Podomedy original podcast Dexplorers has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 British Podcast Awards, earning nominations for both Best History Podcast and Best Kids Podcast.
The story-led series takes young listeners on adventures through the past, exploring subjects including Viking attacks, the Great Smog of 1952, Big Ben, the Great Plague and the mysteries beneath Roman London.
In the History category, Dexplorers is shortlisted alongside Assume Nothing: The Radiation Holiday, Back When, Dan Snow’s History Hit, Half-Life, Postwar with David Runciman, The House at Number 48 and Witness History. Its fellow Kids nominees include Audiomoves in Space, Errol’s Garden Audio Musical, Judge Bex, Koala Moon, Today with tonies and Yoto Daily.
The wider shortlist features some of the country’s most recognisable podcasting and entertainment names, including Alan Partridge, Mel and Sue, Louis Theroux, Bill Nighy, Katherine Ryan, Jamie Oliver, Peter Crouch and Dan Snow.
Damien St John, founder of Podomedy, said:
“Dexplorers was built on the belief that children should have screen-free access to history that feels vivid, funny and genuinely adventurous. To see our family-led series recognised in both Kids and History, alongside some of the biggest names and organisations in British podcasting, is huge! It shows what an ambitious independent production can achieve when it puts the audience front and centre of the listening experience. Me and my Dexplorers can't wait to get out there and make a second season.”
The British Podcast Awards are celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2026, marking a decade of recognising originality and excellence across independent podcasting, major broadcasters and publishing networks. The awards span 32 categories covering genres, formats, creators and production teams.
The winners will be announced at the British Podcast Awards ceremony on Thursday 1 October 2026 at indigo at The O2, London. General admission begins at 8pm, with the ceremony starting at 8.30pm and the official after-party following at 10pm.
