[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh! Where the hell did you come from?

[00:00:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I told Igor to fix the bell days ago.

[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad you're here though.

[00:00:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You must want to know what is going to happen to that Detective Rodriguez.

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Master, do you want me to get your tools ready for tonight?

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Igor! Igor! This is your final warning.

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Now get back to work.

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: No, not the toilet, not the toilet.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Go and tidy the basement.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_02]: We have guests coming later.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: And then fix that bloody bell.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course master, I am sorry.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Just go Igor, your smell is turning customers away.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Right, take a seat and listen to the end of this terrifying tale.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Echoes of Darkness

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Detective Nate Rodriguez and Joey Foster sat in the dimly lit records room.

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Stacks of old case files spread out before them.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: The rooms smelled of dust and aged paper.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_01]: The weight of history pressing down on them as they sifted through the reports from the other cities, Chicago, Seattle, London and Paris.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Each file detailed brutal murders eerily similar to those plaguing New York now.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Here is another one, Joey said, holding up a yellowed report from London.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Six victims, each one more brutal than the last, forty years ago.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate took the file, his eyes scanning the horrific details.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: The killings were almost identical to their current case.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Bodies ripped apart, shadowy figures reported by terrified witnesses.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_01]: The pattern was unmistakable.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's call this Martin Johnson, Nate said.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Finding the contact information of the former London detective who had worked the case.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he can shed some light on what we're dealing with.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Joey dialed the number and after a few rings a shaky voice answered.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Martin Johnson speaking.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Mr Johnson, this is Detective Nate Rodriguez from the NYPD.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm here with my partner, Detective Joey Foster.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_01]: We're investigating a series of murders similar to ones you handled in London forty years ago.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: We need your help.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: There was a long pause before Martin spoke, his voice trembling.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought I'd never hear about those cases again.

[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_01]: The memories, they're not easy to revisit.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_01]: We understand Mr Johnson, Joey said gently.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: But we're dealing with some kind of monster here.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Any information you can provide could save lives.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Martin sighed heavily.

[00:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Six people were killed in London, each murder more brutal than the last.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_01]: We never caught the killer.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It was as if it wasn't human.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The fear, the helplessness, it drove me out of the force.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate felt a cold chill run down his spine.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry you had to go through that.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But before the murders in London, did anything unusual happen?

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Martin's voice grew even more sombre.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_01]: My wife, she took her own life.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The stress, the fear, it was too much for her and I couldn't save her.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate's heart sank.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The parallels to his own life were unbearable.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm truly sorry Mr Johnson.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: There's something else you should know.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Martin continued.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Before London, similar cases were reported in Paris.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_01]: The pattern goes back centuries.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever this thing is, it's as if it's ancient and it's relentless.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Joey's eyes widened.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you Mr Johnson.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll do our best to end this.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Be careful, this thing, it feeds on fear and despair.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't let it consume you.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: After hanging up, Nate stared at the wall, his mind racing.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The weight of guilt pressing down on him, suffocating.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: He couldn't shake the feeling that somehow he was responsible for the darkness that had claimed so many lives.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Joey placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll get through this, Nate.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We have to.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Their resolve was tested almost immediately.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Sergeant Robinson stormed into the records room, his face flushed with anger and urgency.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate, Joey, he barked.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: We've got another body.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: This time in Riverside Park.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It's worse than the last one.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate's heart sank further.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: A heavy dread settling in his chest.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: How bad?

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: More brutal than anything we've seen, Robinson replied.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: His voice tight with barely controlled rage.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: The press is already swarming and the city is on edge.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_01]: We need to get there now.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Riverside Park was a grim image of flashing lights and hushed voices.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_01]: The scene was cordoned off but the brutality was evident even from a distance.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The victim, a young man, was barely recognisable.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: The violence inflicted upon him far surpassing the previous murders.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate and Joey approached the body, their faces grim.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_01]: The sight was almost too much to bear.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: But they steeled themselves, knowing they couldn't afford to show weakness.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This thing is escalating, Joey said, his voice shaking.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It's getting more savage with each kill.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Robinson joined them, his expression a mixture of frustration and despair.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: The care led this continue.

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: We need answers and we need them now.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate nodded, determination hardening his features.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll find it, Zorich.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: We have to.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_01]: As they examined the scene, Nate couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_01]: The shadows seemed to pulse with a malevolent energy.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And the air was thick with an oppressive weight.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: He glanced at Joey, who met his gaze with a silent understanding.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: They were in a battle against something beyond their comprehension.

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And failure was not an option.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Robinson addressed the gathered media with a stern resolve.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Due to the ongoing investigation and for the safety of the public,

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Riverside Park will be closed from 6pm every night until further notice.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: We have our best detectives on the case

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and we will not rest until the killer is caught.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The crowd buzzed with questions, but Robinson's stern glare silenced them.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: This city will not be held hostage by fear.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: We will find this monster and we will bring it to justice.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Nate and Joey exchanged a determined look.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: The hunt was far from over and the darkness was closing in.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But they were ready to face it head on.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The final confrontation.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Detective Nate Rodriguez and Joey Foster sat in the precinct,

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: the air heavy with anticipation and dread.

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Piles of ancient texts and case files surrounded them.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The culmination of weeks of research into the malevolent force

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: that haunted cities across the globe.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Finally they had a breakthrough.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_00]: This is it Nate, Joey said, his voice filled with a mix of excitement and fear.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: The entity's name is Angron.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a death spirit drawn to fear and despair.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_00]: It can be defeated by confronting it directly and using its name to bind it.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate stared at the page, the ancient script detailing the lore of Angron.

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_00]: If we confront it and use its name we can trap it and end this once and for all.

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Joey looked at Nate, concern etched on his face.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's risky, we can't be sure how it will react

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and if something goes wrong, Nate's expression hardened.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll use myself as bait, it's the only way to draw it out and get close enough to use its name.

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_00]: No Nate, Joey protested.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: There has to be another way, you've already lost so much.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate shook his head.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: This thing has taken too many lives Joey, including Sarah's.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't let it take anyone else.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Reluctantly Joey nodded.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Alright, but we're doing this together and we'll bring Robinson and a couple of other detectives.

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to end this Nate.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Central Park was eerily quiet as night fell.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: The usual bustle replaced by an oppressive silence.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate stood in a designated spot, a flashlight in one hand and a vial of holy water in the other.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Sergeant Robinson and two other detectives were positioned strategically around the area, ready to provide backup.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate, are you sure about this? Robinson asked.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Through the earpiece.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure Sarge, this ends tonight, Nate replied with his voice resolute.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate stood nearby, his eyes never leaving Nate.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: We're ready when you are partner.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate took a deep breath, stealing himself before what was to come.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's do this.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_00]: The minutes ticked by, each one stretching into an eternity.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Suddenly a shadowy figure appeared at the edge of the clearing, its red eyes glowing ominously.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate's heart pounded as the entity moved closer, its form shifting and flickering like a dark flame.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate Rodriguez, the entity hissed.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Its voice a chilling whisper.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: You think you can stop me?

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_00]: The entity laughed, a hollow echoing sound.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Ha ha ha ha, you are brave but foolish. Your soul will be mine for all eternity.

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate felt a cold paralyzing fear grip him, his body refusing to move, the entity's eyes boring to him.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And for a moment he felt lost in a trance.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate snap out of it!

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Joey's voice broke through the fog and Nate blinked, his focus returning.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He saw Joey running towards him desperation in his eyes.

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Joey, no!

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate shouted but it was too late.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Joey stopped a few feet from the entity, his voice strong and defiant.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Anger on, I bind you.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_00]: A loud inhumane scream erupted from the creature.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Its form distorting violently, it lunged at Joey passing through him with a force that sent him flying through the air.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: No! Nate screamed, rushing to Joey's side.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: But as he reached, he saw the lifeless eyes of his partner.

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: The man who had stood by him for everything, Joey was gone.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: The entity's form began to disintegrate.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: It screams fading into the night.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: The park was silent once more but the cost had been too high.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Days later, Nate stood over Joey's grave, his heart heavy with guilt and sorrow.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so sorry Joey, he whispered, tears streaming down his face.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't deserve this.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Sergeant Robinson stood nearby, his face a mask of grief.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: He stepped up to the podium addressing the covered media and the city.

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Today we can assure you that the nightmare is over.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Central Park is safe once again but we have paid a great price.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We have lost one of New York City's finest detectives.

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Joey Foster will be remembered for his bravery and his sacrifice.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_00]: The crowd was silent, the weight of the loss palpable.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate, his face etched with sorrow turned away from the grave.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Knowing that while the darkness had been vanquished, the scars it left would remain forever.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_00]: The city was safe but the battle had claimed more than he could have ever imagined.

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_00]: This terrifying tale was over.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Ah, that was quite the fitting end to a long and very dark tale even by our standards.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Master! One of our guests isn't looking too well.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll test our…

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Shut that never closing maggot hole of yours before I test that thing on you,

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: you no good smelly eugen rotten-fingered hunchback pelach.

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Master, I was going to say test the new coffee machine to energise him a little.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well then yes now disappear Igor.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry again, we hope you'll join us again for our next terrifying tale.
