"Look - I've found something!"
They walk like the Slitheen, look like psychedelic hippos, and live on a planet from 60s Star Trek; they're the FIMBLES!
In this episode, we discuss the Fimbles, its more successful spin-off series, and even a short-lived radio show featuring the series' most annying character.
Digressions include reasons Meg got in trouble at school; bones we've broken; Laura's medical record; and Elsie's personal stash of glitter.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin...

[00:01:16] I lost a tube of glitter that day but I gained so much more.
[00:01:20] Alrighty then. Are you ready to jingle your bells?
[00:01:41] Do you remember when you pushed me over?
[00:01:43] I knew you were gonna do that!
[00:01:46] I knew it! I knew!
[00:01:47] Meg and I were arcing around in the Brussels departure lounge,
[00:01:54] EuroStar to the UK and she pushed me a little bit too hard
[00:01:59] and I was already unbalanced and I went all the way over in front of everyone.
[00:02:03] I thought she'd turned around and said something bitchy to me.
[00:02:05] I did.
[00:02:06] I gave what I thought was a little shove.
[00:02:09] Yeah.
[00:02:10] Well actually, I tried more to scoop you, to like sweep you out of the way to take
[00:02:15] to go in front of you.
[00:02:16] And I brought all my suitcase down with me, it was loud.
[00:02:22] I hit a chair on the way down and to an onlooker,
[00:02:26] it would have just looked like a random act of violence.
[00:02:31] Pardon you.
[00:02:32] Elsa says I'm farting.
[00:02:33] Yeah.
[00:02:33] Meg has this theory.
[00:02:36] Well you explain.
[00:02:37] I could go all day and not do a single fart
[00:02:40] but as soon as Elsa walks through the door,
[00:02:41] I'm farting like nobody's business.
[00:02:44] It's like a very specific and like shit superpower that I have.
[00:02:50] Only on one person as well, you don't make me gassy.
[00:02:52] No, I just think I'm just gassy in the evening.
[00:02:55] Yeah.
[00:02:55] That's when I come home.
[00:02:57] That's when you come home.
[00:02:57] Do you know there's a study actually that proves this isn't about that.
[00:03:00] It proves that Elsa makes people gassy.
[00:03:03] It's a pretty good proof.
[00:03:04] Yeah, we carried it out in this room.
[00:03:06] It's a pretty good proof.
[00:03:08] That you always touch people harder than you think you're going to touch them.
[00:03:12] Oh.
[00:03:13] I've forgotten the exact details but it basically proved that like when you think
[00:03:16] you've touched someone at a two, they will be like no that was a four.
[00:03:20] Well I had that sounds like a thing from Ted Lasso.
[00:03:24] You always touch people harder than you think.
[00:03:26] Oh I had a hug today from a colleague and I was oh my god workplace harassment.
[00:03:32] I was going in for like a hand shake.
[00:03:35] A cursory kind of oh you're back after a few weeks away high friendly sort of thing
[00:03:40] and it was like a proper hug and I was like oh we're friends now.
[00:03:43] Like he gave it back.
[00:03:44] I might I'd be so creeped out if one of my colleagues gave me a hug
[00:03:47] because I work from home like how do you know where I live?
[00:03:54] So fimbles we're doing this one because you all apparently love it.
[00:04:00] Social media loves the fimbles.
[00:04:13] Your eyes there's a world right here full of wonder and surprise.
[00:04:22] Let's go and find the fimbles!
[00:04:26] Fimbles, fimbles, fimbles.
[00:04:32] We're the fimbles!
[00:04:34] Fimbles!
[00:04:39] Oh we're the fimbles!
[00:04:41] Fimbles!
[00:04:43] Sing along with symbol sorry baby.
[00:04:47] Yeah so you all voted for the fimbles over the hoops and I've got a lot more to say about the hoops.
[00:05:15] I actually record the hoops.
[00:05:17] Yeah we'll get round to the hoops.
[00:05:20] The symbol people right?
[00:05:22] Yeah yeah yeah.
[00:05:23] The motor rats.
[00:05:24] Yeah yeah.
[00:05:24] The motor rats are singing they keep the engine spinning.
[00:05:27] Hoop hoop hooray!
[00:05:30] I can't wait to do it! I love it so much!
[00:05:34] The fimbles uh well anyway to the hoops.
[00:05:39] Let's be honest there isn't a tremendous amount to say about the fimbles.
[00:05:45] However the post I made about I like just put the intro on Instagram and it
[00:05:52] fucking it did numbers so quickly like everybody loves it.
[00:05:57] There was that one comment about because the opening line or the one of the opening lines is about boy they specify boys and girls.
[00:06:03] Every girl every boy.
[00:06:07] Do you know how long it took me to register that they had gendered terms in the intro because like someone immediately picked up on that in the comments on that post?
[00:06:14] Someone was like you wouldn't get away with doing this now because of woke.
[00:06:18] It would have to be every them every day and it's like children, child, every child.
[00:06:24] If you really if that is like your first comment to complain about that like and say oh
[00:06:31] nowadays you couldn't do that sincerely get fucked like get a life.
[00:06:36] Like you you've completely it's people who could just completely misunderstand the whole
[00:06:42] oh my god talking about woke um did you see um right said fred's tweet the other day?
[00:06:48] Yes!
[00:06:48] Oh my god let's I don't know.
[00:06:50] Right you haven't seen.
[00:06:50] Right right said fred.
[00:06:52] Laura hasn't seen it.
[00:06:53] No!
[00:06:53] Yes I right said fred.
[00:06:54] Yeah let me explain the tweet to you.
[00:06:58] It was you know how um phone boxes are pretty much obsolete now don't really have
[00:07:05] their only home to what do they call it in north slag tags?
[00:07:08] Slag tags yeah.
[00:07:09] Which I think is a great name.
[00:07:10] So a lot of them have been repurposed.
[00:07:13] Yeah not just for slag tags but like little libraries and stuff.
[00:07:16] No defibrillators are being put in them.
[00:07:18] Oh yeah yeah yeah.
[00:07:20] Because they can't turn off the it's more of an effort or something to get rid of them.
[00:07:25] Yeah.
[00:07:25] So um they're putting defibrillators in them obviously so they're easy to access for community
[00:07:32] and right said fred tweeted a picture of a defibrillator in a phone.
[00:07:36] Or one of right said fred.
[00:07:38] Yeah a phone box and was like what did it say?
[00:07:41] It was like it was like this is what the left wants to do to the country or something
[00:07:46] like that.
[00:07:47] What?
[00:07:47] They basically make it safer for the old.
[00:07:50] Basically the country the comment was like um this is what happens when woke gets you.
[00:07:55] Like I don't know.
[00:07:55] If you're a man in your 60s you really should not be complaining about more defibrillators
[00:08:00] like in the streets.
[00:08:01] People were quote tweeting it like fellas guys is it woke to not want to die of a heart attack.
[00:08:06] Fellas is it gay?
[00:08:09] And I was like gated.
[00:08:12] How have right said fred come how has this happened to them?
[00:08:16] I know I know.
[00:08:17] It's actually I was going to say it's unbelievable it's not their white men.
[00:08:22] Are they are they gay?
[00:08:23] I don't know if they are but their music is.
[00:08:25] I don't know if they were but they gave gay didn't they?
[00:08:27] Their music is.
[00:08:28] I just want to say that I mean politics aside I actually think they have some fantastic music.
[00:08:35] Now you've got to get it through larb wire.
[00:08:38] Yeah they did have some bangers back in the day but now all they do is
[00:08:42] deeply dipping.
[00:08:43] What okay.
[00:08:44] Hate is hate tweet all over fucking.
[00:08:46] Yeah.
[00:08:47] Oh my god yeah so I was at the hairdressers yesterday just I'm Sean use or our hairdresser used the
[00:08:53] phrase back in the day guess what time period she was 2013 2019 yesterday.
[00:09:01] Oh way way back 2006 1610s.
[00:09:10] BC she's so funny 1400s basically she was like back in the day in the black
[00:09:16] death I was like back in the day in the 1300s.
[00:09:21] She's so funny she's so funny so funny.
[00:09:24] Back in the day you could load all your dead bodies onto a cart.
[00:09:29] Yeah dump them in the Thames but you can't do that now because of woke because her boyfriend
[00:09:33] has a plague doctor tattoo and she was like you know back in the day doctors and I was like
[00:09:39] where doctors is kind yeah men what shoved spices in their faces.
[00:09:45] Lovely.
[00:09:46] The nose would be full of spices and stuff that they thought would keep the plague away.
[00:09:50] How painful have you ever breathed in cayenne pepper.
[00:09:54] It wouldn't have been those.
[00:09:57] Yes I had.
[00:09:58] I don't want to get into a woke too much on the pod but if you think that
[00:10:06] if you think that a kids TV show would be cancelled over the words girl and boy it's
[00:10:14] like they seem to think that girls and boys don't exist anymore that is not the problem you're
[00:10:19] getting you're getting everything so twisted.
[00:10:21] Be an another lyric that just uses the term child.
[00:10:25] Yeah that is probably exactly what they do.
[00:10:28] Like imagine watching a reel that is the fimbles intro and spouting off about woke in the
[00:10:35] pod.
[00:10:35] I know get a life.
[00:10:38] Oh I saw I don't know how recent this is but it came off my Instagram was
[00:10:41] an interview between British news broadcaster not the BBC I can't remember which one talking to
[00:10:49] a non binary person and the non binary person goes by they you know and then she got into an argument
[00:10:58] with sorry I've done that the wrong way around the broadcaster a woman got into an argument
[00:11:02] with the non binary person because she was saying all they is not grammatically correct.
[00:11:07] Oh fuck I'm gonna use she because that's grammatically correct.
[00:11:11] Well no they is also a singular I do remember I myself got tripped up on this because you get
[00:11:16] trained that they is plural right and yeah but if you don't know if you don't know if it's male or
[00:11:22] female you'll say that 100% and like I don't think this anymore even remotely because it's like
[00:11:27] yeah what if someone's left a bag in a room do you do you assume he or she no you're probably
[00:11:32] gonna go they left their bag.
[00:11:33] Yeah and it's like it is grammatically correct why you as a news broadcaster are you spouting
[00:11:39] like why are you getting into an argument with a guess that you have invited on maybe
[00:11:45] are we not all just fucking tired yeah let's should yeah should we talk about the fimbles
[00:11:51] yeah yeah not that the fimbles is like invigorating uh it's but yeah yeah so
[00:12:00] say that again gray is a prohibited color for Laura why because I'm so sweaty
[00:12:09] oh that was fun time for a little rest now I think
[00:12:18] what do it well I've had such a busy day I'm going to have a little nap now
[00:12:26] oh all right POM just one game and then I'll go to sleep all right so fimbles started in 2002
[00:12:36] uh what I mean I don't really have much more to say on the background of the fimbles so
[00:12:44] it was basically created to fill a gap so it's that it's aimed at kids that are too old for
[00:12:51] teletubbies but not old enough for tweenies so it was it that's why it was made there was no
[00:12:58] stopgap between being too old for gibberish and too young for sentences yeah yeah it was definitely like
[00:13:09] toddler coded like reception aimed probably younger than reception actually I don't know like two to four
[00:13:16] that's a great point it yeah you're right it I've never considered that it does feel right in between
[00:13:21] those two things because it yeah especially what's her name POM baby talks like a toddler yeah and that
[00:13:28] they all move like all the the non-populated ones what the fimbles the fimbles yeah they all move
[00:13:35] like toddlers like they don't know the length you can't move any other way in yeah which which is
[00:13:40] great but unfortunately I think they kind of move a bit like the slavine they do like they don't
[00:13:47] know how long they're at limbs up yeah like puppies or toddlers or toddlers or teenagers
[00:13:55] well I was like there's those growth periods where you're not sure how long your wing span is
[00:14:00] I assume we'll get to this later but Elsie put up a poll um asking for people's takes on the fimbles
[00:14:06] oh just a little question tag thing oh yeah on our instagram and uh someone asked what kind of
[00:14:12] animal they were and oh a lot of people and Elsie replied with weird dogs I guess one of my favorite
[00:14:19] memes ever is like what's that that's a weird looking dog my favorite joke ever is referring to
[00:14:24] every single animal as a weird dog and another fantastic joke is the reverse in peanuts where
[00:14:30] peppermint patty is the only character that refers to snoopy is that weird looking kid he's
[00:14:35] bipedal well yes do you I mean do you remember there's that Netflix program that's like alien
[00:14:42] worlds and it's all CG and it's yeah honestly the fimbles really good it was really good the fimbles
[00:14:48] reminded me of a non-scary version of that yeah it gives 1960s star trek alien the setting definitely
[00:14:57] does I mean we were saying today around the corner it's like a sexy green lady to walk out in
[00:15:04] like dressed in a metallic metallic looking sort of vacant yeah yeah with really really
[00:15:12] backcombed hair it kind of reminds me of that episode of star trek where the things that they
[00:15:18] think about come to life do you know I mean like where like the rabbit from alice in wonderland
[00:15:27] like hops out yeah it's quite scary but all the settings like all the planets in original
[00:15:34] star trek are like psychedelic pink because it's the plastic you knock on that rock oh yeah but it's
[00:15:40] like the 60s and fimbles somehow has managed to recreate that just perfectly I think it's so nice
[00:15:47] to look at gorgeous I really do enjoy it like in in the intro you've got the you sort of pan away
[00:15:55] from like a cloud of bubbles into like a pink planet with like a bright pink tree with like
[00:16:02] plants you've never seen it's just gorgeous I found the like willow swing thing unsettling but I just
[00:16:10] find willow trees unsettling this is why I don't really understand why people are asking what they
[00:16:14] are because clearly they live on a different planet that is not an earth terrain is it or
[00:16:22] there's a habitat that exists here so clearly they're not earth bound are they highly irradiated
[00:16:29] dystopian future and yet chickens moles and frogs
[00:16:37] what a fun day we've all had can you remember who found the white line that's right it was fimbo
[00:16:48] he made it into a starting line and had a race it looked like fimbo and rocket were going to win
[00:16:55] but they fell asleep so pop and flurry were the winners
[00:17:02] perhaps you could have a race with your friends come and find us next time won't you now we must fly
[00:17:12] cheerie bye there is a book called luciana and the finders by sarah haze it's a illustrated
[00:17:21] story book and it has fimbo like creatures in it and they are the antagonists and they're like
[00:17:27] threatening to eat luci luciana and they're the predators their eyes are on the front and sarah
[00:17:35] haze worked on the fimbles like collaborated with the fimbles because they took the design from
[00:17:40] that book so the fimbles are nothing like the creatures in the book but that is where they
[00:17:46] came from oh that's interesting yes it is they were they were originally the antagonists
[00:17:51] they originally wanted to eat children all of them have front-facing eyes i mean yeah
[00:17:55] all of them rocket does the bird yeah yeah all of them all right up close live in a predator world
[00:18:03] fimbly it's an eat it's a fimbly fimbly world it's a froggy frog world
[00:18:10] it's a doggy dog world it's a froggy frog world so wikipedia says they're like a cross between
[00:18:17] a hippo and a tapir i see that yeah i could really see the striking i had a thought today at work
[00:18:23] that if a brazil nut was an animal it would be a tapir if a brazil nut was an animal it would
[00:18:28] be a fimbly yeah they oh no i can't it's gone okay great great content it was just another oh
[00:18:37] uh it just reminded me of have you guys ever played viva pinata no i've played on a pinata
[00:18:44] you played on a pinata no i've never done pinata before viva pinata is a game where you
[00:18:51] you basically use create your own garden and you're trying to attract pinatas to want to
[00:18:55] live in it oh yeah no it's it's a paper donkey yeah it's no rainbow donkey once you've got to make
[00:19:03] it look all nice and cool so the little rainbow donkey wants to live you've never played it
[00:19:10] so you like the first the first one you get is a whirly worm and they just want grass right um
[00:19:15] and when they arrive at your garden they're black and white and when they decide to stay in
[00:19:19] your garden they'll change into like a full-coloured version it sounds a bit like a cross between
[00:19:24] and pokemon mega you're my best sport don't you it's it's cuter and more i actually think i have
[00:19:32] played viva pinata that's why i know when they decide to live in your in your garden you can make them
[00:19:38] a home they can mate um and then they have this little animation of them like ps uh there's an
[00:19:44] xbox one but it's also on windows um and they do a little animation the best games are they yeah
[00:19:50] they do a little dance animation to be like we want to stay and it's it's actually really really cute
[00:19:55] and it very fimbles coded because the fimbles would fit in well in that world oh i'm sure on
[00:20:01] there's eat sorry tangent there's evil pinatas that will eat your pinatas that are like red and
[00:20:06] poison oh my god there's a threat there's a threat well that's nature and you're gonna let it take
[00:20:11] its course no no you kill them with a shovel great yeah like the red ones you know they're
[00:20:16] doing that with gray squirrels now yeah because they're like the red one who do you think in fimbles
[00:20:21] world is the predator the frog poison that's clearly a poison frog saying that they're kind of like
[00:20:31] badges right was it badges herbivores tapirs and hippos oh oh because i read somewhere that
[00:20:37] they're a bit like badges because their whole thing is like burrowing finding oh but if they
[00:20:44] are like any of these creatures they've snaffled that frog they're not mates with them they've
[00:20:48] eaten it already that's why i think they're like a badge and they've eaten everything that a
[00:20:52] fucking car that's why i think he's poisonous he's cut why not everything's colorful maybe
[00:20:57] they're all poisonous if they were real they'd be poisonous yeah should we talk about what happens
[00:21:02] in an episode yeah so um the episode generally starts with something irritating
[00:21:09] you were talking about one earlier where they got their hiccups right so it starts basically
[00:21:17] the episode 10 to come full circle i'll give you an example because i watch someone when they have
[00:21:21] hiccups um fimbo is the male fimble yeah the yellow and green one he's wandering around um
[00:21:30] scare that he's just jumping up on them basically and they're both like no we didn't
[00:21:36] like that stop stop doing that nobody liked that
[00:21:49] did you like my surprise no up on jump but my surprises are the best that's what i'm doing today
[00:21:56] surprises you know sometimes if you've been bouncing about you just need to sit quietly for a bit
[00:22:04] well i do anyway just right for sitting quietly for a bit
[00:22:22] hello did you like my surprise well the thing is i just wanted to sit quietly for a bit oh dear
[00:22:32] me even rocket didn't like my surprise well that's what i'm doing today jumping out and surprising
[00:22:39] everyone uh flurry and parmilla ones flurry says i'm getting that fimble fimbling feeling or whatever
[00:22:46] is it just a fimbly feeling feeling yeah oh oh oh i'm getting the fimbling feeling too
[00:23:08] so am i we're all going to find something
[00:23:12] hooray
[00:23:17] here is sound it's telling me there's something waiting to be found where is it where is it what
[00:23:37] could it be i think it might be over there like something here where is it is it here or is it there
[00:23:53] oh can you see it anywhere and they go looking for something and what they find is hiccups
[00:24:01] and they've got the hiccups and then they sing a song about the hiccups and then
[00:24:06] and you often see like a cut towards real life humans yeah yeah i'm interacting with what they
[00:24:11] find and then i have points about that we'll okay and then pom gets the hiccups as well
[00:24:17] and then obviously it comes back around to the fact that um fimbo is scaring people and that's how
[00:24:25] he gets rid of their hiccups except he's gone round and made basically everyone jump and
[00:24:32] fimbo no sorry pom and flurry have gone off to have their little hiccup adventure
[00:24:37] and he's still looking for people to jump up on and rocket the frog who's just i don't remember
[00:24:42] where he says his beam but he's like oh i'm really tired i just want to sit here quietly
[00:24:50] big yellow and green pot jumps up on him and he's like did you like my surprise
[00:24:57] so the frog's like fuck off no i feel like um fimbo just wasn't getting it like nobody
[00:25:05] wanted to be surprised so the fimbly feeling uh is what they get before they go off and find an
[00:25:12] object and then the rest of the episode is dedicated to teaching the audience about what that object
[00:25:17] is sometimes it's a concept yeah sometimes it's an affliction yeah i'm i want to read to you um
[00:25:25] my favorite so each episode is named after what they find and i'm gonna name you the best ones
[00:25:32] there's so many episodes or i watch one where they get sneezes yeah it was called tissue and they get
[00:25:36] the smizzles oh tissues tissues is on my list so there's yellow keys tissues
[00:25:48] it better be good big box and then the next one is
[00:26:00] box of straws
[00:26:05] i don't think they're right after one after another but they are two different episodes
[00:26:10] white line
[00:26:22] smelly sock running out of ideas and zills do you know what a zill is no the finger symbols used by belly
[00:26:31] dancers i'm sorry they really ran out of ideas yeah but because we didn't know what a zill was
[00:26:39] like the last episode you as a four-year-old you go home you're sorry you run up to your parents
[00:26:45] you're like guys guys guys i know what zills are and your parents go what guys guys guys i know what
[00:26:51] white lines are i'm interested to watch that episode because i've not i've not seen it because
[00:26:56] we couldn't oh my god we couldn't watch all of them because they're like what 20 minutes long
[00:27:00] oh they are too they are too long 300 episodes yeah that long that that i understand how they have
[00:27:06] and i don't think they miss use the length of time but it's like you you pause it you're like
[00:27:10] i'm sorry wait there's uh there's 17 minutes left so the person that the person the character
[00:27:18] that there are people they're sentient the one that explains the what the objects are the
[00:27:24] education one is a hen called bessie that's an annoying northern hen i didn't think she was i
[00:27:34] liked her so annoying i like her i liked how she called she called them chucky eggs my chucky egg
[00:27:41] me chucky eggs yeah and i have something to say about chucky eggs so chucky eggs is your god say
[00:27:46] that yes has it when chucky lays eggs no it's not chucky egg it's just a name for an egg it's
[00:27:52] or is it like a way of cooking an egg i don't know but you can you can call an egg it's like 36
[00:27:57] ways to cook eggs i don't think chucky is unless that's i don't know i mean replies on a chicken
[00:28:05] that cooks right if you if you throw it fast enough surely like oh my god why do we always
[00:28:12] talk about eggs on this podcast anyway chucky egg is a thing you can say if you agree with me
[00:28:20] if you've heard this term answer to my postcard tell us on instagram let us know but my dad says it a
[00:28:25] lot and one day he got up off the sofa and said right i'm going for a chucky apple that's so funny
[00:28:31] it doesn't have the same ring to it but now as a household we call apples chucky apples you could
[00:28:37] chucky anything mate and it'll cook it if you chucky it by itself
[00:28:43] do have i talked about the tooth thing on the podcast what no that's weird thing your
[00:28:47] grand marco's teeth toothy pegs have we talked about that okay again if you've heard the term
[00:28:54] toothy pegs for teeth toothy pegs you know i think would be a really good like similar
[00:29:00] footy pegs your toes your fingers we we've had this exact same conversation before but with lashes
[00:29:11] like fingers they give us your hand lashes toe to your foot lashes feet are your leg lashes
[00:29:20] and teeth teeth are your mouth lashes hands are your arm lashes
[00:29:29] can boobs be your chest lashes yeah sure yeah all right and then nipples are your breast lashes
[00:29:34] it works it works why are you your booby pegs
[00:29:45] my god i don't think you've ever said anything that funny ever
[00:29:52] i'm gonna call them that from now on your booby pegs
[00:29:57] i would love to call them that to a doctor
[00:30:00] right sorry why are you here today miss oh i've got a problem with my booby pegs
[00:30:07] you what he's like right now i'm just gonna refer you to the psychiatrist
[00:30:14] so you've got bessie bessie yeah oh bless me tail feathers what a lot of yellow
[00:30:22] oh that's right you can walk all the way around it because it's a circle a big yellow circle
[00:30:39] she's got a little chick he's called ribble that's a terrible name oh yeah it is no it's cute cute name
[00:30:45] would you like to be named ribble well no there you go there you go there you go don't be
[00:30:50] silly are you taking this seriously
[00:30:55] yeah my fuck
[00:30:58] oh yes please rebel let's get a cracker i'll see you later bessie
[00:31:08] was that rebel on a roller skate it was i'd better go and find him oh yes please
[00:31:13] and tell him to be careful oh i will bessie bye uh then you got so yeah you got her
[00:31:20] sort of chiming in throughout the episode you've also got rolly moe lovely welsh rolly moe
[00:31:30] that's a catchy little song flurry rolly what's your favorite color oh um my favorite color is purple
[00:31:41] coming to our yellow circle rolly it's lovely and warm well now i don't know that i need to
[00:31:47] get any warmer i've got my thick fur coat to keep me warm but uh shall i find you a story
[00:31:56] yes a warm yellow story i think i know just the one he lives in a hole and he rolls
[00:32:05] i was on the phone to my parents the other night i said do you remember fimbles my mum was like
[00:32:09] yeah of course i do my dad was like i don't really know and she said oh the roll that the
[00:32:14] mull that rolled and he was like oh he rolled yeah i remember him and when we got on instagram and
[00:32:19] started talking about fimbles everyone was like rolly moe everyone remembers rolly moe he's everyone's
[00:32:24] favorite and he is the best part of it and he got his own spin off which was more successful also
[00:32:29] the set for rolly moe is like the set for a fimbles nice the set for rolly moe actually gorgeous
[00:32:36] like actually really really nice to look at in every single like room yeah there's like
[00:32:40] four different rooms in it yeah it's quite uh a fimbles and rolly moe is quite a high tech
[00:32:46] production it looks like i must have watched the shit out of this when i was a kid because i didn't
[00:32:51] even remember the fimbles like opening theme song but i did remember the rolly moe song
[00:32:56] you get the set she remembered the words to it the second that song came on because i had been
[00:33:02] like adamant i was like i don't think i ever watched it i don't remember this at all that i
[00:33:05] watched it and that song i was like fuck i remember this i remember this so much i'm the opposite i didn't
[00:33:12] remember that rolly moe had a song but i i remembered the opening song i think it's a lovely opening
[00:33:18] song i think it's really nice have you got a story rolly have you have you have you well as a
[00:33:24] matter of fact i have rock it well can we hear it oh that's a story story oh of course well then
[00:33:32] i'll be back in a rolly bow
[00:33:39] when you take a look inside a book it's fun as fun can be oh now whatever yeah
[00:33:47] when you take a look inside a book who knows what you might see a story or rhyme just take the time
[00:33:58] to read along with me here we are then oh i see you're both sitting comfortably yes rolly
[00:34:10] good then i'll begin yeah rolly moe is just a very comforting lovely presence he just looks so
[00:34:17] comfy and round and i i love him i do such vivid memories of like the way the books look the way
[00:34:24] that one that he picks up looks and i was just like i think that the mole i i think the mole eyes
[00:34:32] next to the fimble eyes look a bit creepy and i don't think you notice this when you watch in
[00:34:38] the show but i googled it and i was looking at pictures i think i was making an instagram story
[00:34:42] or something and it had a picture of like rolly moe next to the fimbles and i think his
[00:34:47] eyes look a bit a bit creepy okay in comparison he's that big and black right whereas their fimbles
[00:34:54] are quite like beady beady and they just look a bit goofy he is like i'm looking at you right now
[00:35:01] you've seen a mole i've seen them oh yeah i've never seen a mole i saw a mole at uni and i was uh
[00:35:06] there were lots of mole hills uh uni and i was walking up the hill one day and i saw one of
[00:35:12] the mole hills fucking rustling and i was like oh my god i'm about to see a mole oh what a treat
[00:35:20] they were it was i if i wasn't scared i would catch something if it bit me i would have grabbed it
[00:35:25] and taken it home it was so cute you are so your mother's daughter yeah but she has she's not afraid
[00:35:31] of anything i she would have fear of tempering she'd have been like rabies sure rabies don't
[00:35:37] i know it doesn't i know it doesn't sorry in this country it does exist just be clear
[00:35:44] so if you think that rolly moe is creepy i didn't think he was creepy that no i don't
[00:35:48] actually think he's creepy i just thought in the picture next to the fimbles his eyes are
[00:35:52] noticeably big and black so let's talk about rocket the frog i'm a post frog of my name is
[00:35:59] rocket what does that mean okay so he's a post frog inadvertently covered two shows
[00:36:05] that you want do you think it means use frogs as postmen and they don't need a
[00:36:12] post frog in this universe because they ignore like there's no one else there's no one else there's
[00:36:16] like five of them you'd be a very fast post frog oh yes i'll be the fastest post frog whoever
[00:36:22] delivered anything
[00:36:52] Look at her, sweetie.
[00:36:55] Um, I found Rocket very irritating.
[00:36:57] Yes.
[00:36:58] He's like that what it like if he was your mate, you'd beat him up.
[00:37:01] Like is that one mate that chats so much shit at the pub?
[00:37:05] He's like Jay from the in-betweeners.
[00:37:07] He's like Jay from the in-betweeners.
[00:37:08] The archetype was there.
[00:37:10] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:37:11] He's creepy looking.
[00:37:13] He's he's off putting.
[00:37:14] He's got like I this is probably unintentional, but like he had he moved his arms and I could like see the cuffs
[00:37:22] of his skin and I was like, I don't like that at all.
[00:37:25] It's like what's the word?
[00:37:28] It's like, um, ruched up.
[00:37:30] It's like wrinkled.
[00:37:31] Yeah, what's the word?
[00:37:32] It's puckered.
[00:37:33] Yeah, yeah.
[00:37:34] Very strange.
[00:37:35] And it was just I was like, I shouldn't be seeing that when I was a kid.
[00:37:38] So I really, really, really love the fimbles.
[00:37:41] But I until yesterday I did remember now you anything about it.
[00:37:47] I remember that I had a real soft spot for Rocket.
[00:37:49] I loved Rocket.
[00:37:50] I didn't have a crush on Rocket, but it was the child equivalent.
[00:37:54] He was my favorite, right?
[00:37:56] Now he makes me feel murderous.
[00:37:58] I hate him.
[00:38:00] I don't think that's what love is else.
[00:38:02] If you're not willing to go crazy for someone you don't really love him.
[00:38:06] I don't think I watched enough rocket content because like he wasn't in the ones
[00:38:10] I watched that much for me to form much of an opinion about him.
[00:38:13] So I will take you guys's word for it.
[00:38:15] He's got the voice of a creepy clown.
[00:38:18] Yeah, he does.
[00:38:19] And he has this noise that he makes.
[00:38:20] And every time he made it, I just wanted to kill someone with my hands.
[00:38:26] That's a picture of me.
[00:38:27] That's a picture of me.
[00:38:31] I was killing him.
[00:38:32] Yeah, googling like fimbles read it just to see what people are talking about.
[00:38:36] And there was some there was a very long thread about the different crushes
[00:38:39] people had and like a lot of people like, oh, I didn't have any crushes
[00:38:42] on the fimbles, but I had crushes on this tweety.
[00:38:44] And I was like, was it my low?
[00:38:46] A lot of people did.
[00:38:47] It was multiple different ones.
[00:38:49] I wasn't my low the first one I saw.
[00:38:50] I can't remember who it was.
[00:38:52] And I, sorry, I haven't watched the Twitties.
[00:38:55] I was just like, I, I feel rude judging people for having crushes on.
[00:39:03] Farm people.
[00:39:04] What were they made of?
[00:39:05] Felt felt.
[00:39:06] I reckon felt people because it's like when I was a kid, I had a crush
[00:39:10] on so many animated characters.
[00:39:11] So I don't think that's a place to judge.
[00:39:13] But I was like, that feels weird.
[00:39:15] Oh my God, someone left a comment on one of the reels like
[00:39:19] the green and pink one was where it was at.
[00:39:21] And I was like, well, this is what happens to baby.
[00:39:23] Yeah, this is what happens when a real leaves your circle.
[00:39:29] He starts to get weirdos coming in things.
[00:39:31] I'm like, what?
[00:39:31] The one that's actually audibly a baby.
[00:39:35] No, you and a toddler, it's a baby.
[00:39:37] It's the baby.
[00:39:38] Barely formed words.
[00:39:39] I forgot that one of them couldn't form words.
[00:39:41] I that left my mind entirely.
[00:39:44] And she always really cute.
[00:39:45] Yeah, I like mom.
[00:39:46] She structures her sentences like like three year olds,
[00:39:49] which is like, Pom is going to help because she doesn't understand.
[00:39:53] I was going to say, what do you think?
[00:39:56] Pom is going to hell.
[00:40:01] I think a lot of listeners probably thought that's where you were going as well.
[00:40:09] Hello, Pom.
[00:40:10] Pom got snaggy.
[00:40:13] Oh, Pom.
[00:40:14] That's right.
[00:40:15] Have you seen my silky anywhere?
[00:40:17] No.
[00:40:17] Pom, that's your nip.
[00:40:19] All right then.
[00:40:20] Foy?
[00:40:21] Yes, Pom.
[00:40:22] Have Pom found Foy's silky?
[00:40:25] Pom bring it to Foy.
[00:40:26] All right.
[00:40:27] Oh, thank you, Pom.
[00:40:29] That was really kind of you.
[00:40:30] That's all right, Foy.
[00:40:31] See you later.
[00:40:32] Wee!
[00:40:34] I remember I loved the fimbles so much.
[00:40:36] I had like, I think an annual or a fimbles annual or something.
[00:40:40] And it came with stickers and they're like decorated around my room
[00:40:44] with stickers and the one that lasted the longest was the one
[00:40:47] that I'd put on my light switch,
[00:40:49] which I think was only taken off when I like went to uni.
[00:40:54] And in my second year of uni came home and my mum and dad had
[00:40:57] destroyed your room.
[00:40:58] So I've probably seen that sticker.
[00:40:59] Yeah, it redecorated my room and I think it was Rocket.
[00:41:03] I think it was Rocket.
[00:41:05] But I don't remember because I definitely at some point
[00:41:08] had them all stuck somewhere.
[00:41:09] Rocket looks like the rainforest cafe frog.
[00:41:13] Oh.
[00:41:14] Rocket had his own radio show.
[00:41:16] Let's talk it up.
[00:41:17] On CBB's radio.
[00:41:19] There was a CBB's radio?
[00:41:20] There was a CBB's radio.
[00:41:21] Then it got rebranded as part of BBC Radio 4.
[00:41:25] And it is, I think, still on for a couple of hours in the morning
[00:41:29] once a week.
[00:41:30] And you can also listen to it on the CBBC website.
[00:41:34] So I watched a bit of this on YouTube,
[00:41:37] like someone put pictures to it.
[00:41:39] And it's basically the structure of the fimbles
[00:41:43] but without the fimbles and just with Rocket's voice.
[00:41:46] And oh my God, it's unbearable.
[00:41:50] Soggy rocket with a pocket.
[00:41:52] That's me.
[00:41:55] It's raining in Fimble Valley today.
[00:41:58] Hippity hoppity ho!
[00:41:59] How'd ya digley do?
[00:42:01] How'd ya digley do?
[00:42:03] Hello everyone.
[00:42:05] How'd ya got ya Rocket pocket?
[00:42:07] Yes, we've got our Rocket pocket.
[00:42:10] Yippity dippity.
[00:42:11] Then let's ring Rolly's doorbell.
[00:42:14] BING
[00:42:15] BING
[00:42:16] BING
[00:42:17] Ooh, what's that sound?
[00:42:19] Tee-hee, let's ring Rolly's doorbell again.
[00:42:23] BING
[00:42:25] BING
[00:42:26] I wonder what that sound can be?
[00:42:28] Let's go and find out.
[00:42:30] WAHEY!
[00:42:31] HA HA HA HA!
[00:42:33] Hello, Rolly!
[00:42:35] HAH HA HAH!
[00:42:36] OOH!
[00:42:37] I can't hear Rolly.
[00:42:40] But I can hear something.
[00:42:43] I should cut on the other thing, would ya?
[00:42:45] Yeah, I mean I-
[00:42:46] That's Meg's hell, that's her punishment.
[00:42:48] I asked you to watch it just for context.
[00:42:50] I could understand if you didn't.
[00:42:52] No.
[00:42:53] No.
[00:42:54] I mean, I'm sorry that must have got lost
[00:42:56] because I didn't even see you'd sent that.
[00:42:58] This is what I do for them.
[00:42:59] I try and help them.
[00:43:00] I'm sorry.
[00:43:01] It's alright, it's alright.
[00:43:02] I'm sorry but also I don't want to
[00:43:04] because that's all I've got.
[00:43:05] Yeah, it was.
[00:43:06] I can imagine.
[00:43:07] I tried to watch, like, because sometimes
[00:43:10] sometimes you don't need to watch much of a thing
[00:43:12] to get an idea of it, right?
[00:43:14] But I feel like I should- oh, watch as many as I can
[00:43:17] sort of things to talk about.
[00:43:18] Any weird stuff that happens, that kind of thing.
[00:43:20] But it was so
[00:43:22] head-emptying to watch the film
[00:43:25] because it is very accurately aimed
[00:43:28] for very young kids.
[00:43:30] I mean we loved it so clearly
[00:43:32] they've done a fabulous job.
[00:43:34] I didn't love it.
[00:43:36] It's the song stuff that you're remembering.
[00:43:37] Oh, yeah.
[00:43:38] Yeah, no, that's true but it was like
[00:43:39] it was so
[00:43:41] emptying my brain because it was so nothing.
[00:43:44] It was so nothing to engage with.
[00:43:46] It was like difficult to watch many
[00:43:48] if that makes sense.
[00:43:49] I drifted off a lot.
[00:43:50] This always crops up for me
[00:43:52] because genuinely one of the ways
[00:43:53] that I entertain myself watching stuff
[00:43:55] is like question the logic of it.
[00:43:57] They have those little windows
[00:43:59] so they have the theme or whatever
[00:44:01] the lesson for the episode
[00:44:02] and then they show it in reality
[00:44:04] as if you're being used
[00:44:06] or exhibited or whatever.
[00:44:07] I wonder what they do.
[00:44:09] Hello, Fimble Love.
[00:44:11] What have you found?
[00:44:13] I don't know.
[00:44:14] It's got one, two, three, four wheels
[00:44:19] but I don't know what it is.
[00:44:21] Well, it's a roller skate.
[00:44:23] A roller skate?
[00:44:25] Um, what does it do?
[00:44:27] Shall we have a look and see?
[00:44:29] Oh yes please, Pissie.
[00:44:30] Then come with me.
[00:44:33] Come and see the big wide world.
[00:44:39] The big...
[00:44:48] We are roller skating.
[00:44:57] When you are roller skating
[00:44:58] you move one foot forward
[00:45:00] and the other foot forward.
[00:45:03] We are practicing on our roller skates.
[00:45:06] When you learn to roller skate
[00:45:08] you can go really far.
[00:45:11] It's quite tricky because sometimes you fall over.
[00:45:16] They were commenting on it
[00:45:18] like they could all see it
[00:45:19] and I was just like
[00:45:21] this is really...
[00:45:22] Like where...
[00:45:23] What's the origin of this live stream of a child?
[00:45:27] Do the people in it know
[00:45:28] that they're being watched by aliens?
[00:45:30] What's going on?
[00:45:31] Why can they all see it?
[00:45:33] I was just...
[00:45:34] That's so strange.
[00:45:35] You might be the only person ever
[00:45:37] to have that problem.
[00:45:38] Oh no, it's not like a problem.
[00:45:39] It's just something I thought while I was watching it
[00:45:41] because like another kind of show
[00:45:43] you might cut back to the studio
[00:45:45] and there's a screen showing them
[00:45:47] or it's Bagpuss' brain.
[00:45:50] They're all hallucinating together.
[00:45:53] But they're all hallucinating a pertinent lesson.
[00:45:56] It's also always...
[00:45:57] A pertinent lesson?
[00:45:59] What yellow?
[00:46:00] What was yellow?
[00:46:03] What was white lines?
[00:46:06] Hello there, Flory Love.
[00:46:08] Oh, Bessie.
[00:46:09] I've found something very funny.
[00:46:12] You've found a hiccup.
[00:46:15] Hiccup?
[00:46:16] Yes.
[00:46:21] There's a funny little something
[00:46:23] that makes a funny sound.
[00:46:25] It's very hard to find it
[00:46:27] but you know when it is found.
[00:46:29] Have you seen the reel about the girl
[00:46:30] who's talking about like...
[00:46:31] She's like there's this theory
[00:46:33] that people with ADHD
[00:46:34] don't fall asleep.
[00:46:35] They just pass out
[00:46:36] and then goes on to say why she thinks
[00:46:38] this is the case for her
[00:46:40] and everyone in the comments is like
[00:46:42] I don't think that's passing out G2 ADHD.
[00:46:44] I think you should be checked for narcolepsy.
[00:46:46] There's a lot of comorbidity
[00:46:48] with ADHD and narcolepsy.
[00:46:50] One of them is like...
[00:46:52] She was like I was having a conversation
[00:46:54] and I fell asleep while I was talking
[00:46:56] to this person
[00:46:57] and I thought I was replying to someone
[00:46:59] in my dream but it was like
[00:47:01] everyone in the comments was like
[00:47:02] that's not passing out.
[00:47:04] That's not normal.
[00:47:06] He has slight narcolepsy
[00:47:08] that is triggered when he eats chocolate
[00:47:10] and he was once walking along the street
[00:47:13] and he knew he was about to fall asleep
[00:47:15] and as he fell onto his friend
[00:47:17] he just said I'm sorry.
[00:47:19] Do you have like a dog or...
[00:47:21] Can dogs sense that?
[00:47:22] I presume no idea.
[00:47:23] Can you have like a helper dog?
[00:47:24] The thing was like
[00:47:25] I obviously it's very serious disease
[00:47:27] but it's also fucking hysterical
[00:47:29] because you just collapse of sleep
[00:47:31] but I was watching a thing
[00:47:32] and like one of the characters
[00:47:33] had narcolepsy
[00:47:35] and I wonder if you have narcolepsy
[00:47:37] is it to your benefit for your house
[00:47:39] to have a lot of soft surfaces?
[00:47:41] Because this guy was talking to someone
[00:47:43] and they had a glass table
[00:47:45] and he kept smacking his face
[00:47:47] into the glass table
[00:47:49] and I was like wow
[00:47:50] you gotta consider these things.
[00:47:54] When you're furnishing your own
[00:47:56] is that gonna hurt if I pass out onto it?
[00:48:00] It's like alcoholics and narcoleptics
[00:48:02] all in the soft dial.
[00:48:04] Just putting those little
[00:48:06] toddler-proof things on all the corners.
[00:48:09] They've all broken a bone, haven't they?
[00:48:11] I put a tiny little child's chair
[00:48:13] onto an armchair
[00:48:15] fell off of it
[00:48:17] and smashed my elbow to pieces.
[00:48:20] I can't remember how old...
[00:48:21] I remember this so I must have been older than four
[00:48:23] to have this to be such a definite memory
[00:48:25] but I was once running around a picnic table
[00:48:27] chasing someone
[00:48:28] and slipped and smacked my face
[00:48:31] into the corner of the picnic table
[00:48:33] and I call it my big tooth
[00:48:36] but I've used that phrase with Meg
[00:48:38] she got very angry
[00:48:39] but you know everyone's got like a big tooth.
[00:48:41] I've got my front teeth.
[00:48:43] Yay you've got a bigger one right?
[00:48:44] I don't think so.

[00:50:00] Famously nice teeth go on.
[00:50:02] I had smacked my big tooth
[00:50:04] and it was like a baby tooth.
[00:50:06] It was like a baby tooth.
[00:50:08] I was like, I'm not brown.
[00:50:10] It went gray.
[00:50:12] She bruised the tooth.
[00:50:14] That's permanent.
[00:50:16] They stay like that until they fall out.
[00:50:18] It was like baby tooth.
[00:50:20] Photos of me that have been edited
[00:50:22] and photos of me that haven't been edited.
[00:50:24] It's like, oh, interesting.
[00:50:26] I just want to briefly talk about my broken bone.
[00:50:28] I fell down a flight of stairs
[00:50:30] when I was 10.
[00:50:32] I was in, why are you laughing?
[00:50:34] Because I thought you were going to die.
[00:50:36] Yeah, so
[00:50:38] so
[00:50:40] after a betty
[00:50:42] watched you fall down the stairs
[00:50:44] which must have been quite traumatic
[00:50:46] because they were quite, they were young.
[00:50:48] It must have been pretty traumatic for them.
[00:50:50] Like my mum heard it.
[00:50:52] They saw it and it's like, it's quite
[00:50:54] you know that flight of stairs, don't you Meg?
[00:50:56] It's not an insignificant level
[00:50:58] to fall from.
[00:51:00] I wouldn't take that flight of stairs lightly.
[00:51:02] No.
[00:51:04] I mean, I don't know if you had the same carpet
[00:51:06] but they've got one of these
[00:51:08] like carpet runners.
[00:51:10] No, it was different at the time.
[00:51:12] Because I've always felt a bit uneasy on that carpet
[00:51:14] because it doesn't feel particularly grippy.
[00:51:16] No, it's not.
[00:51:18] I feel like my foot is just going to slide off of it.
[00:51:20] Yes.
[00:51:22] No, this was a more grippy carpet.
[00:51:24] I still managed to fall anyway.
[00:51:26] I broke my, it was broken
[00:51:28] half. I was in a sling for a few months
[00:51:30] but when my
[00:51:32] my mum took me off to hospital
[00:51:34] and for a month he went what?
[00:51:36] Only after both your siblings
[00:51:38] went to school. Yeah, they went to school
[00:51:40] and then apparently
[00:51:42] Can you manage to go to school?
[00:51:46] I told my dad this story
[00:51:48] and he lost it because like
[00:51:50] I know you were there.
[00:51:52] I need to take them to school.
[00:51:54] Yeah, so my mum drove
[00:51:56] three of us to school.
[00:51:58] We were going to walk.
[00:52:00] I thought that was the last time he was in my house.
[00:52:02] Yeah, but after taking
[00:52:04] help to be put down
[00:52:06] she'd gone
[00:52:08] late and there was nothing to do.
[00:52:12] So Arthur got into class
[00:52:14] and reports we've heard
[00:52:16] from the teachers that he started crying
[00:52:18] because he thought I was going to die.
[00:52:20] And that's on your mum
[00:52:22] for not you know
[00:52:24] making sure they were clear
[00:52:26] on the situation.
[00:52:28] She'll be fine.
[00:52:30] She'll be fine.
[00:52:32] Well actually my mum kept saying to me
[00:52:34] oh it'll just be a bad bruise.
[00:52:36] It's fine, it's fine.
[00:52:38] Meanwhile there's a dent in your chest.
[00:52:40] Oh my god it was snapped in half downwards.
[00:52:42] It was bad and
[00:52:44] I was
[00:52:46] I'm left handed and it was my left collar bone.
[00:52:48] Now my school
[00:52:50] they were quite new but they did have laptops
[00:52:52] they didn't bother
[00:52:54] letting me use a laptop
[00:52:56] they just made me right
[00:52:58] with my right hand for like three months
[00:53:00] and I
[00:53:02] hold to this. I really think
[00:53:04] that if I was right handed
[00:53:06] I'd broken my right one
[00:53:08] they wouldn't have made me right with my left hand.
[00:53:10] Like I think in their heads they just thought
[00:53:12] left handed isn't actually real
[00:53:14] you're just being silly aren't you?
[00:53:16] That's so rude.
[00:53:18] So I did and it was difficult.
[00:53:20] I was holding my elbow
[00:53:22] and during exams
[00:53:24] and they let me wait until it was healed enough
[00:53:26] that I could write.
[00:53:28] What's wrong with a fucking laptop?
[00:53:30] They could have let me type but they were like
[00:53:32] let's just wait.
[00:53:34] When my mum was at school she broke her collar bone
[00:53:36] in PE.
[00:53:38] I think they were doing handstands or something
[00:53:40] and her friend
[00:53:42] when you grab your partner's legs
[00:53:44] to hold them up in a handstand
[00:53:46] and instead of her friend grabbing her leg
[00:53:48] she accidentally kicked her in the head.
[00:53:50] I think, she can correct me on this
[00:53:52] but I think that's what happened.
[00:53:54] So her friend dropped her and she broke her collar bone
[00:53:56] and the PE teacher
[00:53:58] didn't believe that there was anything wrong with her
[00:54:00] and made her continue PE
[00:54:02] broken bits of bone
[00:54:04] with a broken collar bone in agony
[00:54:06] and she just had to sit through school the rest of the day
[00:54:08] and when she got home
[00:54:10] I'm pretty sure her mum was like what the fuck
[00:54:12] and obviously drove her to A&E
[00:54:14] and I could be making this up
[00:54:16] it might just be because I know who the PE teacher was
[00:54:18] and I want her to be in trouble
[00:54:20] but I'm pretty sure she was in trouble for doing this
[00:54:22] because you didn't believe a student
[00:54:24] and she had quite about the broken collar bone.
[00:54:26] I just want to add one more thing
[00:54:28] we made it sound like my mum was quite negligent
[00:54:30] on that morning, she wasn't.
[00:54:32] Of course she wasn't.
[00:54:34] Well, would you have broken a collar bone?
[00:54:36] Surely your parents
[00:54:38] carry you down the stairs.
[00:54:40] I was nearly...
[00:54:42] You turned your back for one second.
[00:54:44] I was just a little bit of a nuisance.
[00:54:46] Henry, will you play with me?
[00:54:48] No, I'm looking for a mole.
[00:54:50] Oh!
[00:54:52] I've got a mole.
[00:54:54] Rolly, roly, roly, roly mole
[00:54:56] Is the role as mole you'll ever know?
[00:55:00] I'm really not in the mood, thank you worm.
[00:55:02] Oh, okay.
[00:55:04] Rolly, roly, roly, roly mole
[00:55:06] Off you go, Rolly
[00:55:08] Roll over there.
[00:55:10] Can I talk about the person
[00:55:12] Can I talk about the personnel
[00:55:14] of the Fimbles?
[00:55:16] I don't know what you mean.
[00:55:18] What do you mean?
[00:55:20] The people involved.
[00:55:22] So it was by
[00:55:24] novel entertainment. They also made
[00:55:26] the animated
[00:55:28] Horrid Henry.
[00:55:30] Yeah, that came up a bunch.
[00:55:32] So Horrid Henry references
[00:55:34] the Fimbles a lot. It's really weird.
[00:55:36] So they have like
[00:55:38] mostly roly-mo.
[00:55:40] They have like toys in
[00:55:42] they do, yeah.
[00:55:44] It's kind of weird.
[00:55:46] So I watched a little bit of that.
[00:55:48] She's saying it's canon that CBBs
[00:55:50] exists in the Horrid Henry universe.
[00:55:52] I think it's so funny when there's these
[00:55:54] weird crossovers between stuff because
[00:55:56] they're like, oh, they mentioned it so it's real.
[00:55:58] It's like, okay.
[00:56:00] Because this is, neither of you
[00:56:02] will have any idea what I'm talking about.
[00:56:04] Apparently, Jiu-Jitsu Kaizen is now a part of DC
[00:56:06] because he was in Batman.
[00:56:08] So it's great.
[00:56:10] Fuck you.
[00:56:12] It's so weird.
[00:56:14] It's weird vibes today, guys.
[00:56:16] It is isn't it? It's a bit, sorry Laura.
[00:56:18] Wayne, Forrester.
[00:56:20] She's creating a hot style at my room.
[00:56:22] She's going to push me in a minute.
[00:56:24] Wayne Forrester
[00:56:26] played Roly-mo
[00:56:28] and Rocket.
[00:56:30] I was on his IMDB and he also has done
[00:56:32] a bunch of video game stuff and I'm like, he's done these
[00:56:34] lovely childhood TV shows
[00:56:36] and then he's all sort of like really dark video.
[00:56:38] I mean, that's what being an actor is.
[00:56:40] He's a big old voice actor.
[00:56:42] All the people involved in Fimbles.
[00:56:44] In fact, Kate Hub,
[00:56:46] who played Flory in one season,
[00:56:48] she played all the women
[00:56:50] in The Secret Show.
[00:56:52] Really? Yeah.
[00:57:06] What's the matter?
[00:57:08] Asked the prince.
[00:57:10] It's broken.
[00:57:12] Said the princess sadly.
[00:57:14] I've lost my music.
[00:57:16] Cheer up.
[00:57:18] Said the prince, I'll make some music for you.
[00:57:20] Listen to this.
[00:57:22] And he played some music for her
[00:57:24] on his homemade double bass.
[00:57:26] Aiden Cook who played Fimbo.
[00:57:28] He's a puppeteer also
[00:57:30] and he was in
[00:57:32] what's it called? Rogue One.
[00:57:34] Dave Chapman
[00:57:36] who we all know from
[00:57:38] Dick and Dom
[00:57:40] and we all know he was also in Rogue One.
[00:57:42] He puppeteered
[00:57:44] Rolly Moe.
[00:57:46] But actually a lot of the characters have multiple
[00:57:48] puppeteers working behind them.
[00:57:50] I was so impressed with the puppetry.
[00:57:52] Yeah.
[00:57:54] Puppeteer? Puppetry.
[00:57:56] It would go from the
[00:57:58] obviously encumbered movement
[00:58:00] of the Fimbles to Rolly Moe
[00:58:02] and it's really well-opened.
[00:58:04] I was like, oh, it's really impressive.
[00:58:06] Actually well done.
[00:58:08] So yeah, there's a lot of
[00:58:10] everyone that does a voice in it
[00:58:12] is quite a prolific voice actor.
[00:58:14] In fact when I was listening to
[00:58:16] Wayne Forrester doing
[00:58:18] the lovely Rolly Moe voice
[00:58:20] because he does all the voices when he's reading the stories as well
[00:58:22] I sometimes heard a bit of
[00:58:24] rocket slipping in there
[00:58:26] and you can tell that it's the same voice actor
[00:58:28] when he does that.
[00:58:30] I said the yellow elf.
[00:58:32] I'm going to paint the sun yellow.
[00:58:34] I can't wait to start painting
[00:58:36] said the green elf.
[00:58:38] I'm going to paint the grass green.
[00:58:40] And I can't wait to start painting
[00:58:42] said the red elf.
[00:58:44] I'm going to paint the flowers red.
[00:58:46] The only one that surprised me
[00:58:48] is the voice actor for Bessie.
[00:58:50] Yeah, she hadn't done much
[00:58:52] and I was like
[00:58:54] because I recognized her voice so much
[00:58:56] but she actually hadn't done anything else I've seen
[00:58:58] so I assume there's just an overlap
[00:59:00] with another woman.
[00:59:02] I think Tamsyn Heatley.
[00:59:04] She played POM as well.
[00:59:06] Do you know who she reminded me a bit of?
[00:59:08] Ross in Frasier.
[00:59:10] Oh yes.
[00:59:12] Do you mean Daphne?
[00:59:14] Oh sorry, not yet.
[00:59:16] Daphne, yeah.
[00:59:18] I think that Ross in Frasier has a lovely speaking voice.
[00:59:20] What about Daphne?
[00:59:22] Yeah kind of.
[00:59:24] So what annoys me about
[00:59:26] I mean Frasier is I think one of my favorite TV shows of all time.
[00:59:30] Daphne
[00:59:32] is from Manchester but she speaks like she's from Yorkshire.
[00:59:35] And they shouldn't have made that mistake
[00:59:37] because the actress is English.
[00:59:39] Yeah sometimes when you're here
[00:59:41] like this happens a lot, you're watching an American show
[00:59:43] and there's an English person
[00:59:44] and they've hammed it way the fuck up
[00:59:46] and you're like no way.
[00:59:47] Or maybe it may be
[00:59:49] you know
[00:59:51] Oh it could happen.
[00:59:52] Born in Yorkshire and just lived in Manchester.
[00:59:54] Yeah it could happen.
[00:59:56] But then all of her brothers have
[00:59:58] accents from entirely different regions.
[01:00:00] Well let's talk about Henry, friend of the pod.
[01:00:02] Okay.
[01:00:04] Who's got a very very neutral accent
[01:00:06] and then both of his sisters
[01:00:08] have got quite distinctive
[01:00:10] whole accents.
[01:00:12] How does that happen?
[01:00:14] Interesting.
[01:00:16] Like obviously
[01:00:18] This has literally grown up in the same place
[01:00:20] and gone to the same school
[01:00:22] and then all of them have got a significantly different accent.
[01:00:24] The variations
[01:00:26] upon accents from
[01:00:28] like everyone that I've met
[01:00:30] I'm like
[01:00:32] why don't you guys sound more similar to each other?
[01:00:34] There's such small
[01:00:36] and also massive differences
[01:00:38] between people who grew up like two miles apart.
[01:00:40] Yeah I was just going to say
[01:00:42] well part of our region is that
[01:00:44] there's a massive river in the middle
[01:00:46] of our region.
[01:00:48] The crack in the UK.
[01:00:50] That bridge hasn't even been there
[01:00:52] for all of my mum's lifetime.
[01:00:54] That's crazy that the Humber Bridge is not that old.
[01:00:56] If I had stayed here
[01:00:58] I would, there's a
[01:01:00] the region where I'm from nearby
[01:01:02] here
[01:01:04] that accent spans a really big area
[01:01:06] like I'd sound like people from
[01:01:08] like a 25 mile radius.
[01:01:10] In the olden days
[01:01:12] they didn't even have standardized time in that.
[01:01:14] Yeah.
[01:01:16] Pardon me.
[01:01:18] I don't want to have the same accent
[01:01:20] when they don't even have the same time.
[01:01:22] Yeah
[01:01:24] well imagine how your head's
[01:01:26] going to feel.
[01:01:28] I'm a boot in three days.
[01:01:30] I've got a friend called Marta
[01:01:32] she's wonderful
[01:01:34] she's not eccentric
[01:01:36] but because she's Italian
[01:01:38] I as a British person find her eccentric
[01:01:40] she said, she was saying like
[01:01:42] I was saying I've got a headache
[01:01:44] and she was like have you pooed
[01:01:46] well it's all connected isn't it?
[01:01:48] That does sound like something my grandma would say
[01:01:50] How's your head going to feel if you're not pooed for two days
[01:01:52] is what she said to me.
[01:01:54] She's got a point.
[01:01:56] That does sound like something my grandma would say
[01:01:58] to be fair.
[01:02:00] Everything's connected.
[01:02:02] Very holistic.
[01:02:04] Irish, Italian
[01:02:06] Catholic
[01:02:08] That was the connection.
[01:02:10] So Bessie
[01:02:12] find us
[01:02:14] Oh I love her
[01:02:16] Your accent just changed
[01:02:18] She's such a nosy busy body
[01:02:20] Yeah but she's an old woman
[01:02:22] She's a neighbour that's always
[01:02:24] popping round and peeping through your curtains
[01:02:26] Yeah but someone's got to keep them in check
[01:02:28] they are basically children
[01:02:30] and she is like her and
[01:02:32] Rolly Moe are like
[01:02:34] childminders of these girls
[01:02:36] They could step on her by accident
[01:02:38] and not even know who to pick
[01:02:40] Yeah that's true, they can sit on her
[01:02:42] and barely fly
[01:02:44] Oh my god this is what I was going to say
[01:02:46] So in the opening
[01:02:48] She reminds me of Flappy Bird
[01:02:50] Because she's a chicken basically
[01:02:52] In the opening
[01:02:54] it's like this lovely floaty
[01:02:56] dreamy gorgeous
[01:02:58] opening and then
[01:03:00] Bessie
[01:03:02] But Bessie
[01:03:04] starts flying and she looks
[01:03:06] like she's trying so hard
[01:03:08] Like this is
[01:03:10] like an audio format
[01:03:12] I beg you go watch that opening
[01:03:14] because it ruins the vibe
[01:03:16] She's like focusing straight ahead
[01:03:18] flapping as hard as you can
[01:03:20] What a legacy for the dinosaurs
[01:03:22] Yeah
[01:03:26] It doesn't not look Jurassic
[01:03:28] It doesn't not look Jurassic
[01:03:34] You are very funny
[01:03:36] I mean there's really
[01:03:38] not too much to say about
[01:03:40] They've got a little teddy that is
[01:03:42] a small version of a fimble that they call
[01:03:44] Little One
[01:03:46] That's really weird but we have
[01:03:48] dolls, human dolls are like thousands
[01:03:50] of years old so that's fine
[01:03:52] Little One that's cute
[01:03:54] There's a trundle truck which is a little thing that
[01:03:56] pompashes along her trundle
[01:03:58] Oh yeah she was dropping tissues in it
[01:04:00] in the tissue episode
[01:04:02] It's yellow
[01:04:06] My favourite colour
[01:04:08] Oh and it's warm
[01:04:14] Warm like sunshine
[01:04:16] Little and warm
[01:04:18] The trundle truck
[01:04:20] warped upon make
[01:04:22] all warm
[01:04:24] Oh and me
[01:04:26] I'm warm too
[01:04:28] I love yellow
[01:04:30] I
[01:04:32] loved the fimbles as a kid
[01:04:34] but like I don't remember that much
[01:04:36] What I do remember is
[01:04:38] three Christmas specials
[01:04:40] I thought you were going to say like
[01:04:42] a three part Christmas special
[01:04:44] but that's too much fimble
[01:04:46] No if you asked me what my favourite Christmas was
[01:04:48] I would say this Christmas
[01:04:50] where I couldn't non stop
[01:04:52] not this Christmas, this Christmas I'm talking about
[01:04:54] I couldn't stop watching this VHS
[01:04:56] of or it might have been one of our very
[01:04:58] first DVDs actually but it was
[01:05:00] three episodes of the fimbles that were based around Christmas
[01:05:02] and I
[01:05:04] don't remember it very clearly but I remember
[01:05:06] the vibe and I remember
[01:05:08] being happy, like really happy
[01:05:10] and I watched it
[01:05:12] again yesterday and I realised why
[01:05:14] So
[01:05:16] part of
[01:05:18] this, so the first one is called Star
[01:05:20] and it's about a star
[01:05:22] second one is called
[01:05:24] Sparkles
[01:05:26] and
[01:05:28] the item they find is just
[01:05:30] glitter and
[01:05:32] they tell a story about
[01:05:34] Rolly Mow tells a story about
[01:05:36] Wow
[01:05:38] My God
[01:05:40] I'll just carry on and I'm going to keep that in
[01:05:42] So
[01:05:44] It's fine
[01:05:46] Isn't it horrible when your body does things
[01:05:50] Do you ever realise as you grow up
[01:05:52] you have less and less control over it
[01:05:54] It's gotten a little bit more regular
[01:05:58] We don't need to think about that
[01:06:00] So
[01:06:02] Actually no, I retract that my brain is
[01:06:04] eating itself
[01:06:06] Laura has her mess it's all very sad
[01:06:12] It's all very sad
[01:06:14] No, it's not even a joke she does
[01:06:16] You've got to be sensitive to any listeners
[01:06:18] who may have her mess
[01:06:20] Remember Elsie
[01:06:22] We live with one
[01:06:24] I guess this is the announcement
[01:06:26] We don't think her mess is funny
[01:06:28] We basically knew she had it
[01:06:30] But when
[01:06:32] she went to the hospital last
[01:06:34] Monday and when she was
[01:06:36] on her way back from the hospital
[01:06:38] this is how she announced it to me
[01:06:42] So the way that she decided
[01:06:44] to announce it was she put this
[01:06:46] Snapchat filter on that made her
[01:06:48] into it was her face
[01:06:50] on lots of chips
[01:06:54] And it said in big green
[01:06:56] lessons doctor has diagnosed
[01:06:58] me with MS
[01:07:00] and she's grinning
[01:07:02] She's grinning
[01:07:04] lots of times on little
[01:07:06] She's a cone of fries
[01:07:08] The fries say
[01:07:10] Doctor has diagnosed me with MS
[01:07:16] It's good you can laugh about it
[01:07:18] Anyway, sorry about that Elsie
[01:07:20] No, it's fine
[01:07:22] So I was watching this episode
[01:07:24] and I was like this is why
[01:07:26] Child Elsie
[01:07:28] loved it so much because
[01:07:30] Rowley Moe was telling a story
[01:07:32] about a tree that
[01:07:34] was sad because all its leaves are gone
[01:07:36] but then Jack Frost painted it
[01:07:38] in like white
[01:07:40] like sparkly snow
[01:07:42] And he called two little elves
[01:07:44] who dipped their tiny silver
[01:07:46] buckets into the big pot
[01:07:48] The tree was still sighing
[01:07:50] when the elves flew over
[01:07:52] and started painting his branches
[01:07:56] Hey! said the tree
[01:07:58] Oh, stop that! It tickles
[01:08:00] We're giving you a winter coat
[01:08:02] Hee hee! Laughed the elves
[01:08:04] How's that?
[01:08:06] Moon asked the tree
[01:08:08] The tree looked at his branches
[01:08:10] Now they were all silver
[01:08:12] and glittering in the moonlight
[01:08:14] Oh, that's beautiful! said the tree
[01:08:18] A sparkly winter coat
[01:08:20] Thank you Moon
[01:08:22] Ah, don't thank me
[01:08:24] said the moon
[01:08:26] Thank Jack Frost
[01:08:28] Oh, lovely
[01:08:30] Oh, that was a lovely winter story, Rowley
[01:08:34] The tree was all sparkly
[01:08:36] and shiny with the cold frost
[01:08:38] Ah, sparkly, sparkly
[01:08:42] I remembered that image so much
[01:08:44] like I barely remember the episode
[01:08:46] but if you'd said what was your best Christmas
[01:08:48] I'd be like the vibes I felt
[01:08:50] that one year when I was watching
[01:08:52] the Fimbles episode about glitter
[01:08:54] and the real-life human bits
[01:08:56] they were like sifting through
[01:08:58] lots of glitter
[01:09:00] and not to be shallow
[01:09:02] but I fucking love sparkly things
[01:09:04] We were in the
[01:09:06] The Diamond Museum a few days ago
[01:09:08] in Antwerp
[01:09:10] Do you remember what I said in the Diamond Museum?
[01:09:12] I don't remember who I said it to
[01:09:14] but I said, I can see why
[01:09:16] I'm into this shit
[01:09:18] Yeah, you kind of took both of us
[01:09:20] Yeah, love it
[01:09:22] So I love the glitter episode of The Fimbles
[01:09:24] The Fimbles holds a very special place in my heart
[01:09:26] even if it's not an actual memory
[01:09:28] and it's just vibes
[01:09:30] I really am a big fan of The Fimbles
[01:09:32] Which one of you
[01:09:34] because it's one of you
[01:09:36] dumped glitter on a person for being homophobic
[01:09:38] That was me
[01:09:40] It was in a stairwell at school
[01:09:42] That's a good financial group
[01:09:44] I didn't know you'd done this
[01:09:46] Can you tell the story?
[01:09:48] No, I didn't know about this
[01:09:50] Wow, okay
[01:09:52] I can't believe you've been telling Laura things
[01:09:54] before you tell me
[01:09:56] She's had years to tell you
[01:09:58] It was in
[01:10:00] a GCSE art
[01:10:02] double period
[01:10:04] and in between the two hours
[01:10:06] we got a break
[01:10:08] and
[01:10:10] someone was calling someone else gay
[01:10:12] like, oh that's so gay
[01:10:14] I was like you shouldn't really do that
[01:10:16] and so she doubled down
[01:10:18] and she started like chanting gay
[01:10:20] at me and so I got some glitter
[01:10:22] out of my bag like a little tube of glitter
[01:10:24] and I threw it at her
[01:10:26] but none of it really got on her
[01:10:28] it all went on the floor
[01:10:30] Oh
[01:10:32] and even so
[01:10:34] the intent was there and she was
[01:10:36] furious with me
[01:10:38] and we were on our way to lunch
[01:10:40] so I panicked a little bit
[01:10:42] I was like I've just defaced school property
[01:10:44] I put glitter on the floor
[01:10:46] because it's messy isn't it?
[01:10:48] Was it carpet?
[01:10:50] No, but it was kind of
[01:10:52] textured anyway
[01:10:54] I told
[01:10:56] the head of year was like a cool guy
[01:10:58] and I just saw him
[01:11:00] and I was like I think I've done something
[01:11:02] a bit wrong
[01:11:04] You told on yourself? Yeah
[01:11:06] He was a nice guy
[01:11:08] and he was like
[01:11:10] a bit weird but okay
[01:11:12] I guess sweep it up
[01:11:14] and then so then we went back
[01:11:18] He goes home to his wife and says
[01:11:20] you never get what happened today
[01:11:22] So we went back to art class
[01:11:24] and this girl Chloe
[01:11:26] she was called
[01:11:28] she looked at me
[01:11:30] like she walked past me on the way
[01:11:32] to the teacher
[01:11:34] her eyes were basically saying you are going to be
[01:11:36] universally retributed
[01:11:38] like she was so unhappy
[01:11:40] So I saw her talking to the teacher
[01:11:42] and this teacher was like Elsie come here a sec
[01:11:44] I was like okay. It's alright miss I've already told
[01:11:46] that in a year! Yeah, literally
[01:11:48] and
[01:11:50] she said was it our
[01:11:52] was it the art supplies?
[01:11:54] I was like no it was just in my back
[01:11:56] My personal supply of glitter that I keep on hand
[01:11:58] to punish people
[01:12:00] It was just there she was like oh right
[01:12:02] I'm gonna go over there then fine
[01:12:04] I guess we'll hoover it up
[01:12:06] So Chloe was like going round telling all the class
[01:12:08] and they were like okay
[01:12:10] This isn't that like I don't know
[01:12:12] You were using gay as a slur
[01:12:14] I don't know what response you're expecting
[01:12:16] from people
[01:12:18] So she was asked to apologise
[01:12:20] and what she meant to say
[01:12:22] was
[01:12:24] I would rather shit in my hands and clap
[01:12:26] That's what she meant to say
[01:12:28] but what she actually got her words mixed up
[01:12:30] I would rather clap and shit
[01:12:32] like she
[01:12:34] and then
[01:12:36] I had to leave
[01:12:38] for an orthodontist appointment
[01:12:40] I had to leave school early
[01:12:42] and the head of art
[01:12:44] who was this
[01:12:46] butch lesbian
[01:12:48] I mean she was amazing
[01:12:50] I'm an amazing teacher
[01:12:52] on my way out
[01:12:54] she looked at me and said Elsie I'm not saying you should have done it
[01:12:56] but nice one
[01:12:58] I was like you're welcome this
[01:13:00] and when I came back
[01:13:02] I had realised
[01:13:04] like the class had
[01:13:06] rallied around me
[01:13:08] and what they'd done is they had
[01:13:10] made a card
[01:13:12] for Chloe
[01:13:14] and inside the card it said
[01:13:16] I would rather shit in
[01:13:18] clap
[01:13:22] You're who she thinks about at night
[01:13:24] when she's angry
[01:13:26] she would clap
[01:13:28] love from the homosexual community
[01:13:30] She became a gay icon
[01:13:34] She accidentally did
[01:13:36] so
[01:13:38] the whole class and all the teachers
[01:13:40] like very much on my side
[01:13:42] I lost a tube of glitter that day
[01:13:44] but I gained so much more
[01:13:46] So that's my story
[01:13:48] I can't believe I've never told you that
[01:13:50] That is an incredible story
[01:13:52] genuinely at night when she's
[01:13:54] in her bed she's thinking about school
[01:13:56] you're the regret
[01:13:58] that she has
[01:14:00] There are loads of times
[01:14:02] I wish I'd stuck up for myself
[01:14:04] more at school in that way
[01:14:06] I think there's only one time
[01:14:08] where I actually actively
[01:14:10] I remember being quite
[01:14:12] cheeky
[01:14:14] and I think I got away
[01:14:16] with a lot at school but I don't think I actually
[01:14:18] did very much to get me
[01:14:20] in trouble
[01:14:22] but I remember in my last year of school
[01:14:24] like year 11
[01:14:26] I was a prefect
[01:14:28] and there was this one year 8
[01:14:30] there were fucking loads of prefects
[01:14:32] we had 4
[01:14:34] no we had loads of doors
[01:14:36] basically being a prefect meant
[01:14:38] Amanda Dora at lunchtime
[01:14:40] My school it was
[01:14:42] you could walk on the grass
[01:14:46] You gained something
[01:14:48] I had a lunchtime taken off me every week
[01:14:50] so there were loads of us
[01:14:52] but there was this one year 8
[01:14:54] that had been such a twat to me
[01:14:56] all year
[01:14:58] such a scrawny tiny little cunt
[01:15:00] who took call me names
[01:15:02] and was just like
[01:15:04] I think we had
[01:15:06] I wasn't the kind of person who would take any of this
[01:15:08] to heart so I just kind of laugh it off
[01:15:10] so I don't know if he thought that we were joking
[01:15:12] but there was one particular day when I had enough
[01:15:14] of this little twat
[01:15:16] and I was walking down the music corridor
[01:15:18] it was like music and sport in the same corridor
[01:15:20] so there was a sports hall at the end
[01:15:22] of the corridor
[01:15:24] and there were these like 2 double doors
[01:15:26] in the middle of the corridor
[01:15:28] and our friend that me and Elsie had
[01:15:30] at college he held the door open
[01:15:32] for me to walk through
[01:15:34] and
[01:15:36] as I kind of cleared the door
[01:15:38] this little fucking year 8
[01:15:40] he came out from outside
[01:15:42] like bolted it down
[01:15:44] down the corridor
[01:15:46] I looked at our friend and before I could even
[01:15:48] stop myself
[01:15:50] I stuck my leg out for him to trip over
[01:15:52] because my friend was still
[01:15:54] holding the door open
[01:15:56] for this kid to come through
[01:15:58] I do I love it
[01:16:00] and the kid
[01:16:02] I expected him to trip but
[01:16:04] the kid went flying
[01:16:06] like he flew to the floor
[01:16:08] and skidded along the floor
[01:16:10] and obviously a PE teacher had heard
[01:16:12] me in the departure lounge
[01:16:14] and she heard the commotion of this child
[01:16:16] like kid running down the corridor
[01:16:18] and then obviously heard him be thrown
[01:16:20] to the ground
[01:16:22] and she came out
[01:16:24] saw him on the floor
[01:16:26] me with my foot out
[01:16:28] right so she definitely
[01:16:30] definitely made the connection
[01:16:32] of what I just did
[01:16:34] yeah well no
[01:16:36] she came out as it was happening
[01:16:38] watched it happen
[01:16:40] and clearly it had enough of him
[01:16:42] as well because I made eye contact with her
[01:16:44] and then she stepped back into the sports hall
[01:16:46] absolutely nothing
[01:16:48] to me she just was like get up
[01:16:50] my dad this story
[01:16:54] he was like you're a bully and I was like
[01:16:56] this couldn't have been harassing me all year
[01:16:58] why are you not proud of me
[01:17:00] for standing up for myself
[01:17:02] I didn't kill him
[01:17:04] what I did was teach him a lesson
[01:17:06] because he never fucking did it again
[01:17:08] there was one time
[01:17:10] we were all like bantering
[01:17:12] we were having fun and shit
[01:17:14] you know the thing where you move someone's chair
[01:17:16] before they sit down
[01:17:18] yeah very dangerous by someone's neck
[01:17:20] yeah I did that one time
[01:17:22] and it was like a
[01:17:24] mood where it felt like it wouldn't go down bad
[01:17:26] but it really really really did
[01:17:28] they were really really
[01:17:30] not happy that I'd done that
[01:17:32] all the humour left the room
[01:17:34] like when you cheated at UNO
[01:17:36] yeah I don't think it was cheating
[01:17:38] but yeah it's horrible
[01:17:40] can I tell a story
[01:17:42] you could edit this out if you want
[01:17:44] but this is like the most trouble I ever got into at school
[01:17:46] and I was thinking about this the other day
[01:17:48] because I don't know
[01:17:50] with some of the things I said to teachers
[01:17:52] at school
[01:17:54] I don't know how I didn't get into more trouble
[01:17:56] because I got away with a lot
[01:17:58] and I was in physics one day
[01:18:00] and I had like kind of
[01:18:02] I generally had quite a like
[01:18:04] bantery relationship with all the teachers
[01:18:06] but the physics teacher in particular
[01:18:08] clearly caught him on a really bad day
[01:18:10] because I think
[01:18:12] I don't remember what I've been
[01:18:14] saying or
[01:18:16] I don't remember what I said to him
[01:18:18] but he said to me
[01:18:22] oh our friend Mel as well
[01:18:24] she was sent out of this
[01:18:26] particular class and I don't remember
[01:18:28] why she was sent out but it was clearly for the same reason
[01:18:30] he said to me
[01:18:32] you do know that
[01:18:34] by saying this you're
[01:18:36] you're accidentally disrespecting a teacher
[01:18:38] and I said no sir
[01:18:40] I'm doing it on purpose
[01:18:44] and I remember
[01:18:46] that is a very
[01:18:48] meg thing to say
[01:18:50] I remember the intake of breath
[01:18:52] from the class
[01:18:54] right because I don't think it was
[01:18:56] it wasn't unknown that
[01:18:58] me and this teacher had this kind of like
[01:19:00] bantery relationship and I got away with it because I was good at physics
[01:19:02] and
[01:19:04] you're also very charming
[01:19:06] thanks and he was like
[01:19:08] so our isolation room or whatever
[01:19:10] he got sent to like Mel had been sent out
[01:19:12] I don't
[01:19:13] I see yeah yeah yeah
[01:19:15] anyway so I think
[01:19:17] she I think me and her have been talking but I think it was like genuinely about
[01:19:20] work or something and she was sent out
[01:19:22] and
[01:19:24] I was then he then said to me right
[01:19:26] go to the green room that's what our isolation room was called
[01:19:28] sounds lovely
[01:19:30] the only reason I was then
[01:19:32] not sent to isolation didn't have
[01:19:34] a detention home I had a clean school
[01:19:36] record no detentions was because
[01:19:38] I said to him I don't know where it is
[01:19:40] that you're gonna have to tell me where
[01:19:42] it is because I've never been before
[01:19:44] I'm not getting trouble and he said
[01:19:46] right okay just apologize
[01:19:48] to me then and I
[01:19:50] and I apologize I was like I'm sorry
[01:19:52] and he was like
[01:19:54] okay and I don't know if he knew
[01:19:56] that he was like on any other day
[01:19:58] he would have let me off with that and it would have been a joke
[01:20:00] and he didn't want to be the one
[01:20:02] to tarnish my school record
[01:20:04] but that is because
[01:20:06] any other day that would have just slid it
[01:20:08] was I actually have a similar
[01:20:10] story and it's related to moles
[01:20:12] so I think I should tell
[01:20:14] it sure so
[01:20:16] in year six
[01:20:18] we had a mole
[01:20:20] a very very cool teacher
[01:20:22] he was every spelling
[01:20:24] test at the end of the spelling test
[01:20:26] he would choose a child at random
[01:20:28] and he would tell a story
[01:20:30] about that child
[01:20:32] using every word from the
[01:20:34] spelling test so when it was
[01:20:36] my turn
[01:20:38] Pigeon was one of the words and I ended up
[01:20:40] like killing a Pigeon's
[01:20:42] wife and running off with him
[01:20:44] it was
[01:20:46] home record yeah it was
[01:20:48] it was a great teacher
[01:20:50] he taught us measurements
[01:20:52] by one of my friends was
[01:20:54] exactly a meter tall so he measured
[01:20:56] the room in Edwards and picked him up
[01:20:58] sideways and like
[01:21:00] he was really cool and
[01:21:02] he always
[01:21:04] made sure that even the quietest kids
[01:21:06] had like their moment
[01:21:08] where he would make them feel special
[01:21:10] and in the field
[01:21:12] there was a cornered off hole
[01:21:14] and
[01:21:16] we weren't allowed to go in it
[01:21:18] and after school
[01:21:20] a very quiet boy
[01:21:22] called Adam he I think
[01:21:24] some kids put his coat in the hole
[01:21:26] and he had to go in and get it
[01:21:28] and he was seen and he got put into
[01:21:30] tension for it
[01:21:32] and I think my teacher knew
[01:21:34] it wasn't his fault and he nicknamed him
[01:21:36] Holy Moly
[01:21:38] so whenever he called out
[01:21:40] his name in the register
[01:21:42] he would be like Elsie, Kate, Thomas
[01:21:44] Holy Moly
[01:21:46] and one afternoon
[01:21:48] he had the big red
[01:21:50] book of people that had been sent to
[01:21:52] over the term and he was making a point
[01:21:54] and you know when teachers are like
[01:21:56] you know it's a serious atmosphere
[01:21:58] like no one talks because
[01:22:00] you're being told off now
[01:22:02] we all filed in and he wasn't happy
[01:22:04] and he had the book and he was like
[01:22:06] I want you to sit down
[01:22:08] I want you to stand up if I read out
[01:22:10] your name and he was trying to make a point
[01:22:12] that a lot of us had been in it
[01:22:14] he was like
[01:22:16] Zach
[01:22:18] for talking in assembly
[01:22:20] for bullying
[01:22:22] and we were like oh god what's going to happen
[01:22:24] and then he went Adam
[01:22:30] for going down the hole
[01:22:36] and we all left
[01:22:38] anyway he was a really nice guy
[01:22:40] I could tell
[01:22:42] so many stories about him but I'm not going to
[01:22:44] because we've got limited time and I want to get back to the fimbles
[01:22:46] I think it's an interesting social skill
[01:22:48] you pick up as you get older at school
[01:22:50] is getting the vibe of the teacher
[01:22:52] well that happens when you
[01:22:54] I had
[01:22:56] like when you have the same teacher
[01:22:58] for years
[01:23:00] I had the same maths teacher
[01:23:02] 4 out of 5
[01:23:04] of my years at school
[01:23:06] and everyone thought the maths teacher I had
[01:23:08] was a really scary guy and I was like
[01:23:10] what are you talking about
[01:23:12] he's king of banter I love that man
[01:23:14] in fact if you're listening
[01:23:16] you're a legend
[01:23:18] I used to sit on the front row
[01:23:20] of maths and just talk to him
[01:23:22] and I remember
[01:23:24] this really sounds bad
[01:23:26] in a maths way
[01:23:28] I'm going to say that all again
[01:23:30] because it sounds a bit noncy
[01:23:32] I used to sit at the front of maths
[01:23:34] and
[01:23:36] one day he said to me
[01:23:38] because it had just been parents evening
[01:23:40] and he said to me your dad
[01:23:42] doesn't look old enough to have a daughter
[01:23:44] who's 50
[01:23:46] well he wasn't
[01:23:48] 16
[01:23:50] because my dad
[01:23:52] and my maths teacher were the same age
[01:23:54] and I said don't you have a son at uni
[01:23:56] he was like
[01:23:58] yeah good point
[01:24:02] like god he was young then
[01:24:04] wow
[01:24:14] he's a mole who's living underground
[01:24:16] and his name is rolly moe
[01:24:18] rolly rolly rolly rolly moe
[01:24:20] he's the rolliest moe you'll ever know
[01:24:22] and his name is rolly moe
[01:24:30] can we talk about
[01:24:32] the spin-off show
[01:24:34] yes the rolly moe show
[01:24:36] it's nicer to watch isn't it
[01:24:38] it's better
[01:24:40] I think their lovely little Walsh accent
[01:24:42] this is so kind
[01:24:44] yeah because it's him and his niece
[01:24:46] who's called little bow
[01:24:52] hello to you how do you do
[01:25:01] I wonder what's for tea today
[01:25:03] let's go and ask uncle rolly
[01:25:05] ready then off we go
[01:25:21] hello there and how are you today
[01:25:23] I'm just making something special for tea
[01:25:25] hello uncle rolly
[01:25:31] hello there little bow
[01:25:33] I was just telling our friends that I'm making something special for tea
[01:25:35] oh yes
[01:25:37] that's what I wanted to ask you uncle rolly
[01:25:39] oh what did you want to ask me little bow
[01:25:41] she's very cute
[01:25:43] and for some reason two little creatures
[01:25:45] called snoots and they're called
[01:25:47] you go and me go
[01:25:49] they live with rolly moe as well
[01:25:51] but I don't know what their relationship to him is
[01:25:53] they are very cute
[01:25:55] they're very cute
[01:25:57] yeah they're librarians in training
[01:25:59] they remind me a little bit
[01:26:01] like construction and movement wise
[01:26:03] of the ratis
[01:26:05] ratis ratis
[01:26:07] no they are yeah very much
[01:26:09] you go me go
[01:26:11] oh yes it is
[01:26:13] oh no it isn't
[01:26:23] oh yes it is
[01:26:25] oh yes it is
[01:26:27] yes it is
[01:26:29] no it isn't
[01:26:31] what was all that about
[01:26:33] I've got no idea
[01:26:35] it looks as though they're having a snoot
[01:26:37] argument
[01:26:39] oh dear
[01:26:41] I'll go and see if I can help shall I
[01:26:43] I think that would be a very good idea
[01:26:47] no it is as
[01:26:49] it is as
[01:26:51] excuse me
[01:26:53] I thought you might like to look in my busy
[01:26:55] book with me
[01:26:57] oh yes please
[01:26:59] I hope this works
[01:27:01] but yeah
[01:27:03] it was nice to watch rolly moe
[01:27:05] I was watching it on amazon prime
[01:27:07] and like this is it wasn't on youtube
[01:27:09] this problem didn't come up on youtube
[01:27:11] where it's like all of the amazon prime ones had this
[01:27:13] like weird slight haze
[01:27:15] like the room was smoky
[01:27:17] it was weird but rolly moe didn't
[01:27:19] yeah I don't really it was weird
[01:27:21] yeah I liked rolly moe
[01:27:23] for me there wasn't enough of him
[01:27:25] rolling
[01:27:27] yeah you can get some tracks
[01:27:29] I want to tell this isn't actually from the
[01:27:31] rolly moe show but it was one of his stories
[01:27:33] in the fin balls
[01:27:35] and I need to tell you before I forget
[01:27:37] it was the episode where
[01:27:39] about the surprises
[01:27:41] I don't know if it was called surprise I think
[01:27:43] but he was like I've got a story
[01:27:45] for you that's about a surprise
[01:27:47] and then what he told was
[01:27:49] little red riding hood right
[01:27:51] and I thought
[01:27:53] oh my god yeah that is a surprise isn't it
[01:27:55] but what he told was little red riding hood
[01:27:57] goes to her grandma's house
[01:27:59] in the woods
[01:28:01] and she sees
[01:28:03] the wolf on the way to her grandma's
[01:28:05] house and he's pranking
[01:28:07] the rabbits and he says oh I
[01:28:09] like pranking the rabbits in the forest
[01:28:11] and then when she gets to her
[01:28:13] grandma's house the wolf's in bed and she says
[01:28:15] oh grandmother what
[01:28:17] what big teeth you have
[01:28:19] all the better to see with
[01:28:21] oh what big teeth you have all the better to eat
[01:28:23] and
[01:28:25] yeah just all the better to eat
[01:28:27] and she's like
[01:28:29] you sound weird
[01:28:31] and then her grandma jumps out through the door
[01:28:33] and is like haha you got pranked
[01:28:35] and the wolf's like yeah all the better
[01:28:37] to eat one of those buns you've got
[01:28:39] in your basket and I was like what a cop out
[01:28:41] what a cop out
[01:28:43] honestly it is
[01:28:45] it's also a bit relieved that they weren't telling
[01:28:47] three year olds you're going to get
[01:28:49] eaten by a wolf we have to
[01:28:51] at some point watch her winked
[01:28:53] oh yeah yeah we do
[01:28:55] and half the way is it
[01:28:57] yeah it's a movie I watched from house of kip me and Sean
[01:28:59] were fucking obsessed with it
[01:29:01] and it's horrendous
[01:29:03] it's one of the most horrendous things
[01:29:05] to watch there it's a musical
[01:29:07] there is the big bad wolf
[01:29:09] but he's like a PI
[01:29:11] he's got glasses and he sits on a
[01:29:13] well when he's pretending to be the grandma
[01:29:15] who is a secret agent
[01:29:17] so yeah the big bad wolf is a PI
[01:29:19] and there's
[01:29:21] oh it's insane we have to watch it
[01:29:23] and it looks like it's got sort of similar animation
[01:29:25] to what are those like crazy horrible
[01:29:27] rabbit things that there was a video game
[01:29:29] about oh raving rabbit
[01:29:31] yeah it looks like similar
[01:29:33] vibes yeah it does actually
[01:29:35] bit very janky
[01:29:37] it's very janky but more folklore
[01:29:39] well maybe you'd like a story while
[01:29:41] you're thinking
[01:29:43] story story oh yes please
[01:29:45] right oh back in a rolly moe
[01:29:49] so a lot of people on instagram
[01:29:51] were saying that
[01:29:53] back in a rolly moe
[01:29:55] has entered their lexicon
[01:29:57] like my dad says it a lot back in a rolly moe
[01:29:59] or used to anyway
[01:30:01] and it brings
[01:30:03] me joy that a lot of people say back
[01:30:05] in a rolly moe even now because it's
[01:30:07] you know it's a very old show
[01:30:09] it's nice when people say that
[01:30:11] it's only 20
[01:30:13] 22 years old
[01:30:15] I also really
[01:30:17] younger than you yes I know it's younger than me
[01:30:19] I turned 26 a month ago
[01:30:21] I was looking forward
[01:30:23] to seeing more of him rolling around
[01:30:25] and there isn't enough of it
[01:30:27] honestly that's what I was expecting
[01:30:29] he doesn't that much it's a novelty to see him
[01:30:31] rolling I kept accidentally saying rolly moe
[01:30:33] like every time
[01:30:35] even though it's rolly moe but I was like
[01:30:37] I think it's rolly moe
[01:30:39] that makes sense right
[01:30:41] rolly polly scare me now
[01:30:43] yeah I don't want to break my neck
[01:30:45] yeah like
[01:30:47] because when you're a kid you're like my bones are stretchy
[01:30:49] it's fine but now
[01:30:51] I don't think I ever said that as a kid
[01:30:53] no I famously
[01:30:55] scratched up my elbow when I was 3
[01:30:57] but like I just used to
[01:30:59] rolly polly after rolly polly
[01:31:01] now I'm like absolutely fucking not
[01:31:03] I would shatter into pieces
[01:31:05] something that I think is really funny
[01:31:07] is that they call
[01:31:09] the hair on there the sort of weird
[01:31:11] top nut they call it a top nut
[01:31:13] yeah is that the wind in your top nut
[01:31:15] you can have such fun
[01:31:17] whizzing and zooming with the wind
[01:31:19] in your top nut but you just
[01:31:21] have to be a little bit careful
[01:31:23] is that the fimbles or the rolly
[01:31:25] the ones that in the intro go
[01:31:27] yeah some
[01:31:29] oh my god someone on instagram called it
[01:31:31] not the hair boner
[01:31:33] yeah I did think
[01:31:35] it was when
[01:31:37] they got the family
[01:31:39] feeling which either means horny or high
[01:31:41] they get like
[01:31:43] tingling their fingers and twitching their nose
[01:31:45] and it's cute to watch their little noses go
[01:31:47] but when the hair goes it's like
[01:31:49] I'm not the felt boner
[01:31:51] I legitimately
[01:31:53] thought that exact thing I'm glad I'm not alone
[01:31:55] because I was like why is any
[01:31:57] part of them moving
[01:31:59] it's just so funny that they have top
[01:32:01] nuts
[01:32:03] can you imagine if your hair like an animated
[01:32:05] or felt creature responded to your emotions
[01:32:07] yeah I wouldn't like it
[01:32:09] yours does
[01:32:11] you go to the hairdresser so you get it done
[01:32:13] I mean if imagine if you were scared
[01:32:15] if imagine if you were scared and your hair
[01:32:17] expanded like an anime characters
[01:32:21] oh I wonder where everyone is
[01:32:23] oh look
[01:32:25] there's Fimbo
[01:32:27] fast asleep
[01:32:29] what
[01:32:31] doesn't he look so sweet when he's asleep
[01:32:35] I do love him
[01:32:37] there's a episode
[01:32:39] where I don't know which
[01:32:41] episode it is but I remember that this happens
[01:32:43] in it Fimbo is asleep
[01:32:45] and Flory
[01:32:47] you know is walking around and finds him
[01:32:49] and she says it's sweet
[01:32:51] when he's asleep I do love him
[01:32:53] he's fucking quiet now
[01:32:55] no but isn't that so sweet
[01:32:57] apropos of nothing
[01:32:59] nothing to do with the plot she just goes
[01:33:01] I do love him isn't that so nice
[01:33:03] I like how a lot of the dialogue
[01:33:05] in it is just nothing to do with anything
[01:33:07] yeah yeah yeah
[01:33:09] they're just saying stuff and I actually really like that
[01:33:11] it's just us isn't it
[01:33:13] just a just chatting shit
[01:33:15] it's cute I like it
[01:33:17] one point I'm going
[01:33:19] donny chat
[01:33:23] I'm sorry
[01:33:25] I said that around other people
[01:33:27] because it's an oft repeated phrase in this house
[01:33:29] you got any chat
[01:33:31] and people are always looking at me really weirdly
[01:33:33] they're like what do you mean
[01:33:35] have you got any fucking
[01:33:37] shit to say
[01:33:39] anyway sorry Elsie I know you want to get this episode finished
[01:33:41] I don't know if I have anything else
[01:33:43] to say about the Fimbles
[01:33:45] we've stretched this one out
[01:33:47] we were worried we didn't have too much to say
[01:33:49] Meg got loads of stories to tell you all though
[01:33:51] Meg before
[01:33:53] when she came home was like we need to
[01:33:55] tangent the fuck out of this one
[01:33:57] I was like I think we've got about 40 minutes
[01:33:59] of good fimbles content
[01:34:01] and then we can tell some stories
[01:34:03] I think yeah I think that's it
[01:34:05] but clearly people really enjoy it
[01:34:07] and maybe your content
[01:34:09] with the fact that there's actually not that much interesting facts
[01:34:11] they did a live tour
[01:34:13] oh yes I wanted to talk about that
[01:34:15] Sarah Jane Honeywell
[01:34:17] was in that
[01:34:19] I tried to find footage of it because you can see
[01:34:21] the tweenies
[01:34:23] that was like recorded
[01:34:25] but I don't think this one was I mean it was 2006
[01:34:27] I think
[01:34:29] yeah I actually found it through archived BBC articles
[01:34:31] oh really
[01:34:33] yeah
[01:34:35] their studio well you wanted to surprise me
[01:34:37] with this information
[01:34:39] the studio where it's filmed was in Breconel Laura
[01:34:41] was it Breconel?
[01:34:43] when I looked up it said Breconel
[01:34:45] but I could be wrong about 15 minute drive from where I grew up
[01:34:47] so there's Laura's claim to fame
[01:34:49] the only interesting thing that's ever happened in Breconel
[01:34:51] Meg we are Laura's claim to fame
[01:34:53] she said to me earlier
[01:34:55] I actually
[01:34:57] don't remember you're going to have to remind me
[01:34:59] exactly why you were saying it
[01:35:01] oh because
[01:35:03] our hairdresser
[01:35:05] we all have the same hairdresser
[01:35:07] she was asking me how long we've known each other
[01:35:09] and I was commenting on how
[01:35:11] for almost all of the time
[01:35:13] me and Meg have known each other
[01:35:15] we all have the same hairdresser
[01:35:17] and we've lived together
[01:35:19] and you said
[01:35:21] it's good to know I can keep people
[01:35:23] yeah I can keep people around
[01:35:25] Laura was like
[01:35:27] Meg you're not getting rid of me
[01:35:29] I don't have any other friends
[01:35:31] because I was like all of my friends are your friends
[01:35:35] yeah it's true
[01:35:37] and now I'm the same
[01:35:39] my friends are also Laura's friends
[01:35:41] on that cheery note
[01:35:43] shall we go to the pub?
[01:35:45] yeah I actually think we should
[01:35:47] we need to get there quick we can't put all this shit away
