Industry veteran contributes to selecting Britain's finest podcasting talent

Damien St John, CEO of podcast network Podomedy, has been appointed as a filter judge for the 2025 British Podcast Awards, joining the prestigious panel tasked with identifying excellence across Britain's thriving podcasting landscape.

Damien brings 25 years of broadcasting experience to the judging process, where he will help evaluate entries alongside fellow industry professionals in what has become the definitive celebration of British podcasting talent.

"Having been part of the filter judging process since 2021, I'm continually impressed by the innovation and quality emerging from British podcasters," said Damien. "Each year brings fresh voices and bold perspectives that push the medium forward. It's a privilege to help identify the exceptional work that deserves recognition alongside my fellow judges, ensuring we celebrate not just technical excellence but the podcasts that truly connect with audiences and advance the art form."

Judges will evaluate entries based on Quality, Impact, and New Perspectives, with the final judging panel comprised of an inclusive range of individuals to fully represent the industry. This comprehensive approach ensures that Britain's diverse podcasting community receives proper recognition across all genres and formats.

The rigorous judging process reflects the awards' commitment to maintaining the highest standards. Previous years have seen the 50-strong judging panel listening to over 1,000 hours of entries, demonstrating the thoroughness with which each submission is evaluated.

About the British Podcast Awards

The British Podcast Awards have established themselves as the premier recognition for podcasting excellence in the UK. This year's ceremony will take place at Indigo at the O2 on 2nd October 2025, marking another milestone in the awards' nine-year history of celebrating the medium's finest achievements.

With over 25 categories, there is something for every creator, and the judging process must accommodate this diversity whilst maintaining consistent standards of evaluation. The three-pillar approach of Quality, Impact, and New Perspectives provides a framework that can be applied across genres whilst recognising each category's unique characteristics.

Judges are asked to compare entries based on not only their quality and impact, but on their ability to give a voice to others, highlighting the awards' focus on podcasting's unique power to amplify diverse voices and perspectives across British society.
