What are you using Facebook to log into things with? Whatsapp and like... You know when you download an app and then it's like, what do you use to log in? And if Facebook is an option I do just always click Facebook. Like chess.com I log in using Facebook, you know? That is an old sentence.
[00:00:29] Hello, I'm Will. And I'm Hugh. And this is Legitimate Likes, the podcast where we take a look at some of humanity's most popular fascinations. And we try to work out, are they really worthy of the hype? They may be likes, but are they Legitimate Likes? This week, we're drafting supergroups and we're all here. What the hell are you doing, Michael? What on earth is this? The lunatics have taken over the asylum. This cannot stay in. This is a nightmare. That is the producer. That is the producer who started this podcast by saying he'd be a silent producer. That's Michael.
[00:00:57] I'm Will, one of the two hot and funny co-hosts. And then we have another producer, Ornia, who said what you should do and remain silent until we bring her in. Hello, Onya. Hello. I've become a big fan of the Wolf and Owl podcast, which is Tom Davies and Ramesh Ranganathan. And they have a... Sorry. You've got both names wrong there. I did. But they have a silent producer. What's that like? All you hear from him, Michael, is like every... Maybe every three episodes, you hear him laugh or him be like, oh, I've just checked that or whatever.
[00:01:27] But like, that's kind of what we're meant to be doing. And we've really exceeded the brief. I know. I know. I know. I think the difficulty is we were a certain number of episodes in and Michael was doing this. And then Michael left to go on paternity leave. And Ornia came along. It sounds like he... I'm his child. And then, for some reason, Michael came back. Like, you're still a father, aren't you, Michael? Yeah. Shouldn't you be taking more time off, you know? Spend more time with the kids. Probably. Probably. Just think about it. Okay.
[00:01:56] So, this is the season finale as we limp to the end of... Or no, triumphantly cross finish. I have another season. Another season. Another season. But, Elmone, it's sort of the season finale. But if you want to hear more, next Sunday, the 8th of November, I can't guarantee that there are tickets available in Dublin. Is that selling very well? You can have a look and see if there's a last minute ticket for Dublin. It is going to be great. But in the meantime, in a grand tradition, we return to our much-loved draft format. So, in the past, we've drafted dinner party guests.
[00:02:26] We've drafted movie stars for a movie. We've drafted Halloween-themed things. We've drafted things from the animal kingdom. And now we turn to supergroups. Hugh, are you going to type the whole episode? I mean, if you keep saying, uh, he'll keep typing. Why am I saying, uh, too much? Did you mean, am I going to type for the entirety of the episode, or am I actually going to transcribe the whole episode? Because that would be amazing. Do you want me to do that again?
[00:02:55] Did I say, did I say it? No, no, no, you're grand. I couldn't hear it over the typing anyway, so. Fucking hell, it's like trying to give a news update, like when Marine One is like circling overhead. It's exactly like that. Yeah. So, are we ready to draft our supergroups in the grand tradition of the traveling Wilburys, the highwaymen? Couldn't think of any other supergroups. Can anyone name a single other supergroup? The one, uh, wasn't, uh...
[00:03:24] You like to think Live Aid is a... No, no, well, I mean, yeah, I guess they do. Who sang a band on the run? Paul McCartney? Wings? Wings were kind of a supergroup, weren't they? Or were they just another band with Paul McCartney? Other bands. Yeah, okay, maybe. At what point does a band become a supergroup, you know? Mm, yeah. So, in order to decide the order in which we draft, I'm going to get you to give me the name of the first album you ever bought, and then we'll go in order of the years they came out in. Oh, wow. Michael, do you want to give me what your first one was?
[00:03:51] Yeah, so the first album I ever bought, this is so cool, guys, was the soundtrack to the movie A Knight's Tale, the Heath Ledger vehicle. That's pretty cool! That was a great movie. Yeah, and I specifically bought it for one song, which was Low Rider by War. And yeah, absolute tune. That came out in 2001. Okay. Hugh? God, I've no idea. I just let my brother buy all the albums. He had better taste than me and...
[00:04:20] Do you mean the younger brother or the older brother? No, the older brother. The older brother. I might have bought Franz Ferdinand. The self-titled album would take me out and dark of the matinee on it. I mean, David probably bought it, but I might have bought it. So let's pretend I bought it. Okay, what year do we think that was? About 2004. 2004? Bang on! Okay, and Will? I think the first one I remember wanting and getting was the cassette tape of the Spice Girls Live. Nice.
[00:04:51] Okay, earlier? Spice Girls Live album. Is that 1988, I think? 1998. Oh! 1988, sorry. 1988 would be crazy. So, actually, you've just reminded me. The first album I remember having was a bootleg version of the Spice Girls album, Spice. But the first album I bought with my own money was All That You Can't Leave Behind. Oh! That's amazing. Which one are we going for? Well, have you bought it? Yeah, yeah, definitely the one you bought. Okay. Well, I definitely didn't buy this one.
[00:05:19] I definitely was bought it, because I can't remember the first one I bought myself. So... We're struggling to answer this question. So Will's first. Will is first. So Will, you're going to draft first? 1988? Oh yeah, this is great. I should have really thought this through and just said the earliest album possible. And then it's me. I bought Bach's Goldberg Variations. The original pressing. Yeah.
[00:05:42] Michael coming in hot at 2001, and then Hugh, Eons, behind the rest of us in 2004. And is it a snake draft though? I don't know how that works, so no. Wow. Oh, do we want to do that? It means it goes... Oh yeah, I forgot that. We go down and we go back. 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 1. Yeah. Okay, fair enough. You can help me. No, I like Anya's method that lacks fairness. No, no, no. Okay, we'll snake it. We'll snake it up. The criteria for our super group, I'm going to give you this, there's five categories,
[00:06:12] and you don't have to necessarily assemble like a bassist, because then, I mean, there's going to be a lot of tedious, you know, agonizing about bassists. Shots fired on bassists. You know, and arguing about lead guitar. Okay, so... Adam Clayton would like a word. Who? I'm joking. Is he the one that you really fancy, Hugh? Adam Clayton? Yeah. No. Is he not you that's also going, so ripped? Oh my God. No. I've never said that.
[00:06:41] Michael's definitely got a thing for Larry Mullins. Are you thinking of Michael? Is it? Oh, maybe that's him thinking of. But he's the drummer. No, I've never expressed anything. You have, Michael. You saw shirtless pictures of him, and you just... I don't think that's true. And I also call him Larry Mullins. I think his name is Larry Mullin. There's only one of them. It is. Will, okay, you're up first. So your first pick has to be someone born after 1990. Hmm. So I was thinking, I don't know if he's been in the news recently. I think Ed Sheeran's a good pick for this.
[00:07:11] I think that'd be a good shout. I think he's pretty uncontroversial. Pretty fun figure. But he was 991. That feels too close to me. So instead I've gone with Chapel Rhone. Oh, very good. You big fan? Big fan. I think she did what Lily Allen attempted to do in a full album. Chapel Rhone did it in one song, in casual. Her songs are unbelievable. She uses silence very effectively within her music. You can observe that when you listen to the songs,
[00:07:40] and she'll cut out for like a beat and then come back in. Oh, it's electric. You can all go and see it. You can love it. The live shows, the spectacle, come on now. Okay. Well, I think that's a great pick. Well, also, one of the things that was pointed out to me about Chapel Rhone is that she instantly achieved sort of multi-generational hit status. Like, Hot To Go is a song that is sung at kids' birthday parties, there's a banger in the car, in the nightclub. It really shouldn't be sung at kids' birthday parties. It shouldn't be, but it is. It is.
[00:08:10] Especially if then you accidentally go on to casual after that at the kids' party. I think that might have been huge. Remember I was showing you Chapel Rhone when we were in France, and I was like, the kids in school would be loving this. And then a B-side came on, and it was like three minutes of unremitting smut. And I was like, never mind. Never mind. Knee deep in the passenger's seat, and you're eating me out. Is it casual now? Uh, uh-oh. Happy birthday, Eliza. Okay, so we move snake-like to me.
[00:08:40] So I thought it was quite tricky to pick somebody from after 1990, for obvious reasons, because I have just erased... Oh, Ed Sheeran's available still, if that helps. So yeah, he came up that was... Because a lot of people I was thinking of are actually kind of late 80s people. But I have somebody who I think was born in 1992, who started out as a kids' TV entertainer, and I think is now a bonafide superstar. Oh, you've taken a great pick, I think. And Miley Cyrus. I think she's got unbelievable... Oh, yeah. As time goes on, I think she only gets more incredible. Oh, yeah.
[00:09:08] I was hoping she'd still be there at four, not gonna lie. Sorry. I think she's got, like, real sticking power, and the more life experience she's had, the better her music has gotten. I think she sings with, like, real soul in a way now. Yeah. And she's reinvented herself, like, a million times, you know? I think she's amazing. So I'm going for... And she was in an episode of Black Mirror, and she was fucking unbelievable. Was she? Which one? Uh, the one that Miley Cyrus is in, I think. I can't remember, it's about some superstar person. She plays sort of a pop star, but she's so good.
[00:09:38] She's a great actor. And she seems really lovely. I've no basis for that. And she was naked on that wrecking ball. Remember that? Remember that, Michael? He must have loved that. Dolly's goddaughter. Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter. Actual daughter, yeah. Hemsworth's ex-wife, I think. What? Which Hemsworth? Who knows? Yeah, it's not Chris. Chris? Chris, yeah, Chris Hemsworth. Was it? Isn't it? No. Because then Flowers is all about him. Yeah. She released Flowers on Chris Hemsworth's birthday. No, it's Liam. Must be Liam, isn't it? But do you remember, they were videoed at a red carpet and he was like, can you ever
[00:10:08] just behave yourself? He was getting really annoyed. She was kind of all razzed up and licking his face and stuff. Yeah. Really? I think she's calmed down a bit since then. What did he think he was getting though? You know what I mean? Like, I mean... But he probably liked how exciting she was at the start and then didn't actually want that. Do you know what I mean? She's a superstar. You don't let her cook. It was Liam. So you wash your mouth out about Chris Hemsworth, okay? Do you love... It was Liam. I couldn't tell you who or what either of those two do or are. Is one of them Thor? What's that TV show that was amazing for the first season?
[00:10:38] Westworld. Liam's in that. Who's he in that? Can't remember. I think he played Chris Hemsworth in that. Chris Hemsworth was in Ghostbusters, wasn't he? Yes. And Thor. He's Thor. But they're very alike. They are. And actually, I think that Liam Hemsworth was like... went in for the role of Thor and got to like the last three and they were like, you know what? We like you, but you need to be a little bit... I don't know if it was Chris older or younger. He was like, you need to be a little bit older.
[00:11:08] We're thinking of older. And he was like, well, I do have a brother. And that's how they got Chris. Crazy. Fun, right? Michael, who are you picking after 1990? So, I'm going to 1994. Okay. And I'm picking someone who I think has all the hallmarks of a genuine music icon in the making. We're all witnessing it. I'm picking Harry Styles. Oh, come on! Yeah, he was my other one. Oh, this is... Going forth is tough. I think he's got it all. I think, you know, he's a musician.
[00:11:37] He's got sort of a magnetic personality. He's got a movie career that seems to be going from strength to strength, to some weakness to back to strength. But yeah, I don't really know anything about him. It seems like a nice guy. Do you think he's a good singer? I think he is. I think he's got some great songs as well. So, yeah. I love that you think he's sort of on the up and not a global superstar. No, but I think by the end of his career... I think by the end of his career, he could genuinely achieve, you know, huge icon stats.
[00:12:06] I mean, Michael, two years ago, he was the biggest star in the world. Maybe four. I know. I know. But there are many people who, in their late 20s, early 30s, are the biggest star in the world. Obviously not many people. There aren't really. I think he could have like a 50 year career and be the next David Bowie kind of thing. Like, I really think that's what we might be dealing with here. Also, he's the starting point in the overall package that I'm bringing together. I want a lot of energy in this thing. I think he's got a lot of presence. He's got a lot of profile.
[00:12:36] And this is sort of the first pawn on the chess board, if you will. Hugh, who are you going for? You've had a lot of big picks taken off the board there. He's got to go for Taylor Swift. Surely that's his next step. Is she born after 1990? No, I think she's 89. No. I think she's 89. She's won in 89, famously. I'd have thought about Taylor. All right. And obviously as a teacher of girls, you know, Taylor's a big part of my life. I have to admit, I did think I'd get one of Miley Cyrus or Harry Styles. I think I'm going to go.
[00:13:05] I don't know if this is if this is left field. I'm going to go do a leap. I've danced to some of her songs before. Choreographed dances as part of my staff dance class. Yeah. I've seen that dance. I think she's. Yeah. Can you sing one of her songs? I mean, there was that one. I used to do a shoulder dance to then there was dance the night away or whatever it was called. Um, what else did she have? One, one kiss.
[00:13:34] That was the one I did the shoulder dance to. How was that girl? One kiss is all it takes. Falling in love with me. Yeah. Listen, she's 1995. I think she's got a, it's got a bit of stars. It's got a bit of pizzazz. You know, I think she could be out in front of the super group. And although let's be honest, I mean, I'm pretty sure we're going to be picking a lot of front people for, uh, for our super groups. But I think Dua Lipa will fit right in. Yeah. Do you know what? I would love to see the four we've just chosen together on stage. That would be sick. That, that feels like it probably has happened.
[00:14:03] Well, Dua Lipa and Harry Starrs have definitely done stuff together. Chapel Rhone doesn't like anyone. So maybe less likely. Even more exciting. She's more mysterious. That's great. And also Dua Lipa. I'm pretty sure she's Kosovo, isn't she? So like, you know, standing up against the Serbs. Well, that's the main thing. She's Kosovo, is she? Well, I think she's English, but I think her parents are from Kosovo. I think so. Yep. Well, a lot of the rhetoric at the moment would disagree as to whether or not she's English. And whether she's from Kosovo, to be honest.
[00:14:33] Yeah, yeah. It's all up for grabs. Hugh, am I right in thinking with snake draft, you go, you get a doubler now. Oh, I guess so. So we move to your before 1960 pick. I mean, I feel a lot of people will think they know where I'm going to go with this. Yeah. Can I say what I think you're going to do? I think you're going to know where I'm going to go with this. I think you're going to be right on this. Okay. Who do you think I'm going to pick? Paul McCartney? No. What? I think you're going to pick the person I want.
[00:15:03] I'm going to pick David Bowie. Thank Christ for that. Crazy, crazy choice. No. Paul... Oh, but Dua Lipa, probably amazing. Amazing choice. I think Bowie will be great. Again, something different, something unusual, like absolutely unique. Paul McCartney is, for my mind, yeah, he's number one. But you know what? Paul doesn't need a super group. He's... I don't think David Bowie needs a bit of a dig out. Give him a bit of a start. Well, maybe not. Give him a run out with Dua Lipa. But listen, Bowie... Michael actually texted me the other day saying, have you heard of this up and coming called David Bowie?
[00:15:33] Yeah. So yeah, Bowie, I think... What do you need to say? I mean, unbelievable. Loads of reinventions. Just very cool music. Cool voice. Crazy style. Can you do his precious voice there? Save it, Bowie. It's a god awful small affair. To the girl with the mousy hair. And her mummy is yelling no. But her daddy has told her to go. Yeah? It's pretty good. Yeah. Pretty good.
[00:16:03] It's a pretty good David Bowie. The only Bowie I can do is the flight of the Concord. This is Bowie back to Bowie. Hear you loud and clear man. Ooh yeah man! Also, he plays well with... He's duetted with Queen, with Bing Crosby. Like he works well with other big acts. So it's a good pick. Yeah, from a HR perspective it passes muster. Yeah, it does. Yeah. I thought you went to Bing Crosby, Michael. Yeah, Bing. Yeah, well if he's gonna be at the 1940s Clambake,
[00:16:33] well I feel he's gonna fit right in. Michael, you're before 1960 pick. Yeah, okay. So, I'm gonna take you back to, as you say, before 1960. I'm gonna take you to September 5th. Please, buy me a drink first! I'm gonna take you back to September 5th, 1946. Oh, you piece of shit. And we're going to Stonetown in Zanzibar. Oh! The birthplace of Farouk Balsara, otherwise known as Freddie Mercury. Oh!
[00:17:03] I'm amazed guys, I'm amazed that he's... I retract the piece of shit actually. Alright, I'm amazed that he's still available. I still think you're a piece of shit, but not for this reason. I think you're a piece of shit for starting the episode the way you did. Oh, there was only one pick where he could have been taken before. I know, I'm amazed he wasn't taken. I just think he's absolutely incredible. He's not a big Queen fan as you, I don't think. It's true. I don't think you need to be a Queen fan to acknowledge that Freddie Mercury is the greatest thing. I have said it before on this very podcast. Yeah? I don't care for Queen that much. Oh, okay. Crazy. I don't.
[00:17:33] And Michael, we agree on so much music stuff. I just, I think it's all a bit silly, okay? I think it's how a lot of people think. I think they're like what a lot of people think the Beatles are. It's not big, it's not funny. It's a bit silly. The Beatles have songs about Octopus's Garden. Octopus's Garden is such a beautiful, pure song. And like, I think it's one of my favourite Beatles songs. We would sing and dance around. But it's also really silly. You can't bring silliness as an accusation to Queen and then not level it at the Beatles too.
[00:18:02] Queen or all, it's all silly like, you know, ooh, look at that big bum. Is that your version of Fat Bottom Girls? Of Fat Bottom Girls. Look at that big bum. Can you sing a bit of that for us, aren't you? Ooh, what a queen like. What a queen like. Don't think about it too much, just roll with it. Ooh, look at that big bum! Ooh! That big bum is so fun!
[00:18:32] Ooh! That's all it is! Okay. Do you know what's funny? That sounded a bit like a Beatles song. I thought that as I was singing it, I was doing a bit of Hard Day's Night in the background. Like... Okay. Can we hear Bohemian Rhapsody? I hate that song! I hate it! It's... Can we hear it? Can you hear what? In the Beatles? Can you sing a bit of it for us? As the Beatles? No, no, just sing a bit of it. I don't know. I love how you're like, no, but I can perform it as the Beatles would have performed it.
[00:19:03] Would you like me to perform it as the greatest band in the world performing a song by one of the other greatest bands in the world? Bohemian Rhapsody, oh, the devil and there's a guy getting upset. It's just, I don't like it. It's too long and people sing it too much and it's not funny and people think it makes them... It's not funny! People think it's such a personality trait to sing it. It's not even funny!
[00:19:34] Can you imagine Freddie Mercury writing being Rhapsody being like, this needs to be funnier. What's a funnier name? Scaramouge is a funny name. Freddie's listening back to a Webley performance being like, oh, they missed every single laugh line. Like... Do you like it? I do like it, yeah. Do you not think that a lot of saps use it as a substitute for a personality? Oh, sure. I think it's a novelty song. It is a good novelty song. But again, I mean, it's like Anya.
[00:20:01] I mean, I think people do terrible things to Hey Jude, but if you actually go back to Hey Jude, it's a great song. Hey Jude is a stunning, stunning song. But even I can accept Hey Jude has been, we've had to let that go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not ours. Let it out and let it in. You're missing the... I'm not saying I'm picking Queen here. I think Queen of Great. This is Michael's pick. Sorry, Michael. I'm picking Apex frontman. The greatest frontman ever, Freddie Mercury. I think that's actually way beyond dispute. You would think that? Of course you would think that? I think I'm right though.
[00:20:30] I think I'm very right. And also, I don't just mean the best frontman in terms of singers. Like this guy would dominate any stage. Like you could have literally any person from history up there and my eyes are only going to be on Freddie Mercury and all the audience too. Right? You could have like Julius Caesar and Genghis Khan have come back from the dead and are duetting. They're doing Ain't No Mattern High enough for whatever. Violent in the stream. Great, great, great concert. But I'm still just watching Freddie Mercury.
[00:20:58] You could have like a white dwarf star going supernova and the audience is like, yeah, yeah, yeah, but Freddie's playing. What about, Michael, if you had a white dwarf? That would be it. What about Hitler? Famously I think Freddie did at that club in Ibiza or wherever. Yeah, that's true. That's true. What about Hitler? It's going full circle. If Hitler was on stage versus Freddie Mercury. Yeah. Not versus. If Hitler was clicking during Radio Gaga. They're doing Islands in the stream.
[00:21:25] Ornje, can we hear what Hitler would sound like if he was singing Islands in the stream? The island in the stream. And we're going to go on. That's what we are. Yes. I think we have a new podcast. That's the best. That. I don't remember. What's the next line? Line? Nope. No one in between. No one in between.
[00:21:56] Neither personen in the middle. How can we be nix correcting? I didn't. Um. Uh. My. My next question was going to be can we hear Hitler singing Hey Jude? But I think that. Hello Jude! I don't think he was that polite to them on you. Oh God. Oh God. Oh no. Oh no.
[00:22:26] Well. Anyway. Okay. So. Uh. Oh. We snake. We snake to me. I am going for. Hugh. I think you'll get something going for. George Harrison. No. Stevie Nicks. Oh yeah. Yeah. Oh great show. I think Stevie Nicks and Molly Cyrus will first of all sound amazing together. And I actually must go back and check have they done a duet because Stevie Nicks has done a good few duets with younger stars a bit like Jotty Parton. Stevie Nicks is just an incredible voice and has been through so many iterations like the
[00:22:56] early Fleetwood Mac days and then like solo artists and she's still performing and she's she just our voice seems to get more and more amazing. Hugh I know you don't know who she is and you thought. It was a man. I'm. I'm. I don't see gender so. Okay. But Michael you get this. Yeah. Stevie Nicks is amazing. Yeah. Now that I know. Who she is. Not necessarily want to hold a band together though. Let's just be clear on that. I mean. You think an actor. Cause she's a woman. A destructive force. Well I just as a group they they kind of I was going to say imploded but actually
[00:23:25] kind of exploded so I just it could it could you know. I mean most groups did Michael. Yeah. People. And arguably it was the reason for their best music was all the. True. True. The. The how's your father in behind the. And did they all ask each other how their father was at various times. Oh. Like in various permutations. There are a lot of inquiries as to people's fathers. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of complex. Um. Why does that mean sex. Does it mean that. Because it's quite horrible.
[00:23:55] I sure it doesn't mean doesn't mean that or have I invented how's your father. No it does. How's your father. That typing is very distracting. How's your father is a polite euphemism yet for sexual intercourse. But why because it's. Oh. It's not something I've ever asked you. Started in 1915 as a catchphrase by English musical comedian Harry Tate when he forgot his lines or felt stuck in a sketch he'd casually throw out a how's your father change
[00:24:21] the subject and then British servicemen in World War one picked up the expression and popularized it shifting its meaning into a ribald innuendo ribald. Oh this is great because you actually do an impression of this act don't you. You do an impression of this guy in his early routines. Oh come on. Come on. I just did a hit losing islands in the stream. Come on. Are you not entertained. Do this impression as if it was the Beatles doing this guy's act. Well that is what the Beatles are like kind of a.
[00:24:52] I can't you know I can't. Now hang on. So you said Queen are just silly and the Beatles are like 1915 comedians. No but the early Beatles do have a certain. They do. A certain musical. They do. Musical quality. I was gonna say dancehall quality but that's a different thing that's more like Sean Paul so. Hugh doesn't know what that is. So we'll move on. Dude you'll like this about Sean Paul at the start of his songs he says Shander Paul but he's actually saying Chandler Paul. Chandler Paul I think.
[00:25:22] Because his friends say that Chandler Paul is a cricketer. Chandler Paul yeah. Shiven around Chandler Paul. Chandler Paul. Did you say Chandler Paul? No wait it's not Chandler Paul. I've been calling him Chandler this whole time. Shiven around Chandler Paul and I thought it was. An orthodox West Indian cricketer. Great player. What's an orthodox mean? He has a very unusual batting style. Is that a youth as a brigade? How is his father I suppose is what I would say. Yeah. Will who's here before 1960 pick? I'm so excited.
[00:25:50] I was terrified when Michael said 1946. The thing I wanted to go for was Ed Sheeran but unfortunately he was born in 1991. I could have gone for born in 1954 and art curator, lecturer, an exhibition organiser, guy of Irish descent, John Sheeran who is Ed Sheeran's father. He could have been in it because we just want one of the Sheeran family in there. But instead I've gone for Dolly Parton. Oh. Great show. Great show. Unbelievable. You've got a lovely little line up now as it stands. Oh man. Chappell and Dolly. Did they ever do anything together?
[00:26:20] I feel they would have. Feels like they would have had a great time. Well, Serena Carpenter did with Donny Parton. So yeah, I feel again that that's totally possible. She wrote, I will always love you and Jolene in the same sort of writing session. That's crazy. It's a bit like me doing Hitler singing islands in the stream and a Queen impression as the Beatles, you know, and when that, when, when the muse lands upon you, we are powerless. In 20 years when you're sending books all across Ireland to every child in Ireland, they'll be like, where did it all start? Well. It was when she did that. Islands in the stream.
[00:26:51] I'm going to look what that is afterwards. Okay. Dolly Parton is an amazing pick, Will. And playing it remarkably straight. Oh, also she, she played around 20 instruments. Right. I found, I found a load of instruments that she played, but on the list is like banjo, auto harp, fiddle, piano. One of the instruments listed was the acrylic fingernails. Yes. Yes. She used to tap them. In, in nine to five, in the movie nine to five. So that song was written for the movie nine to five.
[00:27:18] And she came in one day and she was like, girls, I've got a song. And she started off for the bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump. Yep. So absolutely. And it was listed in the score for the movie as like piano and nails or whatever. Amazing. Amazing. So imagine on you if someone had interrupted Dolly Parton then and said, stop tapping, stop that, stop that noise. I'm distracted. Yeah. Will, you're getting the doubler now.
[00:27:48] I'm going to get out your Irish pick and Irish artists alive or dead. Oh, I'm fourth on this. I'm never going to get my pick. So Ed Sheeran or Hosier. Oh, okay. Sweet, sweet, lovely Hosier. Sweet, lovely Hosier. Great. I'll take, I'll take Hosier. That'll be nice. I like him. I don't know any of the songs other than the two obvious ones. There's that one where you get taken to church and the videos about two, two guys who get discriminated against for being gay. He's like, take me to church. You know it. You can sing it as Hitler. What's the other song?
[00:28:18] Oh, you're too sweet for me. Jackie and Wilson, playing around with the blues. That one. And then there's a couple of others. Okay. How's your, I think that's a very good pick. Yeah. Poor Glenn. Not allowed to pick Glenn. Here, are you worried that I'm going to pick your pick? I am, but listen, that's, that's the, that's the game you play. Who do you think I'm going to pick? I'm not going to say it because if you don't, Michael might. I'm going to go for Phil Linnett. Well, I mean, he's, he's on my short list. All right. But he wasn't my number one.
[00:28:47] He, he, he was the one I was going to pick when you picked my one, but don't worry. Michael's going to pick my one. So I think Phil Linnett, I don't think, I think he is so underrated. I don't understand. I don't understand how, I guess there is a statue to him on Grafton's page. So, but I think he is so cool. His voice is so unique. The, the Thin Lizzy stuff is amazing. The solo stuff is amazing. His whole vibe is so cool. Such a tragic story as well.
[00:29:15] Like the lore runs deep, you know? And I just think an amazing talent. I think it's so sad. Like his, he died so young. Was he in his thirties when he died? I thought he was only 29 or something like that, but I'm not sure. Was he that young? But you know, like people then, everybody looked 60 or 47. Okay. He was 36. But I mean, I think that is such, because what year was he born? He was born in 1949. Like it's entirely possible. There's a world where he is still, a lot of Paul McCartney still performing and stuff.
[00:29:45] And I think that's a real, a real tragedy. I think he's, I think he's very cool. And I think the blend of him with Stevie Nicks and my Cyrus, I think that's a very soulful blend of people. It works. It works. It works. Okay. Michael, your Irish pick. So I got a lot of energy in my first two picks with between Harry Styles and Freddie Mercury. This is going to be something horrific. What is it? So like, we're not lacking for impact for punch, you know? Yeah. What I think we need is a sort of, we need earworms.
[00:30:14] You know, we need songs and sounds that will stay with people that will play in their heads. We'll play in their cars. We'll play most specifically in any spas that they might visit. Oh, I know what this is. Okay. So we're picking Enya. It's Enya. Yeah. Okay. Absolutely. This is such a strange group. It's a great group. It's a great group. Also, I don't know about Enya performing live, Michael, because a lot of that is like manipulated, layering and stuff. I mean, she's amazing. Incredible. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:30:44] No, absolutely not. What's your favourite Enya song? Uh, Our Knuckle Flow maybe? Oh no, it's gotta be Caribbean Blue. What? No, no, no. No, no. No, it's great. They're all good. That's the thing. Like you can't, you know, I'm not gonna fight you for it. Yeah. Some great stuff. And some of the, the, the, the, was she on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack? She was. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So. But in dreams. Beautiful. How excited would you be if you heard that Enya was doing a collab with Harry Styles and
[00:31:14] I mean, I think that would be unbelievable given that she doesn't even leave her big castle. I'm sorry, you're not worried about Freddie Mercury at all. Like he's, he's fine. He's spoken for. I think you'd be more likely to see Freddie Mercury join a super group than Enya. That's true. Yeah. Oh, Enya's amazing. Will, has Enya, has word of Enya traveled to the UK? Like I feel that, I feel she, is she a. Oh yeah, but she's definitely not as big a name. I was like, oh, she's Irish. She was on, she was on my backup list after all the other wrong ones that I had at the top.
[00:31:43] I think she's massive in the US. In the US. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So you got Julie, but David, I had David Baddiel there, sorry, David Bowie. And then we moved to your Irish pick. Who are we going for? I would have loved Phil in it. I'd also going to just give a little shout out to Rory Gallagher if we wanted. Oh yeah. For pure guitar, but I don't think I'm going to pick him. Rory Gallagher, famously, Jimi Hendrix was asked, what's it like to be the best guitarist in the world? And he said, I don't know.
[00:32:13] Ask Rory Gallagher. I mean, that's pretty cool. Wow. Is that not like. Why did Rory Gallagher know a guy? Yeah. He'll help you find him. You're running a guitar shop. Like, isn't that the best thing? Like, amazing. If somebody asked like James Acaster what it's like to be the greatest podcaster in the world or something, he's like, don't know. Better ask Kiko Conner. Exactly. Dolores A. Reardon. Oh. Great pick. Great pick. And I thought she'd be gone. Great pick. I didn't think she'd last this long. Great pick. You have a spooky little life. I do. All right. Yeah. Creepy little. Creepy.
[00:32:42] They wouldn't have to change their look at all to perform at Halloween, I feel. You know? I don't know. It really works. So am I right thinking with the snake draft that we stay with you? It does stay with me. Okay. So you get the first pick on your British pick. I suppose I've got another chance to pick Paul McCartney, don't I? Yeah. So who have I got? I've got Dua Lipa. David Bowie. David Bowie. Dolores A. Reardon. And Dolores A. Reardon.
[00:33:11] You sound like sort of a horrible casting agent or something. Yeah. Who have I got? Who have I got on the slate? Oh my God. Yeah. Yeah. Do you know what? Do you know what? I think it's a sign that we've had all our picks. It's come back to me in the last round. Paul is still available. I think he's up there with any musician and composer in history. Unbelievable. One of the all time greats. Absolutely. Absolutely.
[00:33:36] And yeah, I think he's going to bring like quite a, quite a, I was going to say quite a, quite a calm grandfatherly style to this, but of course, sure. Two of the others are dead. Yeah. He's just unbelievable. And I think he probably, I won't go on too long about this, but I think his, like he could sing opera. He has some very silly songs as well. His frog chorus, for example, he could compose his, his, his greatest songs.
[00:34:03] I think tend to be under two minutes long, but it's just incredible poetry and music and everything. He's the greatest. So yeah, let's stick Paul in there. Do you think I said this the other day? Do you think it is unbelievable that we were alive at the same time as him? I know. I mean, I saw him live two years ago and I'm like, actually, if it comes up again, I'm definitely going again. Like anywhere in Europe. I can, I'm annoyed at myself. I'm like, how could I be alive at the same time as two Beatles and not make that like
[00:34:32] a top five priority? Do you know what I mean? Absolutely. I know. And he looks fantastic. He looks great. He looks like a lovely old woman. He's a beauty. And he has, I think his voice, I've said this before on this podcast, he has the most angelic, like beautiful voice. That's beautiful. Yeah. If you go back and listen to I will or for no one or ones like that, just beautiful. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Michael, you're a British pick. So. Oh, this is going to be, well, this could be anything.
[00:34:59] I got, I got, you know, a lot, a lot of, as I said, a lot of energy, a lot of hotheads in my band. I don't know if, uh, Freddie and Harry and any are all going to gel well together, but I do know a guy who's good at keeping bands together and every super group needs a Beatle. So I'm picking Ringo. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, there's a panic from Anya there. Look, we get it. We get it. We get a drummer out of it, but, uh, yeah, I mean, he's seen it all.
[00:35:28] He's seen it all. You know, he'd not great crack at a venue. I think, cause I think I need to be a bit serious and he'd be like, why are you sitting up in your castle? Come down here. Yeah. Peace and love, Anya. Come on. He's a, he's also a phenomenal drummer. Let's be honest. He's unbelievable. Yeah. He's a beautiful singer as well. I'm so sick of this. Like the, I, like, I think I feel like the Ringo of this podcast and you know, sometimes
[00:35:53] you're just like, well, you know, I might not be the best or the smartest or the best But you watch him and get back and he's just, he's, he's wonderful. And he did just fine with the ladies. Don't you worry. He sure did. Just fine. It's funny though, because I was in a charity shop recently and I was looking through the records, but then they had another box near the till, but it was like special, like vintage.
[00:36:22] It sounds like the start of Jumanji. Vented records. And there was an Elton John. Don't touch that, sir. There was a Ringo one, like a Ringo record. Yeah. I was like, oh, that's cool. And I was like, well, it's 60 euro in a charity shop. I'm like, I'm grand actually. You know, I think I'm okay. Yeah. I think I caused a minor stir in our WhatsApp group about six months ago when I said that with a little help from my friends, the best Beatles song. And I, but I really do believe it. I think it's incredible. I think he's great in it. I mean, it's not the best Beatles song, but yeah, sure.
[00:36:52] He does a lovely job singing it. I genuinely don't know if Michael knows the difference between my favorite and best. I know what you mean. I think sometimes the simple Beatles stuff is great. Yeah. I overlook it myself in, you know, but yeah, that's a great pick. Okay. And crucially, not what Onya wanted to pick. So that's what makes an even better pick. We come to me. Hey, can you guess? Do you think it's John Lennon? Of course it's not. He's so terrible.
[00:37:21] Like I, I just don't get the John hype at all. And I know even Paul McCartney goes nuts for him. And I just don't, I just don't like that. I think even in death, John is putting Paul down. Is that, is that, is that a ridiculous take? Can you talk more about that? I think, I think, I think John, John Lennon definitely thought he was the best Beatle. I think Paul McCartney thinks that too. And I don't think that's true. I think Paul's stuff is better. But anyway, I'm not picking John Lennon. I'm picking George Harrison.
[00:37:50] I, he's, he's my favorite Beatle. I think his, his, his, but apart from the Beatle stuff, I actually think his solo stuff is just amazing. Like some of my top 10 favorite songs are probably George Harrison songs. And I, again, think it's like a tragedy that we've been deprived of. Like if he had lived as long as Paul, we probably would have had like decades of unbelievable music. And I like his, I like the him and Paul. I think they had a great appreciation of the natural world, especially Paul.
[00:38:17] And then with, with George of the, the spiritual world as well. And I think that makes the music so different and unique as well. And you've, he's always been your favorite. And while, on your, while I'm afraid you are the Ringo of the podcast, which is no bad thing. You want to be the George. I'm not the George. I was not quite enough to be George. George is more reflective and stuff. But I mean, I, I, you know, uh, Ringo, Ringo loved George as well. And George helped Ringo to write. Okay. Lovely little bit and get back. When you see that when Ringo comes in, he's like, I've got a song.
[00:38:47] I've been working on a song. And George is like, Oh yeah, just yeah. And he starts playing it. And George is like, if you go down there, if you go down from, from, from, from a to G to F. And Ringo's, it's just lovely. Yeah. And he was so young. Yeah. George Harrison. Like he got sent home from Hamburg because he was 16, you know? And yeah, I think he gets overlooked. Cause I think the, the Paul and John thing dominates a lot of Beatles. They were so in love with each other as well. You know, like that was a big thing.
[00:39:15] He was always the third wheel a bit, even though he's, I think you've got a soft spot for George. He's amazing. Absolutely amazing. Also maybe the best post Beatles career. Maybe. Probably Paul. Some amazing stuff, but yeah. Anyway, I think, I think George's stuff was probably more different than the Beatles. Yeah, exactly. It was totally different era. Totally different vibe. Yeah. Yeah. I just think my sweet Lord is just, uh, oh, yeah, I, I, I, I, I just think it's,
[00:39:43] yeah, it makes me, makes me furious that we don't. And this is why I think we should be, should like Paul McCartney should be frozen now while there's still time. Yeah, you're right. You're right. Yeah. We could do that. Maybe we go to the next show and kidnap them and freeze them. Yeah. Okay. Uh, Will, your British pick. Stormzy. Oh, cool. They call him Michael. Big storms. He likes paintings. He likes porn. All right. I think he's an amazing live performer.
[00:40:13] We need a rapper. Sorry. Didn't mean to use your lyrics there, Michael. Sorry. There's an amazing clip of him, uh, singing at the, I think it's the Brit Awards when he's standing under like in a bulletproof vest and there's loads of water coming down on him. Very cool. Musical understanding. Great lyricist. Funny. Bit silly on you. Interesting. I think he is going to gel real well. A little rap break in a Dolly Parton Chapel Rhone song. Yes, please.
[00:40:42] I think they'd all enjoy that so much as well. Yeah. I think Dolly Parton would have a lot of patience for that in a way that Enya probably wouldn't. Yeah. Stormzy's open to other stuff. He's got in one of his songs. He says, um, I was in the O2 singing my lungs out. You're never too big for Adele. Like he just loves Adele. I think that's cool. He's uplifting. The other two are uplifting. Oh, were you tempted by anyone else? Will? Yeah, I was, I was going to go for Ed Sheeran. I think he's amazing.
[00:41:09] He's a real testament to what the UK is and British people are. Um, I also sincerely thought about Brian Mulko, who is British American, who's the lead singer of Placebo. Oh! I think he is genuinely an incredible songwriter. I think lyrically and like dramatically unbelievable. Also, Lewis Capaldi. The only Placebo song I know is Every You and Every Me, but it's a great song. Is he singing that? Yeah. Because I, Mike, I bet you like that song. Yeah. Uh, I don't think I know it, are you? Oh, you do. I'll get into it.
[00:41:38] I'll get into it. Sing it as the Beatles on you. So there's nothing left to do, every me and every you. That's actually spot on. Is that? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Sucker love is heaven sent. Sucker love is heaven sent. You pucker up our passion spent. Suck of love. Sucker love. Sucker love is it? Okay. Okay. My passion spent.
[00:42:06] So I did think of that, but then I thought that was too niche a choice, Brian Malko. And also I think I wanted a rapper in the super group. Okay, cool. Will, so you now get to pick your negative draft which you can then assign to somebody else's group. Well, I want to give you all the negative draft for forcing that 20 minute discussion about the fucking Beatles again like every episode we have, but I can't do that. Do you just not care about the Beatles? I couldn't give... I didn't want to swear again.
[00:42:36] I don't care. I don't care so bad. I so, so bad don't care. Is this like how I would feel if you started talking about like the Premier League or something? It's just like... Yeah, yeah. Well, it's like how I would feel about if people were talking about the Premier League. It's in the same category for me. I'm like, it's all nonsense and jargon that I don't care about. Jargon? Lovely. Jargon. With our fancy city, city slicker words. Okay, so your negative draft...
[00:43:04] Can we on you, sorry, I'm trying to write them down here. Just before we give the negative draft, could we maybe run through just the groups? Because I think it's important when we're assigning these. And do we have names for our groups so far? Well, we'll... I think that comes at the end, surely. We'll, we've got Chapel Roan, Dolly Parton, Hosier and Stormzy. That's sick. I've got Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Phil Linnett and George Harrison. Like, come on! A lot of great guitar. That's really good. Oh my God! That's really good. Jesus!
[00:43:36] Michael's got... Someone has a very different vibe, I would say. Michael's got Harry Styles, Fredgy... Fredgy? Fredgy Mercury, Enya and Ringo Starr. And Hugh has Dua Lipa, David Bowie, Dolores O'Rearden and Paul McCartney. I would say Will has gone for quite a cool vibe. Michael, an energetic vibe. Me, a soulful vibe. And Hugh has gone for kind of an eccentric, spooky vibe. I mean, I think, Anya, that yours and mine are the best. I have to admit. Yeah, me too. I'd love to have Dolly. I think Dolly, Dolly might be the best Oran pick. Dolly. What do you think?
[00:44:05] I think, Will, yours is a bit Red Nose Day. Yeah. What are you talking about? Red Nose Day. It's Wembley Arena and Stormzy and Dolly Parton are taking to the stage to do a remake of Last of the Summer Wine. I don't know. What kind of stuff you guys put on over there? Yeah. Yeah, I was there to kind of present a medal or something, you know. Thanks very much. Yeah.
[00:44:31] Can't believe out of all these, you old boring people who've all chosen a beetle are trying to make me seem uncool. That's crazy. And just for that comment, Ornir, you are getting Winston Marshall from Mumford & Sons. Oh no! Oh gross! Enjoy your chart success now. Yeah, yeah. Playing the banjo and spewing nonsense about immigration. Oh no!
[00:45:01] Oh that's horrible! Have you seen his right wing podcast these days? Oh god, that's gross! Don't worry, his dad owns a hedge fund and GB News, he co-owns GB News, so you get a lot of air time, you'll be able to play on there all the time. Oh! And he really loves white people. Well that is truly diabolical. Now I had someone in mind, but I don't think you're going to find them horrifying enough. So I'm going to send him what I would call Ireland's nuclear weapon. Oh god, we've got a couple of those. Ed Sheeran. No, you're getting Bono.
[00:45:30] And like, Will, he is going to be, like, he is going to break your spirit. Like, he, like, I, I, and like the others won't get on with him. I mean, I'm not a Bono fan, honey, but I think giving him, like, the front man of the biggest band in the world is a negative draft. I don't know. Hugh, he sucks so much. Oh, I don't like him at all. I nearly picked him on you. Of course you did, Michael. He's, he's a great singer, but like, they have gone so off the boil.
[00:45:59] Like, it has been such a, a downward trajectory, I think, over the last 10 or 15 years. Like, with Gaza, we got a mealy-mouthed response to it. Like, I don't know, the last six months or something? Like, I think, I think he's just been exposed as a complete, like, I, and all the stuff with Aang Sang Suki, what happened there? What's the story there? Why, I don't, anyway, I just. Ah, yeah, they weren't the only ones though. I wrote down his bone by accident. Anyway, you're getting Bono, for better or worse. I think, I think Bono's gonna do well. We're gonna, we're gonna bring him out as and when.
[00:46:28] He's not the front man in this band. He's just gonna be at the side, singing along. I think, I think we're gonna, we're gonna. If you think Bono is gonna be at the side, you need to go back and watch Live Aid. Even though when they record that studio, do they know it's Christmas? Because he's gonna be really annoying. Bono thinks he's the best. Who do you think's gonna win in a fight between Stormzy and Bono? Yeah, Bono's gonna get murdered on stage. I was thinking of Yoko Ono, purely for her destructive forces, but you probably love her, Will. But that's probably your favourite Beatle, is Yoko Ono.
[00:46:58] Well, I'm not, I'm not deeply sexist, so yeah, I do like her actually. Oh no, you just, you don't understand! They were having such a good time! Anyway. And the woman came and ruined it, did she? Yes. Anyway, Michael, you're a negative draft, who would you like to give it to? Okay, so I can give it to who? To only Hugh, is it? Who can I give it to? You can give it to whoever you want, Michael. You can give it to anybody.
[00:47:26] Well, I feel like, I mean... Well you can't give it to anybody, that's crazy! You can't give it to anybody! That means you can double stack him! If he doesn't give it to me, I don't get a negative draft. I'm giving it to Hugh. You don't get a negative draft! I'm giving it to Hugh. And I've done, I wanted to pick someone who we'd, regardless of the combination of acts that you've already picked, this would tank it. Guys, you've all heard me sing, I'm drafting me into your group. So... I'm on the bill now.
[00:47:53] It's the most narcissistic move I've ever heard. Sorry, Will, in every previous draft you've drafted yourself as an actor. Okay. I am an actor! So I'm allowed to do this. That is fair, Michael. That is my job. That is my job, Michael. Well, I've made my choice. I've made my choice. I'm in the group. I mean, Michael, do you know what? You said you put yourself on the bill. I'm gonna put you on the bills. You know, you're gonna run the money side of things. And you'll do a great job on that. No, he has to. They all have to be on stage.
[00:48:23] If I was allowed to put Bono on the edge... They won't notice, Michael. He's very small. That's such a boring answer. I wanted a fun answer. Give me, come on, who were your honourable mentions? Yeah. Who would your fun answer be? Who would your not bad answer be? No, I mean... Well, firstly, I'd get on well with Bowie. So that's good. You picked him, right? You'd get on well with Bowie. I would, yeah. Okay, no. Hang on, Michael. That's a bilateral thing. Okay. You like Bowie. Okay. Why would Bowie like you?
[00:48:56] That is so funny. That's so mean. That's such a cutting question. You'd be the only person in the world to irritate Paul McCartney, though. Yeah. You'd hit on Dua Lipa and on Dolores Riordan and on Bowie. Maybe not, Paul. You wouldn't get on well with Dolores Riordan at all. Oh no, she wouldn't like you at all, Michael. You see, because I'm the perfect negative draft. This is the category that I would do. Like, I'm just tearing this group apart, you know?
[00:49:26] No, but it's just not that bad. I mean, Oanyu's just got Winston from Mumford and Sons tickling the way on the banjo. Yeah. I'm like gonna be like Yoko, but if Yoko was really enjoying it, you know? Like, this is great. Hugh, who would you like to give Michael? You see, I... It's funny, because earlier on, I was thinking, oh, I'd give like Daniel O'Donnell or Christopher or someone, but they'd fit right in in Michael's group. They'd really... You know? Also, I think that's a bit... Daniel O'Donnell would be fine and he'd be very nice. No, sure.
[00:49:56] But I suppose, Oanyu, what I was thinking earlier, I was thinking like, we're making super groups, we're gonna be having some of the greatest like rock and roll, maybe hip-hop, maybe whatever musicians, and you'd bring in Daniel O'Donnell. You know, we Daniel. I just don't think he'd be adding to the vibe. Yeah. But then, yeah, I think... Do you know what, Michael? I'm giving you... I don't think this is a bad thing. Okay. But I think he's gonna mix things up a bit. Okay. And I'm not sure how O'Donnell will deal with it. Okay. I'm giving you current day Ozzy Osbourne. Okay.
[00:50:26] Okay. Wow. So... So dead. He's alive, isn't he? No, he's not. No. When did Ozzy die? He died last year. Oh my God. Okay. Well then I'm definitely giving you current day Ozzy Osbourne. We've bitten the bat... Do you know what, Hugh? I think Ozzy would fit in very well. I think Freddy, Ozzy, Harry, and anyone. He probably would. He probably would. Yeah. I was also thinking Rebecca Black, but I think you'd love Rebecca Black.
[00:50:56] So we've... I'm gonna give... Also, Rebecca Black's had a... She's returned, man. Yeah. She is like... She's back. I'm crushing it. Yeah. Rebecca Black. Rebecca Black. Will's got Chaperone, Dolly Parton, Hosier, Stormzy, and Bono. Taking to the stage in my arena, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Phil Lynette, George Harrison, and... We've got Winston Mofill. We've got... Marshall. Mofill.
[00:51:23] Michael has got Harry Styles, Freddie Mercury, Enya, Ringo, and an elderly Ozzy Osbourne. Amazing. Hugh has got Dua Lipa, David Bowie, Dolores A. Reardon, Paul McCartney, and... Michael. Can we have just one little round where we don't... These aren't officials, but maybe where we pick someone who didn't fit in any of the categories. Okay. So I'm gonna add Eminem to my supergroup. Okay. Because I couldn't pick him. He doesn't fit the dates and he's not Irish or English.
[00:51:52] So... Oh, yeah. So I think... Oh, fair enough. Can I just add him in? Yeah. Okay. Michael, would you like to add in somebody? Can I add in someone who I should have picked the first time around? And I just... No, no, no. It has to be outside the categories. It has to be outside the categories. It's someone you weren't able to pick. I don't know. Like there was no way of picking Eminem, you know? Yeah, okay. So... Someone American, basically? Or, well... Or born... Or middle... Middle aged. But...
[00:52:21] It's basically born between 1960 and 1990. Exactly. Yeah, but if they were British, then I could have picked them. Oh, I did think the other person I was gonna give you in a negative draft might have been Liam Neill. I'm not saying Gallagher, but... Or maybe no, actually. Oh, that's a great one. He is tough work, isn't he? I'd love Gallagher's. Maybe just me, then. I'll just take Eminem. Yeah, maybe just you. Yeah, you can have Eminem. Yeah. Okay. We all have Eminem. We all get Eminem. On the roster. I did think I would have liked to have had Jimmy Page or Robert Plunk.
[00:52:51] Yeah. But... I mean, you're strong on guitar, though, Anya, to be fair. Some might say too strong. Too strong on guitar. Anya, I'm very surprised that neither of us picked Brian Ferry at any point. Oh... I'm not a big Brian Ferry fan. Oh, I don't know. We could all have Jethro Sheeran. Ed Sheeran's really weird cousin. Who went on the Piers Morgan show and said he wasn't jealous of Ed Sheeran. Which is a good way of proving you're not jealous of someone.
[00:53:20] Michael, I'm surprised you didn't pick a Knopfler or an Eric Clapton or... That's where I thought you'd go. I went in a different direction, you know? Yeah. Some would say... One direction. You've got such... I love your taste in music, but you also have this terrible cheesy element. Cheesy chose. Harry Styles. Yeah. I was gonna try and pick just the four members of Boney M. It would be amazing. I thought we might get Kate Bush in as well, but... Oh! But she's not super group material. I think it's interesting.
[00:53:49] Have we mostly... Like, I'm gonna... Okay, of all the people who've been picked, I do think... Yeah. And I think she's amazing, but I think Enya is the least super group of everyone. Thank you. I'll take that. Including me. I think the Beatles are the most super groupie. No, I think Paul is a fine super group choice, but I don't think Ringo and the other guy are. George was in... I think George is a strong super group choice. The travelling Wilburys means nothing to me.
[00:54:19] It's the biggest super group ever. It's like you're saying, oh, they're in the Crumble Bambus. Yeah, who's in the travelling Wilburys is... Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, George Harrison and... Roy Orbison? Yeah. Yeah. Incredible. Incredible. God! Like, someone just had an idea like us and we just had the means to do it. Yeah. I mean, that is everything. No, but it's not. Like, that's like being like, you like Back to the Future and you like The Sopranos. How about we make Back to the Sopranos and I'm just...
[00:54:47] And I have all the money and I've just done this thing and I can just do that. I am in. Did you guys ever hear of the Million Dollar Quartet? Heard about that? No. So that was... Oh yeah. Basically, it was like a studio crossover. These guys all just happened to be in the same... Yeah, exactly. It was a jam session and it was Elvis, Johnny Cash, Cal Perkins and was it Jerry Lee Lewis? Jerry Lee Lewis. Yeah. And they recorded like three or four songs together.
[00:55:16] Do you know the famous Carl Sagan quote when they were putting together the golden record to go on The Voyager? No. I like everything about this song. So you know the golden record. That's a cool sentence. They put on this record which was some music, some sounds. There was like, you know, also there were pictures of the human anatomy. You know, there were babies talking in different languages possibly or babies babbling. But they were putting on music and Here Comes the Sun is on there I think. There's a piece of Mozart on, whatever else.
[00:55:45] But apparently someone said to Carl Sagan, should we put on Bach? And Carl Sagan said, no that would be showing off. Amazing. Is that a good place to leave it then? This is the end of the season. Let us know which of our supergroups you want to hear because, well, does anyone have a fully alive supergroup? Erm, not Michael, not you. No. I've got four out of five, Will. You've got four out of five, Will. I'm only missing Dolly. You're at least dead.
[00:56:15] Yeah. I've got two dead. Michael has two dead. I've got one, two, two dead. Guys, we were so close to ending on a high. Just counting on dead. The worst possible way to end this. Okay, listen, thank you for listening to this episode and indeed this season of Legitimate Likes. Don't forget to buy a ticket on Sunday the 8th. We're in Dublin and Hen's Teeth. See if there are a couple of tickets left. Will, it's been another great season.
[00:56:45] It's been another great season. There's only one way to end it, Hugh. We're about to hear Adolf Hitler singing Octopus's Garden. Take it away, Adolf. I live in the scene.
[00:57:01] PHIL SCARF tous Deixa spouse ко zu nóer exemple Good night and good luck. Hitler's much less self-assured than I remember. Goodbye. I don't speak German. Auf Wiedersehen.
