[00:00:51] Yes
[00:00:52] But yeah, still anyway, well done
[00:00:54] Right then to mate
[00:00:56] So today I'm going to tell you, we're going to talk about, well we're going to talk about York basically
[00:01:00] Yes
[00:01:01] Because it is
[00:01:02] It's a place near us
[00:01:03] Yeah, well yeah, it's not too far from us, about 45 minutes
[00:01:06] Yeah that's it
[00:01:07] It is obviously, well supposedly one of the most haunted cities in the UK
[00:01:12] Can imagine why, plenty of history
[00:01:14] Well it has exactly, I mean it's one of the very few cities that still has a city wall
[00:01:18] Yeah, yeah, true
[00:01:19] Yeah I fucking love York though mate, it's a hell of a place
[00:01:22] I love its history mate, I'm all about like, history and stuff as we know
[00:01:26] And it's a good night out
[00:01:28] I can't say I've
[00:01:29] It's better for day drinking actually
[00:01:31] Yeah, I can't say I've ever been to York you know, for drinking
[00:01:33] I mean that, no it's fucking me, they've got an old church that they've turned into a nightclub
[00:01:38] Wow, nightclub and in a church
[00:01:40] Yeah it's what I meant
[00:01:41] I couldn't tell you that mate
[00:01:42] Honestly it's fucking class
[00:01:43] But yeah, it's described as the city of a thousand ghosts
[00:01:47] Oh fucking hell I've never heard that
[00:01:49] Basically I'm just gonna tell you about some of the most haunted places in York
[00:01:53] Can I ask about two
[00:01:55] Go on then
[00:01:56] That I'm 90% sure we'll be in there
[00:01:57] Go on then
[00:01:58] York Minster
[00:01:59] Yes
[00:02:00] And is it just York Castle, something called?
[00:02:03] York, well I've got York Castle Museum
[00:02:05] Right okay
[00:02:06] Yeah that's the first one we're gonna tell you about
[00:02:08] Yes
[00:02:09] There's only little segments on each so I mean, I don't know how long this episode will be
[00:02:13] Obviously we can have a quick, we can have a talk about after each one when I'm done
[00:02:15] Also have you ever been to York Minster?
[00:02:17] I have
[00:02:18] It's massive isn't it
[00:02:19] Oh yeah
[00:02:20] Fucking crazy
[00:02:21] Huge
[00:02:22] Right then
[00:02:23] But we'll get to that when we come to that one mate
[00:02:24] Well I
[00:02:25] So we'll start with York Castle Museum
[00:02:27] Well there we go
[00:02:28] So the York Castle Museum is the home of the most infamous York ghost stories
[00:02:34] In 1953 the museum caretaker Mr Jonas claimed to see a little man that he described as being dressed in Edwardian clothing
[00:02:43] And shortly after Mr Jonas and his wife had locked up the museum after closing and returned to their accommodation in the basement
[00:02:50] Right
[00:02:51] I love the basement
[00:02:52] Yeah I didn't know it had a basement
[00:02:53] As the pair settled down to relax they heard footsteps in the museum above
[00:02:57] And Mr Jonas went upstairs to check things out
[00:03:00] It was then he saw a man pacing the floor
[00:03:04] Assuming the man had somehow gotten locked inside
[00:03:06] He approached him and landed a hand on his shoulder
[00:03:09] At which point he promptly disappeared
[00:03:11] On another occasion Mr Jonas was with a colleague again after the museum was closed and the apparition made another appearance
[00:03:18] This time witnessed by both men
[00:03:20] From time to time new reports service surface
[00:03:24] But there is no information about who this man might be or why he's hanging around the museum
[00:03:29] Fucking hell
[00:03:31] It's a weird one
[00:03:32] It's a weird one
[00:03:33] It's the Edwardian clothing
[00:03:34] Yeah
[00:03:35] That's well back that is
[00:03:36] Yeah yeah definitely
[00:03:37] Well it's got a lot of history aren't it
[00:03:38] Well yeah exactly
[00:03:39] Exactly
[00:03:40] But um why do you reckon he's
[00:03:42] He's lived there before or
[00:03:44] Edwardian guys
[00:03:45] Ghost um well lightly yeah it's probably
[00:03:48] His land or his
[00:03:50] I don't know
[00:03:52] Weird one isn't it
[00:03:53] It is
[00:03:54] Right then so black sheep brewery
[00:03:56] Next
[00:03:57] Black sheep brewery
[00:03:58] Yeah
[00:03:59] So Centurion's ghost ale is not the only ghost which has made itself known in the famous York Brewery
[00:04:04] The York Brewery and meeting rooms is a labyrinth of rooms dating back to the 18th century
[00:04:09] Hmm
[00:04:10] It has a colourful past having once been a mog and then a vicarage before becoming the brewery you see today
[00:04:16] So literally ghost beer
[00:04:18] Yeah
[00:04:19] Staff often report hearing heavy footsteps and the tables have a habit of moving around by themselves
[00:04:24] As if that wasn't ghostly enough a somewhat malevolent spirit stalks the halls
[00:04:29] He is tall and thin wearing a tall hat and he makes it clear he would rather not welcome anyone into what he sees as his building
[00:04:36] Shit
[00:04:38] He seems to enjoy shouting and slamming doors as he stomps around the property
[00:04:41] Matz I would ghost
[00:04:42] I've heard about this one before and like to me it's almost like the description is very you know slender man-ish
[00:04:48] Yeah
[00:04:49] You know what I mean tall thin tall hat and it's just a weird one
[00:04:53] I'd love to go here
[00:04:54] But I've never actually been here before
[00:04:57] But I have heard a lot about it I would like to go there
[00:04:59] Definitely
[00:05:00] Definitely
[00:05:01] Any malevolent spirit
[00:05:02] Apparently it does happen quite a lot
[00:05:03] See why haven't I got videos this is what they might have to be fair we'll have to have a look on the internet
[00:05:08] Aye
[00:05:09] Ready for the next one?
[00:05:11] Yes yeah
[00:05:12] Right then so York Minster
[00:05:13] There we go
[00:05:14] Aye
[00:05:15] So as the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe
[00:05:19] York Minster is probably one of York's most famous buildings
[00:05:22] It's a breathtaking sight to behold and the current building is believed to date all the way back to the year 627
[00:05:27] Jesus
[00:05:28] So it's a very fucking old building
[00:05:30] But that's what baffles me
[00:05:33] Like it's like with the abbey yeah
[00:05:35] Yeah
[00:05:36] How the fuck would they do in that back then
[00:05:37] Yeah it's mental isn't it
[00:05:38] It's crazy
[00:05:39] You look at like no buildings you know like my house where I live now it's just like fucking Legoland
[00:05:43] Yeah yeah
[00:05:44] But you've got to think there's still have been you know 6-7 people with modern machinery and stuff building this place
[00:05:49] Exactly
[00:05:50] You think back then
[00:05:51] That's what I mean
[00:05:52] Fucking hell and the size of it guys have a look we'll have photos on our Instagram page anyway
[00:05:56] You'll see like the sheer size of the place
[00:05:58] Yeah fucking ridiculous isn't it?
[00:05:59] Huge
[00:06:01] With such a long history behind the building it is not a great surprise that York Minster is considered to be one of the most haunted places in York
[00:06:09] One of the most frequently shared stories of ghostly goings on
[00:06:14] In this atmosphere of structure dates back to the 1820s
[00:06:18] When two tour group members were separated from the crowd and found themselves wandering the lawn through the building
[00:06:23] On their wanderings they encountered a man in a naval uniform
[00:06:26] The man approached the ladies and whispered in one of their ears before walking off
[00:06:30] Oh that's really in a naval uniform
[00:06:33] I wouldn't have put that on York Minster like fucking hell that's different isn't it
[00:06:37] Well there you go
[00:06:38] The story goes that he was actually one of the women's brother
[00:06:41] Ah okay
[00:06:42] And they had made a pact that whoever died first had to come and tell the other if there really was an afterlife
[00:06:49] Shit
[00:06:50] So is the woman in there as well then?
[00:06:53] I don't know, she was there and then he turned up because obviously he died
[00:06:57] To tell her that there is an afterlife
[00:06:59] Ah and he's stuck there
[00:07:00] Ah you're right okay
[00:07:02] After dying at sea the brother returned to keep his promise to his sister
[00:07:07] Aside from this tale of a secret sibling pact
[00:07:11] That was hard to say when I looked at it
[00:07:13] Secret sibling pact
[00:07:14] Another spirit said to haunt York Minster is a young man believed to be Dean Gale who died in 1702 aged 26
[00:07:22] His ghostly apparition has been reported sitting in the pews and listening to the sermons
[00:07:28] Sermons
[00:07:30] I think it's like a...
[00:07:32] I know what it is but I can't explain it how the hell am I going to explain it
[00:07:35] Quickly google it
[00:07:36] Like Billy then what the hell is a sermon then
[00:07:38] So it's basically you get a given a book in a church don't you you read off songs and stuff
[00:07:43] It's just that, that's all it is
[00:07:46] For some I don't know why that's so hard to explain
[00:07:49] I did struggle at first
[00:07:51] Right so number four mate we've got the golden fleece
[00:07:54] Yes
[00:07:55] So the golden fleece takes pride in its reputation as York's most haunted hostelry
[00:08:02] Okay hostelry
[00:08:03] Hostel
[00:08:04] Hotel
[00:08:06] Something one bar manager dismissed as nothing but tall tales for the tourist when she was first hired
[00:08:12] However it was not long before she was eating her words
[00:08:16] Just some of the things she saw, heard and felt at the golden fleece
[00:08:19] Include an apparition moving across the bar before disappearing into the wall
[00:08:24] The sound of footsteps, a bunch of keys rattling
[00:08:27] Perhaps most chilling of all, an ice cold hand running up their spine
[00:08:31] Oh
[00:08:32] Yeah that's the other thing that always puts the shits on me
[00:08:35] Yeah someone touches you, that's different innit I say
[00:08:37] Get to fuck
[00:08:38] Yeah like sounds and stuff I don't think would bother me
[00:08:42] Yeah we'll see
[00:08:43] Yeah we'll see
[00:08:44] It's loud enough and
[00:08:46] I don't know how to
[00:08:47] You were a door slam
[00:08:49] Yeah
[00:08:50] You shitting yourself
[00:08:51] We've had this conversation before if I can see the door then I wouldn't
[00:08:54] Why?
[00:08:55] Because I can see it moving
[00:08:56] But then you see nothing move the door, that's even worse
[00:08:58] Ah I'll bugger it
[00:09:00] I'll test his theory guys
[00:09:02] We will, we will, right
[00:09:04] So the bar manager is certainly not the only person to have encountered the ghostly inhabitants
[00:09:10] Inhabitants
[00:09:11] Of the golden fleece
[00:09:13] Little reference there to the fucking aliens episode
[00:09:16] In fact many guests report seeing a ghostly woman roaming the corridors and the staircases in the early morning hours
[00:09:23] Oh
[00:09:24] Homeover
[00:09:25] The golden fleece I was thinking Greek mythology there as well mate
[00:09:27] Why?
[00:09:28] The golden fleece
[00:09:29] Ah fair enough
[00:09:31] Investigators believe this is the spirit of Lady Alice Peckard
[00:09:35] Who was the wife of former Lord Mayor of York
[00:09:37] Who lived next door to the golden fleece
[00:09:39] Which was once a coaching in
[00:09:42] Mmm
[00:09:43] Another spirit that is sometimes spotted
[00:09:46] Is that of a Canadian airman
[00:09:48] Who fell to his death from the upper windows
[00:09:52] And is now permanent
[00:09:55] Is now permanently dead?
[00:09:56] Well yeah well yeah
[00:09:58] I was permanently there
[00:09:59] I mean that's a weird way of phrasing that isn't it
[00:10:01] Yeah very strange, very strange
[00:10:03] Then of course we could not forget one eyed Jack
[00:10:06] Oh
[00:10:07] Who appears in the bottom bar in a 16th century red coat carrying a pistol
[00:10:12] Oh
[00:10:13] Interesting
[00:10:14] I love how the media amount of detail have gotten these ghosts as if someone's seen them
[00:10:17] Well, I'm out of them
[00:10:20] Do you believe you can actually see ghosts?
[00:10:22] That's always the question isn't it
[00:10:23] Some people believe that they can see them
[00:10:25] Some people believe that they can't
[00:10:26] But they still believe they're there
[00:10:27] It's one of them isn't it
[00:10:28] Yeah I mean well I guess we'll never know for certain
[00:10:32] I stand by my theory though that you can't see them
[00:10:34] Yeah
[00:10:35] There are many more ghosts that have been mentioned above the golden fleece
[00:10:39] You'll have to pop in for a drink the next time you're in York
[00:10:42] Right then mate, number five
[00:10:43] Right well well, hang on Liam
[00:10:44] Just before you get onto that mate
[00:10:46] I just want to play a quick trailer

[00:13:07] Happy days
[00:13:08] Right, number five
[00:13:10] This is gonna be a fun one to say
[00:13:11] Ye old stay in
[00:13:13] Ye old stay in
[00:13:16] One thing that York is certainly not sure on
[00:13:18] Is haunted pubs and ale houses
[00:13:20] Our tour of the ghosts of York takes us to one of the most notoriously haunted pubs in York
[00:13:25] The Ye Old Stay In
[00:13:28] The old coaching in dates back to around the year 1644
[00:13:33] Although the sellers are thought to be much older
[00:13:36] Usually
[00:13:38] The sellers are the focal point for the hauntings here
[00:13:41] As many people have reported hearing the screams of royalist soldiers
[00:13:45] That would be fucking harrowing
[00:13:47] That's more like it
[00:13:48] Yeah, that'd be fucking
[00:13:49] That'd freak me out a bit to be fair
[00:13:51] Yeah, any kind of scream mate for me is
[00:13:53] Especially from fucking royalist soldiers
[00:13:56] Well, yeah, but
[00:13:57] Yeah
[00:13:58] I mean that's gonna be fucking chilling
[00:14:00] Yeah
[00:14:02] Historical records show that the sellers were used as makeshift hospitals for soldiers during the English Civil War
[00:14:07] Mmm
[00:14:08] Some of the other paranormal activity linked to the Ye Old Stay In includes the old lady
[00:14:14] Dressed in black who was often seen descending the staircase from the upper floors
[00:14:18] And two ghostly black cats who were seen around the bar
[00:14:21] Oh, the black lady then
[00:14:22] We've got a grey lady, white lady, black lady
[00:14:24] Exactly
[00:14:25] And two black cats
[00:14:26] And two black cats
[00:14:28] Local legend states that the cats were bricked up inside a pillar between the door and the bar
[00:14:34] Jesus, webs
[00:14:35] I'm sure we weren't mentioning it on another episode that we did there
[00:14:38] Apparently it's supposed to be some sort of weird like good luck charm to have a fucking dead cat in your walls in a pub
[00:14:44] After
[00:14:45] I'm sure we'll have mentioned that on another episode but like I've never understand that
[00:14:49] No, that makes zero sense
[00:14:51] I know
[00:14:52] I'm not gonna try it neither
[00:14:53] Well, leave a look after your cats
[00:14:56] That's booted up the ass
[00:14:57] I'm joking
[00:14:59] Sometimes I'd like to
[00:15:03] Right, there are many reports of visitors bringing their dogs into the bar only for them to growl snarl at the pillar
[00:15:09] One dog even managed to knock himself out
[00:15:13] Rushing at the pillar
[00:15:14] I wasn't expecting that
[00:15:17] Knocks itself out at the pillar
[00:15:19] I didn't know a dog could knock itself out
[00:15:21] No, I can't say
[00:15:22] You could knock my dog out
[00:15:23] No, I've never seen a dog caged mate
[00:15:25] I can't
[00:15:26] Can't get a testament to that
[00:15:28] Alright, here we go
[00:15:29] The practice of bricking up cats in a building is a superstitious one found all across Yorkshire
[00:15:34] Which is said to protect a building against both fire and ill luck
[00:15:39] Alright, okay
[00:15:40] So there you go, there's your reasoning
[00:15:41] I don't understand it
[00:15:43] I don't know how a dead cat's gonna stop the place going up in flames
[00:15:45] Fuck tail mate
[00:15:46] It's so media you made it up
[00:15:48] It's just mental
[00:15:50] Book nose
[00:15:51] Right, the treasurer's house number six
[00:15:54] Our next stop on this well-winter of the haunted York leads us to the treasurer's house which is set
[00:16:01] Which sets the scene for one of the most famous York ghosts
[00:16:06] It said that back in 1953 a plumber called Harry Martindale was tasked with
[00:16:11] It's funny about that
[00:16:12] Sorry mate, I just...
[00:16:15] I think one of York's best well-known ghosts mate
[00:16:20] It's not the name I was expecting
[00:16:22] What the fuck are you retreting? A fucking dream rate or something?
[00:16:25] Yeah, just somewhat cool mate
[00:16:27] I don't know mate
[00:16:29] Well yeah, right
[00:16:30] I was ready for a plumber
[00:16:31] Alright
[00:16:32] So Harry Martindale was tasked with installing the central heating in the cellars of the building
[00:16:37] As he worked he heard the sound of a horn go off in the distance
[00:16:41] Right, so let me just apologise to my old plumber then
[00:16:44] He's clearly not... I thought he was the ghost
[00:16:46] No no, but he might be, yeah sure
[00:16:48] Right okay
[00:16:49] As he worked he heard the sound of a horn go off in the distance
[00:16:52] He shrugged it off at first and continued working
[00:16:55] But the horn grew louder and louder as if it was drawing closer
[00:16:58] Then a phantom cat-horse suddenly emerged from the cellar wall
[00:17:02] Followed by an entire legion of Roman soldiers
[00:17:04] Jesus
[00:17:05] Who he described as looking like they had been cut off at the knees
[00:17:09] Fucking hell
[00:17:11] Okay now
[00:17:12] Exactly
[00:17:13] It's a sight
[00:17:14] Sight to behold that innit
[00:17:16] Well that's not me in the film, I was going to say a ghost
[00:17:18] That's the sort of thing I'd want to see
[00:17:20] Not just some old woman in a knackered old dress
[00:17:23] With a fucking cat in tow
[00:17:25] I can't say I've ever heard of a fucking Roman legion mask
[00:17:29] I know but that's what I want to say
[00:17:31] Like a fucking headless horseman thing I summons
[00:17:33] Not just some shitty...
[00:17:35] Well that's your brain trying to...
[00:17:37] I'm saying that's what I'd want to see
[00:17:39] If I was going to see a ghost that's what I'd want to see
[00:17:41] Right so if you saw Amy Winehouse here
[00:17:44] And a fucking...
[00:17:46] Headless horseman
[00:17:47] You'd be...
[00:17:48] No no no let's forget that for a minute
[00:17:49] You see Amy Winehouse stood there
[00:17:50] That's not good enough for years enough
[00:17:52] That's smack head
[00:18:00] Are you agree?
[00:18:02] Definitely take that out
[00:18:05] But no no Amy Winehouse would not be good enough for me
[00:18:08] Wouldn't care
[00:18:09] Most of my time I've had MEO6 so I'm not bothered
[00:18:11] You've seen it, no I agree man
[00:18:12] But she's there
[00:18:14] Yeah but it's not that impressive
[00:18:17] Nah you're not good enough for God
[00:18:19] Go get me fucking headless horseman also
[00:18:21] Yeah but if I was sat here now when I turned around
[00:18:23] And looked at this window and a fucking...
[00:18:24] Like I say a Roman legion fucking come flying around
[00:18:26] And fucking straights I'd be fucking buzzing
[00:18:30] Alright okay yeah
[00:18:31] All I do with Amy Winehouse was stood here
[00:18:33] You see the old version of Valerie wasn't as good
[00:18:35] The original was better love
[00:18:39] Fair enough
[00:18:40] Exactly
[00:18:41] In that conversation we've established that Liam
[00:18:43] Doesn't like Amy Winehouse
[00:18:45] Nah I wasn't a fan
[00:18:47] Right then so
[00:18:49] It wasn't until some time after this event
[00:18:51] That you discovered that an old Roman road
[00:18:53] Lies underneath the building
[00:18:55] And a good 15 inches below the cellar floor
[00:18:57] Bollocks you knew that before and they guarantee it
[00:18:59] Which is why the soldiers had appeared to be on their knees
[00:19:03] Oh how you okay
[00:19:05] Since Harry's sighting numerous others
[00:19:07] Have seen the Roman soldiers including staff members
[00:19:09] And other contractors
[00:19:11] Right then so number 7
[00:19:13] 35 Stone Gate
[00:19:15] Fuckin hell
[00:19:16] That's a house property right
[00:19:18] Yeah okay
[00:19:19] Right then so over the years
[00:19:21] 35 Stone Gate has been known as York's most
[00:19:23] Haunted building
[00:19:25] A lot of them obviously
[00:19:27] It is a building that is soaked in history
[00:19:29] And is certainly very atmospheric
[00:19:33] The current house was built in 1482
[00:19:35] Although records show that some
[00:19:37] Form of building has been on the
[00:19:39] Site for at least a thousand years
[00:19:41] Jesus
[00:19:43] Fuckin hell
[00:19:45] I wanna see this house I wanna see what it looks like
[00:19:47] This house is said to have
[00:19:49] At least 14 different ghosts
[00:19:51] But many believe that there are many more
[00:19:53] Many become active in the late 90s
[00:19:55] When the property was heavily renovated
[00:19:57] Suggesting that the work stirred them
[00:19:59] Sorry
[00:20:01] Can I just like
[00:20:03] I love how they say how many ghosts
[00:20:05] 14
[00:20:07] That's Derek that's Dave that's Elizabeth
[00:20:09] How do they I don't understand that
[00:20:11] I never understand when they say there's 33 ghosts
[00:20:13] What do you mean
[00:20:15] Because these are obviously people who believe
[00:20:17] differently to you that you can see ghosts
[00:20:19] So people have reported seeing different ghosts
[00:20:21] Yeah
[00:20:23] It's not just 13 different types of knocking
[00:20:25] You know Dave he knocks a bit differently to Derek
[00:20:27] Do you know when they see them
[00:20:29] They all just stood in like a little choir
[00:20:31] Well no probably not your dingbat
[00:20:33] But this is the problem with seeing ghosts though
[00:20:35] Some people literally say there was
[00:20:37] Like a grey mist and you can see a face
[00:20:39] Whereas some people say they're moot
[00:20:41] And they're as real as me and you'll start
[00:20:43] You know
[00:20:45] Like the fella in the fucking museum
[00:20:47] David loves dick
[00:20:49] Mary loves dick
[00:20:51] Well if I do as well I'm in the both nights
[00:20:53] Anyway right carry on
[00:20:55] So
[00:20:57] The most documented spirit it's a 35 stone gate
[00:20:59] Is known simply as Tom
[00:21:01] See what I mean it's just
[00:21:03] And he seems to occupy the second floor
[00:21:05] Tom what are you doing mate
[00:21:07] Dead obviously
[00:21:09] I look very well
[00:21:11] Right then this one's an interesting one
[00:21:13] So at number 8 we have the Black Swan Hotel
[00:21:15] In the Helmsley which is
[00:21:17] Hardly still going
[00:21:19] Yeah well I always used to work here
[00:21:21] That's probably how I know it then
[00:21:23] You must have told me this before
[00:21:25] Still
[00:21:27] Right so the Black Swan Hotel
[00:21:29] Is a historic inn
[00:21:31] That has been transformed into a boutique hotel
[00:21:33] That's a lot of bollocks
[00:21:35] Have you ever had a little try again?
[00:21:37] Have you ever had any experiences though?
[00:21:41] I'll get into that
[00:21:43] Shut up
[00:21:45] So yeah so boutique hotel
[00:21:47] Apparently no but yeah fair enough
[00:21:49] It consists of three different buildings
[00:21:51] A black and white timber framed house
[00:21:53] A Georgian house and an Elizabethan house
[00:21:55] There you go
[00:21:57] Third time lucky that was
[00:21:59] The Elizabethan part
[00:22:01] Is believed to occupy the size
[00:22:03] Where the historic inn has stood for many centuries
[00:22:05] Among the notable guests
[00:22:07] That stayed in the inn was
[00:22:09] William Wordsworth
[00:22:11] The hotel features
[00:22:13] All of the usual amenities
[00:22:15] That one might expect from a hotel like this
[00:22:17] But with the bonus of a resident ghost
[00:22:19] Staff and guests have reported to
[00:22:21] A well dressed older man around the hotel
[00:22:23] And the spirit of a young blonde woman
[00:22:25] Margaret
[00:22:27] This is the best bit
[00:22:29] There is also a pair of legs with no body attached
[00:22:31] Seen in the private quarter on occasions
[00:22:33] Ah nugget
[00:22:35] What are you talking about?
[00:22:37] Nugget
[00:22:39] You mean it's a nugget, it's a pair of fucking legs you idiot
[00:22:41] Oh I thought it was just the torso
[00:22:43] No
[00:22:45] Do you ever listen to what I say?
[00:22:47] I'll say it again
[00:22:49] Because with no body attached
[00:22:51] Seen in the private quarter on occasions
[00:22:53] I've heard it backwards mate
[00:22:55] Well yeah
[00:22:57] See how I say that's just mental
[00:22:59] I mean I didn't see any random pairs of legs
[00:23:01] Kicking about when I was there
[00:23:03] Can you imagine seeing that mate
[00:23:05] Got it
[00:23:07] Bloody Romans mate
[00:23:09] No
[00:23:11] Again, this is what I fucking have to put up with
[00:23:13] Just the Roman legs
[00:23:15] No I know because the legs were underneath the concrete
[00:23:17] So that's why we couldn't see the full Romans
[00:23:19] Now they've been chopped off mate
[00:23:21] A pair of legs have wandered off on their black swan
[00:23:23] No they take
[00:23:25] But yeah, I worked there and I didn't see anything
[00:23:27] Didn't see no legs
[00:23:29] Yeah
[00:23:31] You've got legs lost a few times, haven't you
[00:23:33] She might as well have been a ghost
[00:23:35] She probably is now, she's probably about 106 at the time
[00:23:37] Oh bless her
[00:23:39] Four foot tall
[00:23:41] What right
[00:23:43] Well you're not going to be six but it's a fucking 106 are you
[00:23:45] No
[00:23:47] Right there, number nine
[00:23:49] The second black swan in
[00:23:51] Aye? Yeah, there's two of them
[00:23:53] And they're both haunted
[00:23:55] Coincidence
[00:23:57] Located in the
[00:23:59] Peace Home Green area of York
[00:24:01] Exactly
[00:24:03] The black swan in is a half timbered former
[00:24:05] Private residence dating back to the 15th century
[00:24:07] With such a long history
[00:24:09] There are bound to be a few ghost stories to tell
[00:24:11] At least however
[00:24:13] Numerous at the black swan
[00:24:15] One of the most common sightings here
[00:24:17] Is of a workman in a boiler hat
[00:24:19] From the late 19th century
[00:24:21] Described as a charlie chaplain type character
[00:24:23] His apparition stands at the bar
[00:24:25] Tudding and fidgeting
[00:24:27] As if waiting for someone's arrival
[00:24:29] Hmm
[00:24:31] Ghosts with a long lost wife
[00:24:33] Possibly
[00:24:35] Well husband but still fair enough
[00:24:37] Could be legs
[00:24:39] Might be
[00:24:41] As well as waiting at the bar
[00:24:43] He's been seen walking abruptly from room to room
[00:24:45] As his presence often fades before your eyes
[00:24:47] Another common sighting is of a young woman
[00:24:49] Wearing a long white dress
[00:24:51] She likes to stand at the bar in the back
[00:24:53] Whilst gazing at the fireplace
[00:24:55] Oh that's creepy
[00:24:57] Oh you just picture it can't you
[00:24:59] Walking into a barn there's a little girl in a black dress
[00:25:01] There in the fire
[00:25:03] Woman woman woman
[00:25:05] I'm listening
[00:25:07] Her appearance can change accordingly
[00:25:09] To eyewitnesses with her hair described as both long
[00:25:11] And glowing and also black
[00:25:13] Long and hiding her face
[00:25:15] Or like the grudge
[00:25:17] Oh no
[00:25:19] No hell no
[00:25:21] That's where we cross a line there mate
[00:25:23] I see anything
[00:25:25] Nope that is my nightmare
[00:25:27] That's still my childhood nightmare mate
[00:25:29] I can't watch it's the only horror I won't watch
[00:25:31] I refuse
[00:25:33] Dalla puts the noise on it
[00:25:35] My partner puts the noise on every now and again
[00:25:37] Well no you sound like a twat but
[00:25:39] Fucking hell
[00:25:41] Right number 10
[00:25:43] This is the last one
[00:25:45] So we're about Nunnington Hall
[00:25:47] Nunnington Hall
[00:25:49] Love the name
[00:25:51] Nunnington Hall is a 17th century country house
[00:25:53] In the village of Nunnington
[00:25:55] Just north of the city of York
[00:25:57] Their countless ghosts said to walk its grand halls
[00:25:59] But perhaps the most famous
[00:26:01] Of all is the ghost of Lady Nunnington
[00:26:03] Tell me she's a nun
[00:26:05] Lady Nunnington's dress
[00:26:07] Can be heard dragging up and down the staircase
[00:26:09] And always seems to stop
[00:26:11] The instant it's investigated
[00:26:13] That makes no sense for a start
[00:26:15] That's terribly worded
[00:26:17] And also how do you hear a dress
[00:26:19] Yeah that's how I'm thinking
[00:26:21] What's the name of lead
[00:26:23] You'd think it's just the light as bristle wouldn't you
[00:26:25] Well you'd think so
[00:26:27] Exactly that's my point
[00:26:29] And then you go and investigate in them
[00:26:31] Several child spirits are known to haunt as well
[00:26:33] Their disembodied voices are heard throughout
[00:26:35] But most often in the attic
[00:26:37] No see
[00:26:39] Of course in the attic
[00:26:41] No nightmare material
[00:26:43] A dark shapeless mass has been seen
[00:26:45] In the panelled room entering through the walls
[00:26:47] Slowly moving over to the bed
[00:26:49] And then out of the room through the window
[00:26:51] There's the demon
[00:26:53] Well yeah so there's the apparent
[00:26:55] Top 10 most haunted places in York made
[00:26:57] So we've got York Castle Museum
[00:26:59] The Black Sheep Brewery
[00:27:01] York Minster
[00:27:03] The Golden Flice
[00:27:05] Ye Old Staring
[00:27:07] The Treasurer's House
[00:27:09] 35 Stone Gate
[00:27:11] The Black Swan in Helmsley
[00:27:13] And the Black Swan in Pease Home Green
[00:27:15] Weird fucking name to the
[00:27:17] Nunnington Hall
[00:27:19] If you were to pick a location
[00:27:21] Out of all of them where would you go
[00:27:23] Where would I go
[00:27:25] I'd go to the Black Swan and stay in there
[00:27:27] So that was piss all there
[00:27:29] I'd just get legless
[00:27:31] Yeah, yeah
[00:27:33] Fuck right off you can
[00:27:35] Probably the Brewery
[00:27:37] The Brewery?
[00:27:39] Yeah because I think obviously that they are the
[00:27:41] Lanky Strait of fucking pisses always banging doors
[00:27:43] And whatever you're moving to
[00:27:45] Yeah the Slender Man
[00:27:47] From what I've heard in the past
[00:27:49] That seems to be the most active
[00:27:51] I agree that one and
[00:27:53] There's another one I want to choose just because
[00:27:55] I think it'd be incredible to investigate
[00:27:57] The Minster
[00:27:59] But no I think the Brewery in terms of
[00:28:01] What's said to lurk there
[00:28:03] I've been to the Golden Flakes
[00:28:05] I've been for a pint in there before
[00:28:07] Have you? Yeah, not what happened
[00:28:09] No, dogs knocking themselves out
[00:28:11] Oh yeah
[00:28:15] Fuck you now
[00:28:17] Imagine this sight
[00:28:19] I wonder if the dog was blind
[00:28:21] Right I've got a bone to pick with though before we end
[00:28:23] Alright
[00:28:25] You're the one who's supposed to be more into the ghosts
[00:28:27] Absolutely
[00:28:29] So why is it always me doing the haunted episodes
[00:28:31] Is that the one with some ghost episodes
[00:28:33] I certainly will
[00:28:35] I've actually got some ideas for
[00:28:37] Spirit Ones
[00:28:39] Because
[00:28:41] I don't know what I was going to say now
[00:28:43] No we've just done vampires and werewolves
[00:28:45] Oh you mean for the terrifying tales?
[00:28:47] Correct
[00:28:49] I don't mean that I mean general episodes
[00:28:51] No no no I'm not about
[00:28:53] Spirits for terrifying tales
[00:28:55] I'm saying I did the vampires and werewolves
[00:28:57] Alright aye
[00:28:59] Fair enough then
[00:29:01] Hopefully Billy will be coming up with some ghost stories soon
[00:29:03] I've got at least one
[00:29:05] Brilliant one
[00:29:07] For you
[00:29:09] And we are finally
[00:29:11] Some one might have come out before this maybe
[00:29:13] We're finally getting some guest episodes
[00:29:15] Sauted and actually done
[00:29:17] So they will be coming soon
[00:29:19] If not already I might be just talking to myself now
[00:29:23] Right then mate should we leave it there
[00:29:25] Sounds good mate
[00:29:27] We'll go for a drink
[00:29:29] Thank you for listening
[00:29:31] As always follow the instagram, twitter, tiktok
[00:29:33] Check out the merch
[00:29:35] Again congratulations to our winners
[00:29:37] From our competition
[00:29:39] Josh and Amanda
[00:29:41] And of course we have our patreon page
[00:29:43] If you want to go and help us out over there
[00:29:45] Just a pound a month
[00:29:47] Again hopefully very soon
[00:29:49] We're going to have some stuff coming over there
[00:29:51] Definitely we've got some big ideas
[00:29:53] What we're thinking about doing
[00:29:55] Is you can take this out if you don't like the idea
[00:29:57] I think I mentioned it to you last time though
[00:29:59] But our terrifying tales
[00:30:01] Stories we
[00:30:03] Are enjoying them massively
[00:30:05] And we personally think
[00:30:07] It's brilliant content and I hope you guys agree
[00:30:09] But we're thinking about
[00:30:11] We're going to decide to do videos for them
[00:30:13] Like put a little video piece together
[00:30:15] To tell a story but a lot more sound effects
[00:30:17] Pictures to go behind it
[00:30:19] You've got yourself a little app on your phone
[00:30:21] And you can do some animation on it
[00:30:23] Yeah it's called
[00:30:25] AI Leonardo
[00:30:27] And it's fantastic
[00:30:29] It'll produce you
[00:30:31] Literally just put an input in
[00:30:33] You can say anything you know
[00:30:35] You can put Iron Man with a bikini on
[00:30:37] You two definitely don't have any
[00:30:39] Not yes I've done Ariana Grande with an Iron Man
[00:30:41] Bikini on
[00:30:43] Right we're leaving this
[00:30:45] But yeah we're going to have some videos
[00:30:47] With that on the Patreon so it's definitely going to be
[00:30:49] Well worth it
[00:30:51] And some other stuff I've got ideas for
[00:30:53] Right we're going, say your line Billy
[00:31:47] Thanks for watching
