[00:00:00] You could count the punters on one hand

[00:00:08] But not sweet, they were completely wrapped

[00:00:12] They were filled up to the gunnold

[00:00:14] They were pewing down the street

[00:00:16] They said you should have been here last week

[00:00:19] I swear, you should have been here last week

[00:00:23] Oh yeah, you should have been here last week and have an expectation of entertainment and enjoying themselves on New Year's Eve, there's an extra pressure put on them because it's New Year's Eve. And everybody is doubly determined to really, really enjoy themselves. And there's more pressure I think put on the performers because of that.

[00:01:41] And the only thing you can say about any New Year's Eve gig

[00:01:46] and that any whole of the gig, people just like, they weren't listening, they weren't sort of, they were elsewhere, their, their attention was drawn towards the big bongs as it were, you know, who wouldn't be the big one that their attention diverted by big bongs,

[00:03:03] don't underestimate the big bongs. Yeah, what a disaster. I mean, again, I mean, we'll deal with this in other podcasts, but there's a whole different thing about corporate geeks. It's the same thing. What the deal is, the deal with the devil is, this is gonna be shit. Here's an extra wodge of money and the ask go, yes, I know full well, it's gonna be shit. I accept the bargain, nail me to the cross

[00:04:22] or whatever it is, takes you fancy, you know.

[00:04:25] You're prepared to sacrifice your career So I actually made the comedy store, but I was well past my particular slot and I missed going on. I missed, I didn't get paid. I missed the slot. Worst New Year's ever. I only compounded at the end. Yeah, by the fact that there were no trains back and I had to virtually walk all the way

[00:05:43] back to Lush.

[00:05:44] Oh God.

[00:05:45] That was a cracker that was.

[00:05:46] Well, yeah, its fried steaks. Place stunk like a cat-meet school dinners had that sort of smell in the place. Contacted me and said, look, in the evening, the owner says, in the evening, no one actually comes here. So we'd like to put something on. I'm a big comedy fan.

[00:07:04] Would you like to do some comedy here? It's almost in fact, this is the bit in the film where it's all everything set up to be fantastic. And then we cut to the next bit, which is obviously They did all the promotion. They did all the promotion and there was DJs. There was going to be also food served and there was free champagne cocktails.

[00:08:22] All of this, like what a fantastic night't want to win. It's a group booking. The coach party coming in. The other thing about this gig was the place was absolutely freezing. It's in a meat market which is cold in the first place and it was actually a really freezing night and they didn't turn the heating on. It was so cold in there.

[00:09:41] The audience has sat there shivering in their coats. The axe performed with their coats on.

[00:10:47] And as he worked, two people got up and walked out while he was on. So now we're down to six.

[00:10:50] Then Stan Stanley comes on and two people then leave after he's been on.

[00:10:55] Now we're down to four.

[00:10:57] Oh God.

[00:10:59] And Yasho was coming from another gig.

[00:11:03] She turned up.

[00:11:04] She saw only four people there.

[00:11:06]
