[00:00:10] Right then guys, welcome back to Lets Talk About, Liam here today, sadly no Billy with us, but back for the fourth time I believe, we have Tommy from Lets Get Freaky, Tommy once again welcome back to the podcast mate.
[00:00:23] Thank you for having me man, excited to be back, it's always a good time so I'm excited to be here brother, thank you.
[00:00:30] How are we? Are we good?
[00:00:32] All good man, I've got a little bit of a cold, which is a bit frustrating, the kids are back to school so that means they get the cold and then they give it to me.
[00:00:39] So that started...
[00:00:42] I've never thought about that with kids, but yeah, that's fun.
[00:00:46] Yeah, it happens all the time, like one of them is sick pretty much 50% of the time and then I get it and then it's just constantly going on and on and on.
[00:00:55] So I've got my monster energy drink, which I think is quite a good cure, gets me through.
[00:01:00] So, we're there mate.
[00:01:02] I'm not going to worry about them a day.
[00:01:03] What, three or four?
[00:01:05] I do 12 hour shifts mate.
[00:01:07] Oh, man.
[00:01:09] I had two last night at work and I was wired.
[00:01:12] I was like, let's go.
[00:01:16] I've staged them out strategically and it seems to work, so I'll get away with them.
[00:01:20] Yeah, every couple of hours.
[00:01:25] Right then, so this is one of our little Halloween specials that we're doing.
[00:01:29] So, obviously I'm surprising you're a big fan of Halloween.
[00:01:32] Love it, man.
[00:01:33] Absolutely love it.
[00:01:35] Favourite time of year, spooky season.
[00:01:37] Because it's like, it's like Halloween starts in around the end of August for us guys and then we get Halloween and then obviously it stays spooky for a bit and then it's Christmas, which is still a bit spooky to me.
[00:01:49] I get spooky vibes from the Christmas season as well, so I like that.
[00:01:54] Yeah, well you've got Krampus, haven't you?
[00:01:56] Krampus, exactly.
[00:01:57] Yeah.
[00:01:58] So, I love it, man.
[00:01:59] Best time of year for me.
[00:02:02] Well, to start with Halloween then, what are your early memories of Halloween?
[00:02:07] Well, you're not going to be surprised, I was scared.
[00:02:09] I was scared of the kids knocking on the door.
[00:02:13] I remember like me and my brother used to like hide behind the couch when the trick or treaters came.
[00:02:18] We were obviously quite little, like 15 or whatever we were.
[00:02:22] We was little and my mum used to actually dress up and open the door scaring the trick or treaters and that used to make me and my brother feel good and laugh.
[00:02:34] But I love it, man.
[00:02:35] And then obviously I started going out trick or treating and carried on doing that till probably I shouldn't have done.
[00:02:42] I think I was still trick or treating when I was like 17, 18 to be honest.
[00:02:46] I know that's pretty bad, but that's the truth.
[00:02:50] Yeah.
[00:02:51] That's always my problem.
[00:02:53] Well, I looked like this when I was like 15, so I had to stop waiting.
[00:02:58] I probably should have stopped.
[00:02:59] Yeah.
[00:03:00] I had a moment.
[00:03:01] So I think I was about 17 and me and my mates were doing trick or treating.
[00:03:05] We had a mask on.
[00:03:06] We wasn't even properly dressed up.
[00:03:07] And we knocked on this dude's door and he answered the door and he was like, aren't you a bit old for this lads?
[00:03:12] And we just all went like, yeah, you're right.
[00:03:17] And that was it really.
[00:03:18] That was the end of it.
[00:03:20] Yeah.
[00:03:20] Yeah.
[00:03:21] I think the last time I did it, I got a full on werewolf mask because well, like I said, I look like one myself.
[00:03:28] So I get a full blown mask.
[00:03:31] I was probably like 15 or something as well.
[00:03:35] And being like six foot, six foot werewolf knocks on your door.
[00:03:38] It looks a bit suspicious.
[00:03:40] Take all the sweets.
[00:03:42] Take them all, man.
[00:03:46] I did a good one last year.
[00:03:50] Obviously, I can bring anything back to football, even Halloween.
[00:03:54] So last Halloween, obviously my team played on Halloween.
[00:03:58] It was a league cup game against Exeter.
[00:04:00] Obviously, I wanted to watch it.
[00:04:01] It was a late kickoff.
[00:04:02] So I just put a sign on the door saying, watching the football, don't take too many sweets.
[00:04:06] So you get them next year and just left a bucket in the front door.
[00:04:09] That's legendary.
[00:04:12] I bet they didn't last long though.
[00:04:14] To be fair, they did.
[00:04:15] Oh, really?
[00:04:16] So they can have more sweets again this year.
[00:04:18] Oh, that's cool.
[00:04:21] I thought they'd be someone to just come and take the full bucket to be fair.
[00:04:24] Yeah.
[00:04:25] Oh, that's cool, man.
[00:04:27] I take my kids out trick or treating now.
[00:04:29] So I'm at that age.
[00:04:30] I'm at that stage where I'm standing at the end and I'm, you know, the dad waving at the kids go off to get the sweets.
[00:04:37] And I get some of the sweets as well, obviously.
[00:04:40] Last year, it just rained for the whole night.
[00:04:43] It was a nightmare.
[00:04:45] It was terrible, but the kids loved it.
[00:04:48] So that's cool.
[00:04:49] It's a bit like it is now.
[00:04:50] I don't know what it's like down there for you, but up here it's like my school season at the end.
[00:04:54] Yeah, it is pretty bad.
[00:04:56] Last night, it was wild in here.
[00:04:58] It was very loud.
[00:05:00] Yeah.
[00:05:00] It's ridiculous.
[00:05:01] Yeah, man.
[00:05:03] So do you have a favorite film to watch around Halloween?
[00:05:06] Oh, that's a great question.
[00:05:08] There's a lot, man.
[00:05:09] I actually love that.
[00:05:10] I start watching like things like the nightmare before Christmas now, which I know is Christmas, but I do it.
[00:05:15] It's like Halloween as well.
[00:05:16] You can start watching that now.
[00:05:18] That film, you can watch it on both.
[00:05:21] Yeah.
[00:05:21] It lasts this whole period.
[00:05:24] Favorite Halloween.
[00:05:26] Halloween.
[00:05:26] Um, I love the film Halloween, especially the first one as well.
[00:05:32] Yeah.
[00:05:32] One of my all time favorites.
[00:05:35] Um, I love so many, man.
[00:05:37] I love, I love scary films.
[00:05:39] I don't get as scared now when I watch them, which is quite weird.
[00:05:43] I'm not as like, I used to be like really scared watching them.
[00:05:47] Now I can sort of sit there on my own with all the lights off just the telly on and watch them.
[00:05:52] And I, you know, I watched, what did I watch?
[00:05:54] This is quite a while ago, but I watched, is it called the Slender Man?
[00:05:59] Is it?
[00:06:00] Yeah.
[00:06:01] And I was like not phased at all.
[00:06:03] And I thought this is quite worrying.
[00:06:07] I was like, I'm not a fan.
[00:06:07] But I love a good.
[00:06:09] There's certain, there's different, there's different, depends what genre it is for me.
[00:06:13] The ones that really freak me out are like the found footage films.
[00:06:17] Mm-hmm.
[00:06:17] Yes.
[00:06:18] Freak me out properly.
[00:06:20] And the Blair Witch.
[00:06:21] You know it's not real.
[00:06:23] It's still because it's film to look even more real than a, you know, just your average film.
[00:06:29] Yeah.
[00:06:30] I don't know if that even makes sense.
[00:06:32] No, 100%.
[00:06:33] Because I find the films that are more, let's say like realistic.
[00:06:37] So like we spoke last time about signs.
[00:06:39] I found that really like realistic.
[00:06:41] Like obviously it's, you know, aliens invading and stuff, whatever.
[00:06:45] But I don't know, it felt, it felt real.
[00:06:48] And I find that more scary if it's like, if it's more realistic.
[00:06:53] You know what I mean?
[00:06:55] There's an idea.
[00:06:56] I don't, why has that never been done?
[00:06:57] A found footage aliens film?
[00:06:59] Mm.
[00:07:00] Yeah.
[00:07:01] That needs to be done.
[00:07:03] Yeah, man.
[00:07:03] Let's do it.
[00:07:04] That's cool.
[00:07:05] I was just thinking then like, like a POV version of signs.
[00:07:09] Yes.
[00:07:10] It'd look like a completely different film, but that'd be cool as fuck.
[00:07:13] I would like that.
[00:07:14] Let's do it, man.
[00:07:14] Yeah.
[00:07:15] Let's get it out of now.
[00:07:18] I like that.
[00:07:21] For me though, the classic one has to be Hocus Pocus.
[00:07:24] You're going to watch a film.
[00:07:26] 100, that's my favourite.
[00:07:28] That, that, you've just reminded me, that is my favourite film.
[00:07:30] My wife actually asked me this question the other day.
[00:07:33] She was like, if there was a film that you could, one film that you could keep, that all
[00:07:38] the films that you've seen, which one would you like keep?
[00:07:40] You can't see any of the other films.
[00:07:42] And it was Hocus Pocus.
[00:07:45] Nightmare Before Christmas.
[00:07:46] I said, I can't answer this one.
[00:07:48] It's Hocus Pocus Nightmare Before.
[00:07:49] And I know this is Christmas, but Home Alone as well.
[00:07:52] Like they are my, but Hocus Pocus man.
[00:07:56] So good.
[00:07:57] I love it.
[00:07:58] Weirdly, like for a Disney film, it's almost one of them, you can almost say it's a perfect
[00:08:02] film really.
[00:08:04] I love it, man.
[00:08:06] It's just that feeling you get when you watch it as well.
[00:08:08] It just takes you back to being a kid and it's a special film.
[00:08:12] I love it, man.
[00:08:13] What do you think of number two?
[00:08:14] I still haven't watched it.
[00:08:16] Oh, bro.
[00:08:17] I still haven't watched it.
[00:08:19] Because I heard very mixed reviews on it and I don't want it to ruin the first one.
[00:08:24] Well...
[00:08:25] I've heard they're doing a prequel series on Disney Plus.
[00:08:29] Really?
[00:08:30] Yeah, like Hocus Pocus, The Rise of the Sanderson's.
[00:08:33] So...
[00:08:33] Ah, okay.
[00:08:34] A prequel might actually work better than a sequel, if you know what I mean.
[00:08:38] Yeah, I think that sounds interesting.
[00:08:40] I've got to say though, as a Hocus Pocus fan, watch the second one, man.
[00:08:45] It is good.
[00:08:46] It is good.
[00:08:46] I'm not going to say it's better than the first, but it's good.
[00:08:49] You will enjoy it.
[00:08:50] It's never going to be better than the first.
[00:08:52] Nah.
[00:08:52] I was just...
[00:08:53] I was scared because there's been so many times when, you know, like a film's been out
[00:08:58] and then 30 years later they finally decide to do a sequel.
[00:09:01] Like apparently they're doing a Goonie sequel now.
[00:09:04] And as soon as something like that happens, I just get scared.
[00:09:08] Yeah.
[00:09:09] Don't destroy this.
[00:09:10] Yeah, no, I know what you mean.
[00:09:11] It's very rare that a remake is better than an original.
[00:09:15] Right.
[00:09:16] Well, not even a remake, but a part two.
[00:09:18] Well, look at Halloween.
[00:09:20] It's the best example.
[00:09:22] Yeah.
[00:09:22] None of them come close to the original.
[00:09:24] Yeah.
[00:09:25] I mean, I do...
[00:09:26] This might be a controversial opinion, but I like the Rob Zombie ones.
[00:09:29] I do like them.
[00:09:31] Okay.
[00:09:32] Funny enough, interrupting the podcast, Billy is third-stamming them.
[00:09:36] There he is!
[00:09:39] Hello, mate.
[00:09:42] Hey, not bad.
[00:09:43] You missing this?
[00:09:45] How you doing, brother?
[00:09:48] Where the fuck have you been?
[00:09:52] Busy.
[00:09:53] I thought you were off today.
[00:09:54] We planned this.
[00:09:58] Recording this with Tommy.
[00:10:01] No, that's the other one.
[00:10:03] This is the 26th.
[00:10:05] That's what we planned last time, didn't we?
[00:10:09] Donut.
[00:10:10] Donut, aren't you?
[00:10:14] Hello, Tommy.
[00:10:15] Hello, mate.
[00:10:21] I'll give you a ring once we've done it.
[00:10:23] Yeah, give me a ring.
[00:10:24] We'll get the sound.
[00:10:25] I'll catch you in a bit.
[00:10:27] In a bit.
[00:10:30] He's there.
[00:10:31] He's alive.
[00:10:31] He's alive, man.
[00:10:32] That's all that matters.
[00:10:33] So, Billy is alive for people listening.
[00:10:37] Might not be if he carries on ignoring me, mate.
[00:10:42] What were we talking about?
[00:10:47] The Rob Zombie Halloween films.
[00:10:49] Yes.
[00:10:50] The Rob Zombie ones.
[00:10:50] Mm-hmm.
[00:10:51] The Rob Zombie ones.
[00:10:52] The Rob Zombie ones.
[00:10:53] It's a little bit different, that.
[00:10:54] Because I think if you're going to remake something, make it a little bit different.
[00:10:57] Yes.
[00:10:58] Yeah.
[00:10:58] If you can make it its own sort of film, I think that works.
[00:11:03] But if you're trying to just, I don't know, get bits from the first one and just literally,
[00:11:09] yeah, you can kill it a little bit.
[00:11:10] Because you're not going to make it as good as the original.
[00:11:13] Mm-hmm.
[00:11:14] It's like cover songs, isn't it?
[00:11:15] It's like just...
[00:11:17] If you're going to cover a song, just do it completely differently.
[00:11:20] Yeah.
[00:11:21] Yeah.
[00:11:22] Because people are just going to listen to that.
[00:11:24] The original.
[00:11:25] Exactly.
[00:11:26] Yeah, man.
[00:11:29] Do you have any favourite costumes, then?
[00:11:33] What's my go-to?
[00:11:35] I'm trying to think.
[00:11:36] So, I remember one year I dressed up as a dead prison inmate, you know, like the orange
[00:11:43] jumpsuit.
[00:11:43] Mm-hmm.
[00:11:45] I got all scars on my face, looked pretty cool.
[00:11:47] Terrible when I wanted to go to the toilet though, because there was no wee hole.
[00:11:51] So, it was like, oh man, every time I went to the toilet, I had to strip down.
[00:11:54] And, uh...
[00:11:57] Yeah, one year I dressed up as Count Dracula.
[00:12:00] And I actually dyed my hair black.
[00:12:03] Nice.
[00:12:03] And it was kind of an excuse, so I wanted to dye my hair black anyway and see what it
[00:12:06] looked like.
[00:12:07] And it looked terrible, because I didn't do my eyebrows.
[00:12:10] So, I had black hair with ginger eyebrows.
[00:12:13] Wasn't the best look.
[00:12:15] Um, but yeah, man, I do love dressing up.
[00:12:18] Even now, I still dress up.
[00:12:22] My favourite one as a kid was always the Goza vampire.
[00:12:25] Yes.
[00:12:26] Yeah.
[00:12:26] It was typical.
[00:12:27] Used to do it on the cheap as well, like a bin bag for a cape, you know.
[00:12:32] Yes.
[00:12:33] Get the teeth in.
[00:12:34] Yeah, exactly.
[00:12:35] From the pound shop and that.
[00:12:37] Those are fake bloods.
[00:12:38] Yeah, loads of fake blood.
[00:12:40] Yeah.
[00:12:41] It was fake blood.
[00:12:41] It was fake blood.
[00:12:43] I'll tell you what we did one year, which was wild.
[00:12:46] So, when I lived with my mother-in-law, when me and my missus first got together and I
[00:12:49] moved in for a little bit, my mother-in-law loves Halloween.
[00:12:53] Like, she loves it.
[00:12:54] And she said that they used to, like, bring all leaves in from the garden.
[00:12:59] Yeah.
[00:12:59] Put, like, a mat down in their front room and just put leaves everywhere.
[00:13:02] I know.
[00:13:09] And I was like, haha, that sounds great.
[00:13:11] There's no way you do that.
[00:13:13] Anyway, that year, the plastic tarmac came out.
[00:13:17] She got, and everywhere there was just leaves.
[00:13:20] Like, you come downstairs and the whole front, it looked amazing.
[00:13:23] But, it obviously brought in all the bugs.
[00:13:27] Yeah.
[00:13:27] And there was hundreds of them.
[00:13:28] And I don't like bugs, really.
[00:13:31] So, that was interesting.
[00:13:32] But I was like, you go for it, you know?
[00:13:34] That is proper.
[00:13:37] What was the reason for that though?
[00:13:39] I don't know.
[00:13:40] I think she'd done it one year and there was a party.
[00:13:42] They had a party.
[00:13:43] She used to have Halloween parties.
[00:13:45] Right.
[00:13:45] So, she'd done this for the party.
[00:13:46] And she was telling me about it.
[00:13:47] And she was like, my mother-in-law is one of them.
[00:13:49] Like, if she wants to do it, she's going to do it.
[00:13:51] And she was like, I might do it this year.
[00:13:53] Yeah.
[00:13:54] Oh, sorry.
[00:13:54] My Siri's come up.
[00:13:56] Sorry, man.
[00:13:57] Let's get that off.
[00:13:57] All right.
[00:13:58] Oh, Siri, go away.
[00:14:00] What are you doing?
[00:14:01] Sorry, man.
[00:14:03] Sorry.
[00:14:03] I'll, uh...
[00:14:04] Oh, it's gone.
[00:14:05] My Siri's gone.
[00:14:06] Sorry, mate.
[00:14:06] I don't know what happened there.
[00:14:08] Yeah, so my mother-in-law, she's one of them.
[00:14:10] If she wants to do it, she will do it.
[00:14:12] And she said, let's do it.
[00:14:14] And I was like, okay.
[00:14:16] And we're just filling up her front room with leaves.
[00:14:18] But it looks amazing.
[00:14:20] But obviously it brought in a lot of bugs.
[00:14:23] I could see the reason for doing it, like, you know,
[00:14:25] if there's a party and stuff,
[00:14:26] because like you say, it would look cool.
[00:14:28] But if you just sat there watching, I don't know,
[00:14:30] Coronation Street waiting for people to put them on the desk.
[00:14:34] It would seem a bit mental.
[00:14:37] Watching Dil and Odil just sitting there in leaves.
[00:14:44] And she left it for a while as well.
[00:14:46] It was like a week, whatever it was.
[00:14:49] God no, Jesus.
[00:14:50] Fair play.
[00:14:51] Mentally.
[00:14:52] Yeah.
[00:14:54] It must be a nightmare as well to get rid of them though as well.
[00:14:56] Yeah, oh yeah.
[00:14:57] We had to tidy it up.
[00:15:00] That wasn't cool.
[00:15:01] Shout out, shout out, Jill if you're listening.
[00:15:04] Let's do it this year.
[00:15:05] Let's go.
[00:15:07] Yeah.
[00:15:08] Well, that was the next question if you had any funny Halloween party stories.
[00:15:12] Yeah.
[00:15:14] Trying to think any other parties.
[00:15:17] A lot of Halloween parties and stuff.
[00:15:19] I think that's probably the weirdest, funniest thing.
[00:15:23] Yeah, man.
[00:15:24] Yeah, that's off the top of my head.
[00:15:25] I can't think of any other.
[00:15:27] This is the second of our Halloween episodes that we've done.
[00:15:30] So I'll briefly tell you mine because it is better if I say so myself.
[00:15:34] So we had a Halloween party at the pub where me and Billy used to work, which is where we met.
[00:15:40] And I was a zombie, like blood all across the face, black marks all over my arms and everything.
[00:15:45] I even had black lipstick, black fingernails and everything.
[00:15:49] I probably went all out for it.
[00:15:50] And for some reason, obviously, I had many, many drinks.
[00:15:55] I can't remember what song it was.
[00:15:56] I decided to do a slut drop, Don't Ask Why.
[00:16:00] We wore my jeans from arse to ankle.
[00:16:04] We got to the top of the night, and we decided we'd go out.
[00:16:08] Like, you know, properly out.
[00:16:10] And so obviously I had to go home and change my jeans.
[00:16:13] Got, like, to town, obviously, where we were going.
[00:16:16] Realised I'd left a wallet and ripped jeans back at home.
[00:16:18] So I had to go back home, go back again.
[00:16:21] So that cost me a pretty fort, June.
[00:16:23] And then, well, let's just say I got lucky on this night out.
[00:16:29] Okay.
[00:16:30] Why?
[00:16:30] It didn't happen very often, but knowingly when I was a dead person again.
[00:16:35] So yeah, obviously getting a taxi up the next morning was an experience.
[00:16:43] That's amazing, man.
[00:16:44] I wasn't expecting you to say you did a slut drop.
[00:16:47] No, no, no.
[00:16:51] It's just a ripped jeans.
[00:16:53] I still don't know why I thought that was a good idea.
[00:16:58] That's amazing, man.
[00:16:59] It's funny.
[00:17:04] Oh, I love it, bro.
[00:17:07] Yeah.
[00:17:08] Right, so that was the last time you were on, Tommy.
[00:17:10] Obviously we did, well, yeah, obviously you did two episodes where we filled in for Billy,
[00:17:14] and then the first episode we did all about aliens and your thoughts and experiences.
[00:17:19] So as it's Halloween, I think we've got to do like ghosts and paranormal, haven't we?
[00:17:23] Let's go.
[00:17:24] Yeah.
[00:17:24] 100%, man.
[00:17:26] Exactly.
[00:17:26] So when did your interest in it really start?
[00:17:31] Were you young or were you later to it?
[00:17:33] I was, from the start, I can remember like being fascinated by ghosts and stuff like that.
[00:17:39] Always really scared of it.
[00:17:42] We grew up in a haunted house.
[00:17:45] So our second house that I lived in, things used to go missing.
[00:17:50] You know, you'd hear things walking around, you get a weird vibe and everyone, the whole family felt it.
[00:17:56] And we talked, we didn't really talk about it at the time when we was there.
[00:17:59] But when we left, we was all like, yeah, man, it was weird.
[00:18:03] There was a lot of weirdness going on.
[00:18:05] I remember my dad saying, like, we had to get out of there basically.
[00:18:08] There was a lot of freaky stuff.
[00:18:11] Me and my brother shared a room.
[00:18:13] Now, I was always scared of the dark.
[00:18:14] I was always one of those kids that if I woke up during the night,
[00:18:18] I would try and get in bed with my mum and dad because I was scared.
[00:18:20] I always felt like there was stuff in the room and, you know, I was always scared.
[00:18:25] But one night I woke up and me and my brother, we had bunk beds.
[00:18:29] And we had just a typical boys room.
[00:18:31] You know, we had a desk and a TV and stuff.
[00:18:33] I was on the top bunk.
[00:18:36] And even though it was during the night, all the lights were off in the house,
[00:18:40] but you could see the street lights coming through.
[00:18:43] And me and my brother, we had Fred Flintstone curtains
[00:18:46] and you could just see Barney Rubble and Fred Flintstone all the time during the night,
[00:18:51] which is freaky in itself.
[00:18:52] But so I woke up this one particular night, looked down at my desk and there was a man sitting there at my desk,
[00:19:01] like full-bodied, just sort of sitting there looking sort of in my direction.
[00:19:07] But I don't know if he could see me or whatever, but I was just freaked out massively, like scream for my mum.
[00:19:14] This guy didn't move.
[00:19:16] Like it didn't, from what I remember, it didn't even blink, but he was just there.
[00:19:19] And it wasn't like at first, I don't even think I was thinking ghost.
[00:19:23] It was just a man in my room.
[00:19:24] And I was terrified.
[00:19:26] I was too, too scared to even jump out my bed.
[00:19:29] Mum's come in and she's like trying to calm me down.
[00:19:33] And I'm saying, Mum, there's a man there in my room.
[00:19:36] And she couldn't see him.
[00:19:38] And she's going up to my desk.
[00:19:40] I can't remember if she went through him or anything like that, but she came back to me and she was like, calm down.
[00:19:45] You need to calm down.
[00:19:46] I'm trying to get into her room, like get out.
[00:19:48] And she's going, no, you're staying in your bed.
[00:19:50] Like, I think she was quiet because it was getting to the point where she wanted me to stay in the room.
[00:19:54] Like, I was obviously getting a problem from my mum and dad.
[00:19:58] I was 10 years old.
[00:20:00] So trying to get into my mum and dad's bed, they probably had enough of it.
[00:20:03] So my mum made me stay in the room that night.
[00:20:05] And I just remember, I was terrified because this guy was still there sitting in my room.
[00:20:10] You would still see him?
[00:20:11] I could still see him.
[00:20:12] Yeah, he never even moved.
[00:20:14] Like, he was just there.
[00:20:15] And I could see him like very clearly.
[00:20:17] He was wearing like a brown suit, had like a beard, had like long brown hair.
[00:20:21] He looked like William Shakespeare.
[00:20:23] That's what I, whenever I talk about him, I say that visually, that's as a kid, that's what it reminded me of.
[00:20:30] And I just remember, so my mum went out the room.
[00:20:32] She was quite angry with me.
[00:20:33] You're staying in your room.
[00:20:35] Like, okay.
[00:20:36] And I've just gone under the covers.
[00:20:37] Right.
[00:20:38] And I was just sweating.
[00:20:39] I just remember being under there, sweating, like so scared.
[00:20:43] And I just kept looking like every now and again.
[00:20:45] And he was still there all night.
[00:20:48] And then somehow I was under the covers and I've fallen asleep.
[00:20:51] Woke up the next morning.
[00:20:53] He was gone.
[00:20:54] Never saw that man again.
[00:20:55] It was like a one time thing in the house, but very weird man.
[00:21:00] And yeah, that was my first sort of big experience where I'm like, there's more, you know, even at 10.
[00:21:07] I was like that.
[00:21:08] I was right the whole time.
[00:21:09] There is something in my room, you know.
[00:21:11] And my mum sort of, I talk to her now about it all the time.
[00:21:14] And she's like, I'm sorry that I left you.
[00:21:17] And I got a bit angry with you that night and made you stay in your room.
[00:21:20] My brother never woke up that night.
[00:21:22] So he was on the bottom bunk.
[00:21:23] He never woke up for my shouting and he could sleep.
[00:21:26] He's still the same now.
[00:21:28] He sleeps for anything.
[00:21:29] But, um, but he did see red eyes in that room.
[00:21:35] So he woke up one night, had a similar sort of thing and he saw two red eyes coming towards him.
[00:21:41] Just red, just floating red eyes.
[00:21:43] Yeah.
[00:21:44] And that was his experience in that room.
[00:21:46] And that, as far as I'm aware, that's, oh no, I did see something else in that house, but we never saw anything else in that room.
[00:21:52] So that, that, but there was always a weird feeling there.
[00:21:55] So there was something there, um, in the same house.
[00:22:00] So I was in my mom and dad's bedroom and they've got all, they had mirrors up in their bedroom.
[00:22:05] Yeah.
[00:22:06] And they had an ensuite bathroom.
[00:22:08] And I remember I was in their room one day playing about and just looking at myself in a mirror.
[00:22:14] And I think this is probably after my experience of seeing the guy in my room, but a naked blonde lady walked past me and I could see her full bodied as well.
[00:22:25] And, and very clearly walked past me and into the bathroom.
[00:22:29] So I've sort of followed her into the bathroom and I thought it was my mom.
[00:22:33] Cause my mom was blonde and she would walk around the house naked as well.
[00:22:37] Like my mom and dad, I was just, I know it's a bit weird, but it is what it is.
[00:22:41] I was going to make a joke then until you said it was your mom.
[00:22:44] I was going to be like, I'm not surprised you followed her then.
[00:22:49] So I started talking to what I thought was my mom.
[00:22:53] I'm like, mom, I can't remember what I was saying, but talking, walked into the bathroom and there was nothing there.
[00:23:00] Yeah.
[00:23:00] And I just remember being like, what the, I've just seen my mom walk in the bathroom.
[00:23:04] So I ran downstairs, my mom's there fully clothed in the kitchen or whatever.
[00:23:10] And I'm like, mom, I've just seen a naked lady walk past me in the bathroom.
[00:23:13] And she was like, well, it's not me.
[00:23:16] And, and so that was something else that I actually saw.
[00:23:20] Um, so yeah, man, but it was, it was a freaky house, like a scary, we had good times in there.
[00:23:26] Don't get me wrong, but we all experienced weird stuff in there.
[00:23:30] Like we, it was haunted.
[00:23:31] Yeah.
[00:23:32] Yeah.
[00:23:32] That's crazy that though.
[00:23:34] Like the, the fact as well, like the, to me, the most bizarre one there is the fact that you could still see the guy sat at your desk.
[00:23:41] Like even when your mom was there.
[00:23:42] I mean, I don't know if you turned any lights on or anything.
[00:23:45] I mean, I don't think she did.
[00:23:47] I don't think she did turn a light on.
[00:23:48] No, she didn't turn a light on.
[00:23:50] Cause I was, I think that, that's, if I ever think I've seen, if I'm a really dark room and I think I've seen something, I'm just like, right, turn the light on.
[00:23:58] Cause then I know for a fact if I have.
[00:23:59] Yeah.
[00:24:00] Yeah.
[00:24:01] No, for sure.
[00:24:02] And it's still late.
[00:24:03] Then I'm like, okay, shit.
[00:24:05] Yeah.
[00:24:06] Well, I, I'm, I was scared of the dark before I saw that man, but I was, I'm still scared of the dark now.
[00:24:12] Like if I'm, if I'm away and I'm not with the missus or whatever, and I'm in a hotel, I'll have all the, I'll have a bathroom light on and the telly on all night.
[00:24:21] I can't sleep in the dark on my own.
[00:24:23] And if she's away for the weekend or whatever, and I'm on my own in my room now, I'll have the telly on all night, you know, or I'll be listening to a podcast.
[00:24:31] I can't just sleep in the dark on my own.
[00:24:35] I just can't do it.
[00:24:37] And I don't know if it's because of that.
[00:24:39] And I've seen other things after that as well.
[00:24:43] So yeah, I can't, I can't.
[00:24:45] I'm the same man.
[00:24:46] I need, I need noise.
[00:24:48] I just need something in some of that background noise.
[00:24:50] That's what I'm saying for me.
[00:24:52] Yeah.
[00:24:52] Yeah.
[00:24:52] I don't, I don't want to hear anything.
[00:24:54] I know.
[00:24:55] Yeah, no true.
[00:24:56] It's like my missus.
[00:24:57] She wants it dark and she wants no noise.
[00:25:00] I'm like, nah, I like a bit of background.
[00:25:03] Like whatever it is, you know, I don't mind.
[00:25:08] And last night it was the rain and it was like, ah, she's not, I can hear something.
[00:25:14] And I still, I still need the telly on or something, even with, especially with the
[00:25:20] rain to be fair.
[00:25:21] Yeah, no.
[00:25:22] Someone starts tapping against the windows and stuff.
[00:25:24] You just have to turn that telly up a bit.
[00:25:27] You can't hear it.
[00:25:28] Then it's not there.
[00:25:30] That was always my rule as a kid.
[00:25:31] If I can't hear it, it's not there.
[00:25:32] If I can't hear it, it's not there.
[00:25:33] If I can't hear it, it's not there.
[00:25:35] Whenever I thought I saw something, I just put my eyes.
[00:25:38] Yeah.
[00:25:38] That's no excuse.
[00:25:39] Yeah, man.
[00:25:42] I think I've, I mean, most of the occasions where I'd even, even if it was just a bad
[00:25:46] dream, but I don't remember ever like, you know, screaming in the night, being scared
[00:25:51] of anything.
[00:25:52] I just, my only memories I have, I just literally just used to like, I just put my head under
[00:25:56] the cover and just be like, it's not there.
[00:25:58] It's not there.
[00:25:59] It's not real.
[00:26:00] Like most.
[00:26:01] Yeah.
[00:26:03] When I was.
[00:26:04] Sorry, go on.
[00:26:05] I was going to say when I was, when I was 21.
[00:26:08] So this is, this is in another house.
[00:26:11] So we left that house.
[00:26:13] I think I was 12.
[00:26:14] So we was 12.
[00:26:14] It was two years after my experience.
[00:26:17] We left that house.
[00:26:18] Um, that house was right next to a graveyard as well.
[00:26:21] It was like, it was like half a mile from a graveyard.
[00:26:24] So I don't know if that was something to do with it, but, um, so we moved to another
[00:26:28] house and me and my brother, we had a loft conversion in this other house.
[00:26:31] And me and my brother had like our own sort of, it was like a little mini flat upstairs.
[00:26:36] We had our own bathroom, our own, but walking wardrobe thing that we had, but we was in the
[00:26:41] same room again.
[00:26:41] So we went back to sharing a room and, um, I was at university at the time and I was
[00:26:48] 21 and I was, I'm always been a bit of a homeboy.
[00:26:51] So I would go to uni for the week, live there Monday to Friday or Sunday to Friday.
[00:26:57] And then I would come home Friday night and stay at home for the weekend.
[00:27:01] And I was, it was, I think it was at the Friday night.
[00:27:03] So I'm laying in bed and I'm asleep and I woke up and we had all the lights off in the
[00:27:10] room and I could just see the shape of a man standing over me.
[00:27:15] Like as people say darker than, uh, dark and he was there and I just absolutely crap
[00:27:24] myself and thought it was my brother, like standing over me.
[00:27:29] And I've tried to punch him.
[00:27:31] I literally got up and tried to, you know, cause you scared the crap out of me.
[00:27:36] And I've obviously gone through whatever this thing is and made a bit of a noise when I've
[00:27:42] done this.
[00:27:43] Cause on the other side of the room, my brothers woke up, woke up, turned the light on.
[00:27:47] And he's like, bruv, what's the matter?
[00:27:49] What's it, calm down.
[00:27:50] What's going on?
[00:27:50] I'm sure he thought what was going on.
[00:27:52] And I was like, I thought you were standing over me.
[00:27:54] And I, at the time I was like, I wasn't thinking shadow figure or anything like that.
[00:27:59] I was just thinking, man, I must've had too many drinks this week at uni, you know,
[00:28:03] I'm stressing out and stuff and might be something to do with it.
[00:28:06] Didn't even put it down to, to, I just sort of not forgot about it, but just didn't think
[00:28:12] about it anymore.
[00:28:12] Yeah.
[00:28:13] And it wasn't until doing, listening to shows, listening to podcasts, hearing people talk
[00:28:18] about shadow figures cause so many people see shadow figures.
[00:28:21] And then I'm like, I've had that experience.
[00:28:23] I've, I've woke up and seen something standing there and, and it fits the description of a
[00:28:29] shadow figure.
[00:28:30] Yeah.
[00:28:30] And then when I moved to this house and even when I started the podcast, I've had it
[00:28:35] probably three times since being in this house where I've woke up and there's been the
[00:28:41] shape of someone standing there.
[00:28:44] So I don't know what it is, man, but it's weird and I don't like it.
[00:28:47] I can imagine.
[00:28:48] I wouldn't like that.
[00:28:51] I suppose, I suppose that's like similar to obviously the sleep paralysis conversation
[00:28:55] we've had before, but obviously I'm just imagining you can, well, obviously you can
[00:28:57] still move in this scenario.
[00:29:00] Yeah.
[00:29:00] Have you ever, you know, like, like, like try to move towards it since it's back in the
[00:29:05] game?
[00:29:06] Well, so this was weird.
[00:29:08] So this was slightly different.
[00:29:10] So this was a little, this is going back.
[00:29:12] I don't know, maybe a year ago.
[00:29:14] It might be less than that, but I woke up and I thought my wife was sitting up.
[00:29:20] And I thought she was sitting up like crying.
[00:29:22] Right.
[00:29:23] So I can see.
[00:29:25] So I woke up and there's like this shape of what I think is my wife crying.
[00:29:29] And I literally got up and put my arm again through it to, to put my arm around her and
[00:29:35] say, what's wrong?
[00:29:36] Like what's going on?
[00:29:36] Why are you crying?
[00:29:37] And I've sort of got up, done that, looked down and she's just asleep.
[00:29:41] Yeah.
[00:29:41] And I was like, what the ffff?
[00:29:44] You know, they really freaked me out.
[00:29:46] Yeah.
[00:29:46] Um,
[00:29:46] I'm thinking there.
[00:29:48] So when you, when you put your hand towards it, cause obviously it's the typical thing,
[00:29:51] but did your hand go cold or anything?
[00:29:53] Not that I remember.
[00:29:55] No, I've literally just gone sort of like through it, but I can see a solid mass there.
[00:30:00] Like again, like black and I can't see facial, but it seemed like the shape of like what
[00:30:06] I thought was my wife and then gone through it and then like look down and she's just asleep,
[00:30:11] you know, sound asleep.
[00:30:13] And I was like, Oh, that's weird.
[00:30:15] Like really freaked me out.
[00:30:17] Um, what's weird is, is in this house where it's happened.
[00:30:20] I've not been like super scared.
[00:30:22] Yeah.
[00:30:23] But I don't know if that's because I'm doing the podcast now and I'm talking to people
[00:30:27] about this stuff.
[00:30:28] I'm still scared.
[00:30:29] Don't get me wrong.
[00:30:29] Like it's still, this stuff still freaks me out, but I dunno, am I getting more used
[00:30:34] to it?
[00:30:34] I think if you look into the paranormal, it looks back.
[00:30:37] I really do.
[00:30:38] And I really believe we're getting a lot of weird things happening at the moment in the house.
[00:30:41] And I really do think that when you start looking into this, I'm sure you're getting
[00:30:46] things that maybe you wouldn't have noticed before, but you know, it's things happen.
[00:30:51] It's weird, man.
[00:30:53] Yeah.
[00:30:53] I mean, I think I'm, well, I messaged you like a couple of days after my birthday, obviously
[00:30:58] I had all the birthday cards up on the shelf, obviously plenty of things in front of them
[00:31:02] come downstairs one morning, every single card was on the floor, but nothing else.
[00:31:05] I'm just like, you know, well, whoever's in here doesn't like birthdays.
[00:31:11] Yeah.
[00:31:12] But weird, weird things happen, man.
[00:31:14] And the more you talk about it, the more you look into it, the more, I don't know if
[00:31:18] it's because you're open to it and you open yourself to it even more.
[00:31:22] I don't know.
[00:31:23] But yeah, it still scares me as much as I love it.
[00:31:27] It still scares me.
[00:31:30] I mean, maybe that's why a lot of people as well, like don't look into things.
[00:31:35] Maybe, maybe people start to look into things and then something happens and then they're
[00:31:39] just like, right, no, I'm out.
[00:31:40] Yeah.
[00:31:42] It'd be interesting to see what happens.
[00:31:45] Like if you, if you just like stopped, I mean, I don't know what a good timescale would
[00:31:51] be because like six months seems like a really long time, but a month doesn't seem long enough.
[00:31:55] You know what I mean?
[00:31:55] Like if you've just stopped researching stuff, stopped doing the podcast for so long, things
[00:32:01] quieten down.
[00:32:02] You know what I mean?
[00:32:03] Yeah.
[00:32:05] Yeah.
[00:32:06] I don't know, man.
[00:32:07] I don't know if I've gone too far.
[00:32:09] I don't know if it's too far because things happen now when I'm not even thinking about
[00:32:14] the podcast or, you know, I'm just like, for example, I, I, I just finished doing a show.
[00:32:20] So I, I was in sort of podcast mode, but so I went downstairs, made myself a cup of tears
[00:32:27] about three o'clock in the morning.
[00:32:29] Wasn't thinking, wasn't even thinking about the recording that I'd just done or just like
[00:32:33] switching off time.
[00:32:34] And I heard like a very clear voice go, dad.
[00:32:39] Right.
[00:32:39] It was very clear.
[00:32:40] And I was like, I literally thought one of my kids was standing there and I've like gone
[00:32:44] upstairs and looking around, all the kids are asleep.
[00:32:47] Uh, the wife's asleep, dogs asleep.
[00:32:50] I was like, that's weird stuff like that, man, that I'm just not expecting.
[00:32:54] And it happens and stuff like that has been really happening quite a lot recently to not
[00:32:58] just me to the kids and the missus as well, which is quite worrying.
[00:33:02] But yeah.
[00:33:04] Yeah.
[00:33:05] My missus like cheers for doing this show, bringing all these entities to our house.
[00:33:10] I'm like, I'm sorry, babe, but it's too late now.
[00:33:15] It's going to get so bad.
[00:33:16] You're going to go come on one day and she's hidden your microphone, your computer and everything.
[00:33:20] Yeah.
[00:33:21] We're not doing this anymore.
[00:33:23] Or something, something, something happened not long ago where I literally said, I was
[00:33:28] very scared.
[00:33:29] I literally said out loud, you're not welcome here.
[00:33:32] Leave now.
[00:33:33] Like literally like in God's name, leave now.
[00:33:37] I'm not, I'm not having this, you know, like I was in Jesus's name.
[00:33:40] Like I literally, right.
[00:33:43] And, and really scared because basically.
[00:33:46] So this is, this is a couple of months ago.
[00:33:50] Now I think I saw a loose track of times.
[00:33:52] I think my time perception is terrible at the moment.
[00:33:56] It could be two months or it could be two weeks ago, but so my, the kids sometimes
[00:34:02] like sleeping downstairs in the front room, camping out.
[00:34:05] And this particular night, the wife was downstairs.
[00:34:08] My two daughters were downstairs and Fred, my boy wanted to sleep upstairs.
[00:34:12] So I said, me and Fred will sleep in the bed and you guys can sleep downstairs anyway.
[00:34:17] So me and Fred were in bed and I wasn't asleep.
[00:34:21] Fred was asleep and he woke up and he was a bit, so he was a bit sort of half asleep.
[00:34:27] So that, you know, give and take with these sort of things.
[00:34:30] But he said, Amy just walked past the door.
[00:34:33] Right.
[00:34:34] Amy's my eldest daughter.
[00:34:36] So she's 12.
[00:34:37] So I was like, Oh, that's, that's weird.
[00:34:40] Fred can see that I didn't see her.
[00:34:41] And so I've got out of bed, looked in Amy's room.
[00:34:45] She wasn't there.
[00:34:46] She was downstairs and I was quite freaked out.
[00:34:48] I was like, cause Fred was really adamant that he saw Amy.
[00:34:51] And I said, what does she look like Fred?
[00:34:53] And she said he, he described her as like, he went, Oh, she was like all brown.
[00:34:57] Like this is he's, he's five.
[00:34:59] So we use four at the time when this happened.
[00:35:02] So it was, it's hard to sort of know.
[00:35:05] But anyway, it was enough for me to go right.
[00:35:06] We're going downstairs with, with, with.
[00:35:08] So that night we went downstairs and then I think it was two weeks later.
[00:35:14] I got home from work.
[00:35:15] So I get in from work at one o'clock in the morning.
[00:35:18] So normally when I get in, the kids are asleep.
[00:35:20] The wife's asleep.
[00:35:21] The house is very peaceful and I can normally do my podcasting.
[00:35:25] And that's when I normally start recording.
[00:35:27] So, so I've got in and I think the light was on upstairs and my middle
[00:35:32] daughter was standing at the top of the stairs.
[00:35:34] And I was like, Ruby, what's the matter?
[00:35:36] Babe, what's going on?
[00:35:37] And she went, Oh, I was really scared.
[00:35:39] Uh, mommy said, I can sleep in your room tonight.
[00:35:42] I saw Amy, who's my eldest daughter, walk past.
[00:35:47] I'm getting goosebumps.
[00:35:48] Walk past, um, the same spot that Fred saw Amy walk past.
[00:35:53] And she, we didn't talk about this with the kids.
[00:35:56] Like we'd, I try to keep the kids away from this sort of stuff.
[00:35:58] I don't talk about ghosts and stuff in front of the kids.
[00:36:01] And it just made me go cold because she saw,
[00:36:04] described seeing the same thing that Fred saw in exactly the same spot.
[00:36:09] And I told my wife and she was like, Oh my gosh, what are you doing?
[00:36:14] I don't know.
[00:36:16] And it really like, I know I said out loud, like leave, whatever it is, leave.
[00:36:20] Um, so yeah, man, you do bring this stuff to you.
[00:36:25] Yeah.
[00:36:27] That's it.
[00:36:28] It's when stuff is consistent.
[00:36:30] That's to, that's when I find things more believable.
[00:36:34] Mm-hmm.
[00:36:35] Cause I like to question a lot of things.
[00:36:37] Obviously I've told you this before.
[00:36:38] Some, some things I, some, some, some things you can't argue with.
[00:36:42] Some things are like to, some things I think are very questionable,
[00:36:45] but when things are consistent, I really get behind it.
[00:36:50] Yeah.
[00:36:50] Yeah.
[00:36:51] Like I said, one, one, cause anything too is, you know,
[00:36:55] that could be, could be a coincidence, but yeah.
[00:36:58] Coincidence is even a thing.
[00:37:00] Yeah.
[00:37:00] I don't believe in coincidences anymore.
[00:37:02] I think there's too many.
[00:37:03] Yeah.
[00:37:04] There's too many.
[00:37:04] I mean, obviously they can happen, but I think there's too,
[00:37:07] just too many times people go, ah, it's a coincidence,
[00:37:09] but how many can it be?
[00:37:12] You know?
[00:37:13] Yeah, man.
[00:37:14] It's freaky stuff.
[00:37:15] When, when the kids both saw the same thing in the same spot.
[00:37:18] Yeah.
[00:37:18] And I know there's no talk.
[00:37:20] Like Fred doesn't even remember that that's gone, you know,
[00:37:22] but they don't even talk about, they didn't talk about that.
[00:37:25] So it was just very strange.
[00:37:27] Yeah.
[00:37:28] Yeah.
[00:37:28] That is a weird one.
[00:37:30] Um, have you ever experienced hearing anything?
[00:37:33] Like, you know what I mean?
[00:37:34] Yes.
[00:37:34] Obviously the voice in your, obviously saying dad in your ear,
[00:37:38] have you had anything else that you can't?
[00:37:39] I have, I have heard my name called out many times.
[00:37:43] Um, sometimes it's when you're asleep and you, I don't know if sometimes you're having a dream and you'll hear Tom,
[00:37:48] like in some, like, and it's not in the dream.
[00:37:51] If that makes sense.
[00:37:51] It's like, if, and it wakes you up, it's weird.
[00:37:54] That's weird.
[00:37:54] I've had that a few times.
[00:37:55] I've had it where I'm literally doing something and I hear something, say something or, you know, call out my name.
[00:38:03] Um, my wife actually the other day.
[00:38:05] So I call my wife, my wife's name's Lois, but I call her Treek.
[00:38:08] I'm the only person that calls her Treek.
[00:38:11] Like, it's just a nickname that I've given her, that I call her Treek.
[00:38:14] And she, I was at work and she heard me say Treek.
[00:38:21] Like very clear.
[00:38:22] She said, and, uh, she said, she just started laughing.
[00:38:25] She was like, I know I was at work.
[00:38:27] So we had that.
[00:38:28] And then, so this is, this is a little while ago as well.
[00:38:32] I think the start of this kid summer holidays.
[00:38:34] This was me and the wife were staying up quite late cause she's a school teacher.
[00:38:38] So she's normally in bed when I get in from work or I might have even been off work when this happened, but we were staying up late.
[00:38:45] Me and my wife watching Netflix, watching some dating show that you watch when the wives want to watch dating stuff.
[00:38:52] And I'm watching it.
[00:38:53] Can't remember what it's called.
[00:38:54] Love is blind or whatever it was called.
[00:38:55] Something like that.
[00:38:56] Anyway, I'm watching it cause the missus wants to watch it.
[00:38:59] And, uh, we're watching this show and it's that show where they, they, they ask each other to get married, but they don't see each other.
[00:39:05] I don't even know what it's called, but.
[00:39:08] Love is blind.
[00:39:09] I think it's not too bad.
[00:39:10] It's all right.
[00:39:11] I was getting into it anyway.
[00:39:12] So we're watching this show and me and the missus were watching it and we both heard, I'm not joking.
[00:39:19] Like this sounds like an exaggeration and it sounds like a, you know, a typical ghost cartoon.
[00:39:25] But we heard, I promise you, like we both heard that and we both stop the, stop the pro the show.
[00:39:33] Looked at each other.
[00:39:35] And we're like, what the was that?
[00:39:37] Right.
[00:39:38] Again, gone upstairs, check the kids.
[00:39:42] They're all asleep.
[00:39:44] Check the dog.
[00:39:45] He's asleep cause he does make weird noises sometimes, but this was such a weird clear.
[00:39:49] Ooh.
[00:39:50] So we was like, that must've been on the telly.
[00:39:53] Right.
[00:39:53] So we've wound the show and we're watching it and me and the missus are both freaked out cause it was very weird.
[00:39:59] We're watching this, watching this, um, the show and hoping to hear this noise again.
[00:40:05] And it just was a normal scene.
[00:40:07] No weird noises.
[00:40:08] And we're like, what the f...
[00:40:11] What's that?
[00:40:12] Yeah.
[00:40:13] So yeah, we have heard things, man.
[00:40:15] There's a lot of examples where I've heard stuff.
[00:40:17] Yeah, that's...
[00:40:18] I like to say, I asked that because I had Kevin from Where The Weird Ones on.
[00:40:22] Ah, Kevin's awesome.
[00:40:23] Sorry.
[00:40:24] Yeah, he's good.
[00:40:25] He told me a story about a time when he...
[00:40:27] Well, like I say, similar to what you just said then cause it's basically what I've experienced.
[00:40:31] Where like, you're like in the process of waking up and you hear someone shouting your name.
[00:40:36] Is that what I mean?
[00:40:37] Cause that has always baffled me and annoyed me as well.
[00:40:41] Mm-hmm.
[00:40:41] Yeah.
[00:40:42] Cause like I say, when I was living at home with my mum and dad when I was younger, like I'd hear someone shouting my name and it wouldn't even just be once either.
[00:40:48] It would be like as if they were shouting at me to wake me up.
[00:40:53] That's weird.
[00:40:53] I get up and I'm like, what the hell? Who wants to speak to him?
[00:40:56] And I get up and I go downstairs and I'm like, what?
[00:40:59] And they're like, what do you mean what?
[00:41:00] I'm like, well someone shouted at me.
[00:41:02] No, never.
[00:41:02] And I'm like, what the fuck?
[00:41:05] Oh yeah, that's weird, man.
[00:41:07] Honestly, it absolutely baffles my brain.
[00:41:08] It hasn't happened for a long time.
[00:41:10] Mm-hmm.
[00:41:11] Like I have heard recently, I might have told you this one before.
[00:41:15] Obviously we have two cats and one of them is the most chilled out lazy fucking thing you've ever seen.
[00:41:20] And then the other one, it couldn't be any more opposite.
[00:41:24] And I remember one night we were sat on, we were, well, same situation as you,
[00:41:28] we were sat watching some bloody program or so much, probably talking about murderers or true crime stuff.
[00:41:34] And, erm, the mental cat often just comes on the back of the set ear and it makes the weirdest noises you've ever heard in your life, this cat.
[00:41:42] Sounds like a gerbil sometimes.
[00:41:44] And, erm, I heard what sounded like the noise that the cat would make.
[00:41:49] It's just like, it's like a,
[00:41:50] noise.
[00:41:51] Really weird.
[00:41:52] But I only heard it in this ear.
[00:41:54] In me right ear.
[00:41:55] So then I was like, what the fuck, what the hell?
[00:41:57] So I was like, where is he?
[00:42:00] I was like, she was like, who?
[00:42:01] I was like, the cat.
[00:42:02] He's like, oh, he's outside.
[00:42:03] I'm like, what the hell's just gone off in my ear then?
[00:42:06] Like I probably threw my head in for ages.
[00:42:09] All night I was like, I kept going like, what the hell's behind the ear?
[00:42:13] Yeah.
[00:42:14] That is, it is weird man.
[00:42:16] Cause how can you explain it?
[00:42:18] Like, and you hear it so clearly.
[00:42:20] What about me?
[00:42:21] It was specifically in one ear.
[00:42:24] That was the big part.
[00:42:26] Cause obviously when you hear things, obviously you can, you know, you hear it all around.
[00:42:29] But it was literally just in one ear, which baffles me.
[00:42:32] Yeah.
[00:42:33] So it's like something whispered in, like, not whispered, but shouted in your ear that side.
[00:42:38] So you can imagine like an entity like right there doing it.
[00:42:41] Yeah.
[00:42:42] Oh, my wife had that in one of our old flats.
[00:42:46] Sorry?
[00:42:46] My wife had that in one of our old flats in Brentwood.
[00:42:49] So she, she was in the kitchen.
[00:42:51] I was in the front room and she heard some, something shout in her ear and it made her cry.
[00:42:58] Like she was honestly like really scared.
[00:43:00] And she's like, something's just shattered in my, and obviously I'm like, like, calm down.
[00:43:03] It's all right.
[00:43:04] There's nothing there.
[00:43:04] And you know, what is that man?
[00:43:06] Like to make her cry as well.
[00:43:08] It's weird.
[00:43:10] So yeah, man.
[00:43:11] I just think, I just think like you said, like we said, when someone's waking you up,
[00:43:15] like you say, when someone's shouting your name, is that like, is that in some way helpful?
[00:43:20] You know, it's like, is it while you're asleep?
[00:43:22] Is your brain going somewhere it shouldn't sort of things?
[00:43:24] You know what I mean?
[00:43:26] Possibly.
[00:43:27] Yeah.
[00:43:27] That's a good theory, man.
[00:43:29] Yeah.
[00:43:30] Yeah.
[00:43:30] Yeah.
[00:43:31] It's not about you, but it's always, it's like, it sounds like a voice you recognize, but I can't put a person to it.
[00:43:38] If you know what I mean?
[00:43:38] Like, I recognize the voice.
[00:43:40] It's not sounds like, it's not, it's not shouting my name in a horrible way.
[00:43:43] Like you're like demonic voice or anything.
[00:43:45] It's just like a general voice of the show.
[00:43:47] Yeah.
[00:43:47] That makes a lot of sense.
[00:43:49] Yeah.
[00:43:49] 100%.
[00:43:50] You recognize the voice.
[00:43:51] Yeah.
[00:43:52] Yeah.
[00:43:52] That makes a lot of sense, man.
[00:43:53] And that's an interesting theory.
[00:43:55] Like, cause you talk, you talk like astral projection and stuff.
[00:43:58] And I'm not saying that's a bad thing.
[00:43:59] Cause I know a lot of people talk very positively of that.
[00:44:02] And I'm sure it is in, in, but is there a bad place you can travel to?
[00:44:07] Yeah.
[00:44:08] Interesting.
[00:44:08] Yeah, man.
[00:44:09] I've never thought of it like that.
[00:44:11] Yeah.
[00:44:11] Cause it's like that, you know, that horrible feeling where you wake up and you feel like
[00:44:14] it fell on your bed.
[00:44:15] Yeah.
[00:44:16] Yeah.
[00:44:16] Yeah.
[00:44:18] Go on.
[00:44:19] So that is your, so that is you, you, you're going into that much of a deep sleep that
[00:44:24] your heart rate is slowing down so much that you would basically die.
[00:44:28] So that is your brain jolting you awake.
[00:44:30] So you don't die basically.
[00:44:32] Bro, I do that quite a lot.
[00:44:34] Yeah.
[00:44:34] Oh, that's basically what that is.
[00:44:36] That's basically what that is.
[00:44:37] That's your brain waking you up.
[00:44:39] So it's cause your heart rate is getting too low.
[00:44:41] I just think that is mentally your brain can do that.
[00:44:44] That is.
[00:44:45] I mean, it's amazing really that it does it like, but wow.
[00:44:48] I didn't realize that.
[00:44:49] I just thought, you know, you're having a weird dream or something called, you know,
[00:44:54] some people say you leave your body when you're sleeping, which is possible and going
[00:44:57] into the astral realm and coming back.
[00:44:59] Like, well, it could be both.
[00:45:00] That's the, that's the scientific answer to it anyway.
[00:45:03] Yeah.
[00:45:05] Interesting, man.
[00:45:05] I get that quite a lot.
[00:45:06] I'm not just saying that I get that where I'm asleep and I jump for whatever reason
[00:45:11] and it feels like, I don't know, but you, I always remember the first time it happened
[00:45:18] or the first time I remember remembering happened.
[00:45:20] If that makes any sort of sense.
[00:45:21] I must've been like 10 or 11.
[00:45:23] I remember literally going downstairs and saying, like my mom and dad, like, I've just
[00:45:27] woke up and feel like I fell on my bed.
[00:45:28] What's happening?
[00:45:30] And obviously my mom and dad just, oh, that just happened sometimes.
[00:45:33] I'm like, oh, that's a good answer.
[00:45:37] That's wild.
[00:45:38] That's a, yeah, man.
[00:45:39] It's get like when, sometimes when you have that dream as well, when you're falling or I
[00:45:44] always remember this dream that I had and it, it's not even that bad, but it really sticks
[00:45:48] out in my mind.
[00:45:49] And I was jumping over my nan and granddad's dog in my dream.
[00:45:53] And then all of a sudden I fell on him and he like leaked up and it just, and I just
[00:45:58] remember like waking up like, what the f- and it was such a weird feeling.
[00:46:02] Like that feeling when you're falling in a dream or something.
[00:46:05] It's weird, man.
[00:46:06] Dreams are weird.
[00:46:09] Dreams obviously baffle me.
[00:46:12] I just don't understand because it's like you say to me, more often than not, when you've
[00:46:18] experienced obviously that falling feeling, if you're in the process of having a dream
[00:46:22] and you wake up, you will remember a dream that you've had where you're falling.
[00:46:27] Yes.
[00:46:28] Yeah.
[00:46:28] Your brain puts them two together.
[00:46:31] Mm-hmm.
[00:46:31] Yeah.
[00:46:32] Some people say if you, if you'd like, if you, cause you normally wake up before you
[00:46:35] hit the bottom.
[00:46:36] But some people say if you hit the bottom that you're dead.
[00:46:39] I mean, I don't know how true that is, but.
[00:46:42] Oh.
[00:46:43] I mean, but yeah, cause it's like the old, what would you call it?
[00:46:47] A wave's tail.
[00:46:48] Like, you know, if you, if you're dying in your dream, you're dying in your sleep sort
[00:46:51] of thing.
[00:46:51] Yeah.
[00:46:52] If you're dying in your life sort of thing.
[00:46:54] I think that's just, that's just like a make-up on L Street job in there.
[00:46:57] Yeah, man.
[00:46:58] Have you ever had a dream where you're drowning?
[00:47:00] Yeah, I've had a bud.
[00:47:00] Sorry?
[00:47:01] Have you ever had a dream where you're like drowning?
[00:47:05] Um, I don't think so.
[00:47:07] I remember, I remember when we were, we were on holiday one year, I must have all the way
[00:47:12] been, I think I'm like, well 14, 13 maybe.
[00:47:16] And my brother's friend came with us on holiday and we were all in the swimming pool, we were
[00:47:19] chucking a ball about nothing.
[00:47:21] And then we were all, you know, everyone's probably done this, you know, where the steps
[00:47:25] are in the pool, you put, obviously go down and hold yourself on the bottom so you can
[00:47:30] stay the longest.
[00:47:31] I remember my brother's friend, he put his foot on my head and I felt, yeah, exactly.
[00:47:35] And then I, at first I didn't care because I was just like, I'm just holding my breath,
[00:47:39] but I get to the point where I couldn't anymore.
[00:47:41] So I tried moving up and he was holding me, holding me down.
[00:47:43] I'm gonna go.
[00:47:44] Psycho.
[00:47:45] Exactly.
[00:47:46] I grabbed all this foot and I came up and like, my head just felt so.
[00:47:52] I remember for a while after that, I didn't even want to go swimming anymore, even though
[00:47:56] I knew like, that was going to happen.
[00:47:58] I just, I was like, I'm staying out of the water for a bit.
[00:48:00] Oh man.
[00:48:01] Yeah.
[00:48:01] Kids are crazy, man.
[00:48:04] There's no fear.
[00:48:05] There's no thought of what can go wrong.
[00:48:08] Oh man.
[00:48:09] That's, oh, I have a reoccurring dream where I'm, and I get this quite a bit of a
[00:48:13] a lot i don't think i've had it for a little while but i have a dream where i'm in a haunted hotel
[00:48:20] and it looks like like the shining light you know when all the corridors look the same and all the
[00:48:24] doors look the same and i'm literally walking through like trying to find my room or i'm trying
[00:48:29] to get out and there's like an entity that i can't see there coming for me and i had this dream so
[00:48:36] i know it's horrible and i wake up right oh i've had that dream again you know it's quite it happens
[00:48:41] quite a lot no i used to have there i used to have a lot like it was never really it was never the same
[00:48:48] but it was always similar i always have dreams where i was the only person left oh man just me
[00:48:55] walking around i am legend basically yeah but there was one reason and now it was literally nothing it
[00:49:03] was just like it was just like every day like cars and everything were all still there but it was just
[00:49:07] me walking around and there was nobody oh that's scary man isn't scary like visibly there's not
[00:49:14] there's no like no monsters or anything but that is still that is probably scarier yeah that is scary
[00:49:20] i had i had the weird truth i was in i was in a i was in i don't know if it was a ufo but it was like
[00:49:26] some sort of ship right and i've started playing with the buttons and like the doors have shut and it's
[00:49:32] just started going up and i'm on my own in this ship and i'm like i have no idea how to stop this
[00:49:37] like that and i was really scared and that dream stands out as well that's a weird one
[00:49:43] i was going up to space man i was on my own forever
[00:49:48] i used to have i don't i don't really remember my dreams anymore nowadays which
[00:49:52] some which in some in some ways i like because obviously sometimes dreams are horrible and there's
[00:49:57] there's no worse feeling in the world than waking up thinking that was a really good dream but i can't
[00:50:02] remember what happened
[00:50:07] or do you ever have a dream that you're loving and then you wake up and you're like i need to get back
[00:50:13] to it and you try sometimes i feel like i can get back to it sometimes but sometimes you can't it's
[00:50:19] gone you'll have some nightmare i'm back in the haunted hotel but you just get those dreams you're
[00:50:25] loving and then you wake up you're like oh man yeah i've done that a few times and like i say
[00:50:31] sometimes i have managed to get back to sleep but the dream was the dream i was like carried on
[00:50:35] yeah it's weird man dreams are so weird it is way very like teenage questionable dreams
[00:50:44] or maybe even now have you ever had a dream where you're fighting yes
[00:50:48] you can't really know can you no and you're just and you're doing no damage to your opponent
[00:50:55] you're trying so hard like you're bashing whoever you're fighting and they're just not moving and
[00:51:00] they're just oh i've had that before and it's weird and i'm trying my hardest
[00:51:06] it's like you know like how you're seeing films where like you're running but not moving
[00:51:11] yeah yeah yeah it's weird it's swinging your arms with everything you've got but it's just like
[00:51:18] yeah it's horrible i've only ever had a dream like that once or twice but now it's horrible
[00:51:23] yeah your missus is like what were you dreaming about last night you punched me during the night
[00:51:29] i don't know how the hell go down missus in the face a couple of times
[00:51:37] sorry babe i was having a bad dream
[00:51:39] oh
[00:51:43] take that
[00:51:48] dreams are weird i used to think dreams were just dreams and and you know sometimes they're weird but
[00:51:54] whatever but now i think there's more to dreams the more i talk to people about dreams and
[00:51:58] it seems to be connected to the paranormal and and high strangeness this there's a lot more going on
[00:52:04] when we dream i think yeah definitely definitely because it doesn't make sense to me i just don't
[00:52:10] understand how your brain can comprehend some of the things that it does it's because i'm pretty sure
[00:52:17] i've seen i've seen some of it say as well before that like you're like in your dreams you can't come up
[00:52:24] with like a new face so if you see someone in in your dream who you don't recognize that is a
[00:52:29] person you have like just walked past in the street oh interesting pulled their face from your memory
[00:52:36] somewhere i don't know that's interesting that's true and i don't even know you could prove that yeah
[00:52:41] that's that's what i get with a lot of these things i'm like how do they know that how could you know
[00:52:46] that how could you know what someone else is did you know what i mean like how can they work that out
[00:52:52] yeah but i don't know maybe they can somehow but yeah well you know we know nowadays i mean
[00:52:56] the things we can come up with now but i just every time i say that that sort of like freaks me out a
[00:53:01] bit yeah i mean it makes sense it's in your subconscious somewhere yeah yeah that's what i was looking for
[00:53:07] subconscious yeah it is weird man yeah dreams are so weird exactly
[00:53:13] oh
[00:53:17] i know you've got to get to work so i don't want to take too much of your time tom that's okay brother
[00:53:22] have you got much planned for halloween this year then is it just a very typical one take the kids
[00:53:26] out get some sweets yeah i'm i'm off i've got no work halloween so i'm i'm off halloween week which
[00:53:32] is pretty cool so we're gonna we're gonna do some cool things um i'm sure i'll be doing some freaky
[00:53:38] stuff on the podcast uh it's always halloween for us in it anyway we're always we're always talking
[00:53:43] about the freaky stuff but um yeah we'll definitely be trick-or-treating definitely be dressing up
[00:53:49] and uh yeah looking forward to it man do you do pumpkins we do yeah yeah we do when you were a kid
[00:53:58] because obviously we're similar age uh i don't know i don't know what it was like down there but
[00:54:03] us up here in the north obviously because we're different world up here we didn't have pumpkins
[00:54:08] we used to use turnips i don't know whether you used to that down there no way no
[00:54:13] they didn't give you pumpkin pumpkins up there and i don't know how
[00:54:19] i don't know how my mom and dad used to carve them things because now i'm a chef how you hollow out
[00:54:25] a sweet or a turnip i do not know i'm glad for doing that no we had we had pumpkins man we're quite
[00:54:32] privileged no we we there was one year me and a missus i don't even know if we did it with a kid
[00:54:43] i think we did this is when my eldest was really little me and the missus made like the jack skeleton
[00:54:49] probably the best pumpkin i've ever made the jack skeleton and she made the sally face and it
[00:54:56] looked sick they were good they're probably the best ones i've ever done um but yeah we do them
[00:55:02] every year man get get the pumpkins for the kids this year i want to do you know the traditional
[00:55:07] pumpkin picking yeah yeah i've not done that before i know i'm gonna do that this year because loads of
[00:55:12] places do it around here so we're gonna there's a lot of places up here as well but and i know a lot
[00:55:17] of people have been to it a party's quite expensive really
[00:55:21] yeah you're definitely gonna pay more than you will in in tesco's or sainsbury's
[00:55:27] you're paying more for the kids and that aren't you yeah yeah
[00:55:31] like but yeah you can make a day of it and it's worth it isn't it
[00:55:35] get a picture for the instagram you know
[00:55:41] but i love it i'm not a big kid as you know like we're still like big kids i don't think we ever
[00:55:46] really grow up from halloween and christmas and i love it man i love it and then having kids you've
[00:55:53] got the excuse to do it again exactly so
[00:55:57] i just brought back a funny moment there talking about talking about the turnips so we
[00:56:01] sort of all walk around with one and like i said obviously going as dracula over bin bag as my cape
[00:56:07] i remember one time i melted the whole thing i know why look like i said luckily obviously
[00:56:15] like go up in flames i know so you start got halfway over and like i was in the cape
[00:56:19] i just melted away
[00:56:25] that's dangerous brother
[00:56:29] i always wanted to go dressed as a mummy
[00:56:32] obviously i've always been on the bigger side of people and i think i took a lot of time
[00:56:36] in a row this year man do it brother
[00:56:42] it's a fortune
[00:56:46] i don't know what i'm going to dress up as this year i'm not sure
[00:56:49] but uh i definitely will be i don't know he always likes to dress up because obviously he's
[00:56:54] got the two little ones that he'll be taking out well the oldest one he'll be taking yeah
[00:57:00] weirdly for some reason last year he went as a star wars character that he made up
[00:57:05] sometimes it's just an excuse for us to dress up as as a character that we want to be whether it be a
[00:57:11] bubba fett from star wars you know that's our time we can be him you know you can be whoever you want
[00:57:16] to be i think last year i dressed up as a dead american football player so i literally had all like
[00:57:22] the the ordered gear on and and just just basically covered my face in fake blood and that was it
[00:57:29] and i was a dead football player so
[00:57:33] i'm excited because my eyes my eyes on its last legs so i think what i might do is
[00:57:39] what i might do is one year when i finally have to admit it i'll shave the beard off and i'll just stick
[00:57:43] a blood handprint on my face and i'll just go as wilson from castaway
[00:57:48] that's the best oh yes brother i love it man oh i might do i might do that this year i can do that
[00:57:59] i've got a bald head skinhead i can do that
[00:58:04] yeah that's true i'm not i can't get rid of that man too much i can't
[00:58:11] look at him look at him look at him look at him look at him look at him look at him look at him
[00:58:14] what's that brother sorry man i have a shave now i look ill
[00:58:18] i don't know what i look like now if i shake this beard i could have like three chins now i don't know
