[00:00:05] Ah yes, welcome back to Terrifying Tales. I am so glad you have come back to find out what happens with Detective Rodriguez. If those murders keep happening, the city that never sleeps might never sleep again.

[00:00:22] Master, what about that tale about the Grandmaster? I really like that one.

[00:00:26] Igor, Igor, shut up or I will be sending you back to him. Don't worry about that. Take a seat and enjoy these next terrifying tales.

[00:00:39] Shadows in Central Park. Detective Nate Rodriguez stood at the edge of Central Park, the early morning air biting through his coat.

[00:00:47] His eyes, bloodshot and heavy from lack of sleep, scanned the area with a dark intensity.

[00:00:52] The vibrant city had turned into a backdrop of dread and despair. The familiar park now a hunting ground for something unspeakable.

[00:01:02] Joey Foster arrived, his usual energy muted by the grim discovery.

[00:01:07] Nate, we've got another one. Same MOA as the last. It's... it's bad.

[00:01:14] Nate nodded, his face shadowed by a week's worth of unshaven stubble. Tell me everything.

[00:01:20] Joey handed him the report, avoiding the gruesome sight as much as he could.

[00:01:25] Victim's a young woman this time, found by a jug around 5am.

[00:01:29] No ID yet, but the brutality matches the Harris case. It's the same perp, no doubt.

[00:01:34] Sergeant Robinson joined them, his expression a mask of concern.

[00:01:38] Rodriguez! Foster! This is getting out of hand. We need to get a handle on this. Any leads?

[00:01:45] Nate's voice was hoarse, tinged with a cold determination.

[00:01:49] We've got some witnesses. They claim they saw something... unusual.

[00:01:55] Robinson raised an eyebrow. Unusual? How?

[00:02:00] Nate glanced at Joy, who shifted uncomfortably.

[00:02:04] They're saying it wasn't human, Sarge. Something otherworldly, stalking the park at night.

[00:02:11] Robinson frowned. Clearly sceptical.

[00:02:14] Are you telling me we're dealing with a ghost story here?

[00:02:17] Nate's eyes were as hard as steel.

[00:02:19] I don't know what we're dealing with, but whatever it is, it's real and it's killing people.

[00:02:24] We need to follow every lead, no matter how strange.

[00:02:27] The precinct was buzzing with activity, as Nate and Joey returned to interview the witnesses.

[00:02:32] The first was a middle-aged man with a nervous twitch.

[00:02:35] His eye died around the room, as if it were expecting something to leap out of the shadows.

[00:02:40] I saw it, the man whispered, his voice trembling.

[00:02:44] It was like a shadow, but it moved like... like nothing I've ever seen.

[00:02:49] It had glowing eyes, red eyes, and it vanished into thin air.

[00:02:54] Nate leaned forward, his gaze intense.

[00:02:57] Did you see anything else? Any details that could help us?

[00:03:02] The man shook his head, sweat dripping down his forehead.

[00:03:05] No, just the eyes. I ran as fast as I could.

[00:03:10] Joey sighed, dotting down the man's statement.

[00:03:14] Thank you, we'll be in touch if we need anything else.

[00:03:20] As they interviewed more witnesses, a pattern emerged.

[00:03:22] All of them described a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes, moving with an unnatural speed and agility.

[00:03:29] It was something out of a nightmare, and yet the fear in their eyes told Nate.

[00:03:33] They believed every word.

[00:03:37] Late that night, Nate found himself back in Central Park, the darkness pressing in around him.

[00:03:42] He couldn't go back to the apartment he and Sarah had made their home.

[00:03:45] The memories were too painful.

[00:03:47] Her absence of constant, gnawing void.

[00:03:50] He spent his nights here, searching for answers, driven by a need to find the killer, and perhaps find some semblance of peace.

[00:03:59] He stood in a spot where the latest victim had been found, his breath visible in the cold night air.

[00:04:05] His flashlight cut through the darkness, casting long, eerie shadows.

[00:04:09] Every rustle of leaves and distant sound made intense, his hand hovering over his gun.

[00:04:15] Looking for something, detective?

[00:04:18] A voice called out from the shadows.

[00:04:21] Nate turned sharply, his flashlight beam catching a figure of an old woman, her eyes gleaming with an unsettling awareness.

[00:04:28] Who are you? Nate demanded, keeping his distance.

[00:04:32] Just an old woman who knows things.

[00:04:36] She replied, stepping closer.

[00:04:39] You seek the shadow that kills, don't you?

[00:04:44] Nate's grip on his flashlight tightened.

[00:04:47] You know something about the murders?

[00:04:49] The woman nodded slowly.

[00:04:51] It is not of this world.

[00:04:53] A dark spirit drawn to this park, feeding on the fear and pain of its victims.

[00:05:03] Nate's scepticism fled, but he couldn't afford to dismiss any lead.

[00:05:07] How do you know this?

[00:05:08] I've seen it before, she said, her voice dropping to a whisper.

[00:05:14] Years ago, in another city, it appears, takes what it wants and vanishes.

[00:05:21] You must confront it, detective.

[00:05:23] But be aware, it's not just a killer.

[00:05:27] It's a collector of souls.

[00:05:31] Nate's mind raced struggling to balance the supernatural elements with the rational detective instinct.

[00:05:37] How do I stop it?

[00:05:39] The woman's eyes bore into his.

[00:05:42] You must trap it.

[00:05:43] Confront it in its own realm.

[00:05:46] Only then can you end its reign of terror.

[00:05:51] Back at the precinct, Nate shared the woman's story with Joey and Robinson.

[00:05:55] Joey looked doubtful while Robinson was outright sceptical.

[00:05:59] Come on, Nate, you can't seriously believe this ghost story, Robinson said, crossing his arms.

[00:06:04] I don't know what to believe, Sarge, Nate replied, running a hand through his hair.

[00:06:09] But we've got nothing else. We need to consider every possibility.

[00:06:14] Joey leaned forward.

[00:06:16] What's the plan, then?

[00:06:18] Nate took a deep breath.

[00:06:20] We set a trap.

[00:06:22] We lure it out.

[00:06:23] We confront it.

[00:06:24] The night was cold and unusual as Nate and Joey returned to Central Park, setting up their trap.

[00:06:29] They placed cameras around the area and used the dummy as bait, hoping to draw out the creature.

[00:06:35] I was passed with no sign of anything unusual.

[00:06:38] Just as they were about to pack up, a shadowy figure appeared at the edge of the clearing, its red eyes glowing in the darkness.

[00:06:45] Nate's heart pounded in his chest as he signalled Joey to stay back.

[00:06:49] He stepped forward, flashlight in one hand, gun in the other.

[00:06:53] Show yourself, Nate demanded, his voice echoing through the park.

[00:06:59] The figure moved closer, its form shifting and flickering like a dark flame.

[00:07:05] Nate could feel the air grow colder, the weight of something otherworldly pressing down on him.

[00:07:10] You seek to end me, detective.

[00:07:16] The shadow hissed.

[00:07:18] Its voice a chilling whisper.

[00:07:21] Nate steadied his gun.

[00:07:22] You've taken enough lives.

[00:07:24] It ends tonight.

[00:07:26] The shadow laughed, a hollow, echoing sound.

[00:07:31] Nahahahaha!

[00:07:34] You cannot stop what you do not understand.

[00:07:38] In a flash it lunged at Nate who fired his gun, the bullets passing through the creature as if it were smoke.

[00:07:44] Joey rushed forward but the shadow knocked him aside with a force that sent him sprawling.

[00:07:49] Nate's flashlight flickered and went out, plunging the area into darkness.

[00:07:53] The creature's red eyes burned brighter and it seemed to grow, its form expanding and warping into something monstrous.

[00:08:00] Nate's heart raced as he fumbled for the holy water, his last resort.

[00:08:06] Nate!

[00:08:07] Joey shouted, struggling to his feet.

[00:08:10] We need to get out of here!

[00:08:13] But Nate was transfixed, unable to look away from the creature as it advanced on him.

[00:08:18] He threw the vial of holy water but the creature dodged, moving with an unnatural speed.

[00:08:23] He let out a chilling laugh, a sound that echoed through the trees.

[00:08:28] Nahahahaha!

[00:08:29] You are too late, detective.

[00:08:31] The souls are mine!

[00:08:34] Before Nate could react, the creature vanished, leaving behind an eerie silence.

[00:08:39] Nate fell to his knees, the weight of his failure crushing him.

[00:08:42] Joey limped over, his face pale.

[00:08:45] We need to regroup, Nate, Joey said.

[00:08:47] His voice shaky.

[00:08:49] This isn't over.

[00:08:52] Nate nodded.

[00:08:53] His eyes were filled with a deep, haunting sorrow.

[00:08:56] I know.

[00:08:58] He whispered.

[00:08:59] It's just the beginning.

[00:09:03] In the days that followed, the city remained on edge, the fear palpable.

[00:09:07] Nate, however, became a shadow of his former self.

[00:09:10] Haunted by the loss of Sarah and the darkness he had confronted,

[00:09:13] he threw himself into the case, determined to find a way to stop the creature,

[00:09:18] even if it meant losing himself in the process.

[00:09:21] One evening as he stood at the edge of Central Park, he felt the weight of the battle ahead.

[00:09:26] He would never forget what he had seen, nor the price he had paid.

[00:09:30] But he knew he couldn't stop.

[00:09:32] The darkness was still out there, and it was hungry.

[00:09:36] Nate Rodriguez, the detective who had faced the darkness and survived,

[00:09:40] walked away from the park, ready to confront the terror that lay ahead, one step at a time.

[00:09:46] The hunt was far from over.

[00:09:48] The shadows were closing in.

[00:09:54] Shadows of grief.

[00:09:57] Detective Nate Rodriguez stood in front of Sarah's grave, the early morning sun casting long shadows across the cemetery.

[00:10:04] His eyes, bloodshot, as always, stared at the tombstone etched with her name.

[00:10:11] He had avoided this visit for far too long, unable to face the finality of her death.

[00:10:16] Hey Sarah, he whispered, his voice breaking.

[00:10:20] I'm sorry I wasn't there for you.

[00:10:22] I should have been, but I...

[00:10:24] I just couldn't see it.

[00:10:27] The wind rustled, and the leaves around him for a moment.

[00:10:31] He imagined her there with him, smiling, reassuring him.

[00:10:35] But she was gone, and nothing could bring her back.

[00:10:38] With a heavy heart, Nate left the cemetery and made his way back to their apartment, the place they had called home.

[00:10:45] As he stepped inside, memories flooded back.

[00:10:47] The laughter, the arguments.

[00:10:49] The quiet moments of comfort.

[00:10:52] He had avoided this place, stayed at the precinct or wandering the city to avoid confronting his grief.

[00:10:58] On the kitchen table, he found a letter.

[00:11:00] It was from Sarah's parents.

[00:11:02] His hands trembled as he opened it.

[00:11:04] His eyes scanned in harsh words.

[00:11:07] Nate, we trusted you to take care of our daughter, to make her happy.

[00:11:12] Instead, you neglected her, leaving her isolated and alone.

[00:11:15] Her death is on your hands.

[00:11:17] You failed her, and you failed us.

[00:11:19] We never want to see or hear from you again.

[00:11:24] Rage and guilt surged through him.

[00:11:26] He crumpled the letter, his vision blurring with tears.

[00:11:30] With a roar of anger, he punched the wall, the drywall crumbling under his fist.

[00:11:35] He punched again and again, the physical pain and brief respite from the emotional torment.

[00:11:41] Damn it, Sarah!

[00:11:42] He choked out, collapsing against the wall.

[00:11:45] I'm so sorry.

[00:11:47] His phone buzzed in his pocket, breaking the silence.

[00:11:49] It was Joey.

[00:11:51] Wiping his eyes, Nate answered, his voice rough.

[00:11:54] Yeah!

[00:11:55] Nate, it's Joey.

[00:11:57] I've been researching similar cases in other cities.

[00:11:59] There's a pattern.

[00:12:01] Murders like these, bodies ripped apart, shadowy figures seen nearby.

[00:12:05] It's not just here.

[00:12:06] It's happened in Chicago, Seattle, even a few towns in Europe.

[00:12:11] Nate took a deep breath, trying to focus.

[00:12:14] What does that mean?

[00:12:15] It means we're dealing with something bigger than we thought.

[00:12:18] We need to find out where it'll strike next and how to stop it.

[00:12:22] Before Nate could respond, another call came through.

[00:12:25] Sergeant Robinson.

[00:12:26] Hold on Joey, to Robinson.

[00:12:28] He switches lines.

[00:12:30] Yes, Sarge.

[00:12:31] Nate, we've got another one.

[00:12:33] Same as the last two.

[00:12:34] Found in Central Park.

[00:12:35] Ripped to pieces.

[00:12:36] You and Joey need to get down here now.

[00:12:39] Nate felt of the world pressing down on him.

[00:12:42] We're on our way.

[00:12:46] Central Park was a hive of activity when Nate and Joey arrived.

[00:12:49] The crime scene was cordoned off, officers and forensic teams working under the watchful eye of Sergeant Robinson.

[00:12:56] This one's even worse than the others, Robinson said grimly.

[00:12:59] The press is all over it.

[00:13:01] We need to catch this bastard before more bodies pile up.

[00:13:05] Nate nodded, his eyes scanning.

[00:13:07] The gruesome scene.

[00:13:08] We will, Sarge.

[00:13:09] Whatever it takes.

[00:13:11] Robinson took a deep breath before addressing the gathered media.

[00:13:15] Cameras flashed and reporters jostled for the position as he stepped up to the microphone.

[00:13:21] Ladies and gentlemen, Robinson began.

[00:13:25] Due to the recent string of horrific murders in Central Park, the park will be closed from 6pm every evening until further notice.

[00:13:32] We have our best detectives on the case and we will not rest until the killer is caught.

[00:13:37] The crowd erupted with questions but Robinson raised his hand for silence.

[00:13:42] We understand the public's concern and we are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of our citizens.

[00:13:48] Thank you.

[00:13:50] As Robinson stepped away from the podium, he turned to Nate and Joey.

[00:13:54] We need results and fast.

[00:13:56] This city is counting on us.

[00:13:59] Nate, his face a mask of determination nodded.

[00:14:02] We'll find it, Sarge.

[00:14:03] We won't let it take any more lives.

[00:14:06] The three men stood together, the weight of the city's feet on their shoulders.

[00:14:09] The hunt was on and this time failure was not an option.

[00:14:16] I'm on a highway to hell.

[00:14:19] Igor! Will you shut that infested cave hole of yours?

[00:14:25] Sorry.

[00:14:28] Once again, I apologise for Igor's incompetence.

[00:14:32] We hope you enjoyed this episode of Terrifying Tales.

[00:14:37] Will Rodriguez solve his case?

[00:14:40] Join us next time at Terrifying Tales.
