Independent podcast comedy network commits to £1,000 fundraising target through CALM Stay Tuned initiative
Podomedy, the UK's leading independent podcast comedy network, has announced its participation in the CALM Stay Tuned campaign, a groundbreaking month-long podcast-powered fundraising drive supporting the charity's life-saving mental health services.
The campaign addresses the stark reality that one in four people in the UK have experienced suicidal thoughts, with CALM's mission to help people choose to give tomorrow a chance. Podomedy has committed to raising £1,000 through its network of comedy podcasts, leveraging the power of laughter and conversation to tackle serious mental health issues.
"Comedy has always been a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and creating safe spaces for difficult conversations," said Damien St John, Founder and CEO of Podomedy. "Our podcasters excel at getting people talking, and there's incredible synergy between what we do naturally, which is creating connection through humour, and CALM's vital mission. Laughter can be genuinely life-saving, providing moments of relief and reminding people they're not alone in their struggles."
The CALM Stay Tuned 2025 initiative encourages podcasters to do what they do best: get talking about mental health whilst raising crucial funds for CALM's services.
“Midlife throws its share of tough times, and our podcast exists to build a community that has the tools to navigate those highs and lows," said Marc & Richard from Mum, Dad’s Got Another Tattoo. "We want to take part in CALM's STAY Tuned to ensure no one feels alone in the struggle”. A sentiment echoed elsewhere on the network. “Encouraging people to talk about their mental health is really great," said Hugh O'Connor & Will Sebag-Montefiore from Legitimate Likes. "Talking is great. Listening is great. And we should know… We're podcasters!”.

About CALM
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is the UK's suicide prevention charity on a mission to help people end their misery, not their lives. The charity runs a free, confidential and anonymous helpline as well as a web chat service, offering help, advice and information to anyone who is struggling or in crisis. With one in five people experiencing suicidal thoughts in their lifetime and 18 people lost to suicide daily in the UK, CALM provides life-saving services to help anyone struggling with life navigate the issues that can make us feel miserable. Originally launched as an NHS pilot in 1997, CALM has grown from a Manchester-based initiative to a nationwide support network dedicated to ensuring no one feels like suicide is their only option.
